Hello George!
Can you tell us about your
family and childhood?
Absolutely! I was born and raised in Mumbai
as the second son of Mr. Spurgeon Kumar and
Mrs. Kalarani Kumar. I have an older brother who runs his
own company. My hometown is Tirunelveli. My father moved
to Mumbai for work before his marriage and settled here. My
upbringing in a traditional Christian family instilled Christian values in me. Every Sunday, we
would go to church together as a family. As children, our parents would teach us Bible verses
and make us memorize them. From a young age, they encouraged me to participate in all
church events. I was also an excellent student in school and well-regarded by my teachers.
Great to hear about your family. Did you have an interest in sports from a young age?
Yes, definitely! I have had a tremendous passion for sports since childhood. I used to play
indoor games like chess and carom. Additionally, I participated in athletics, winning many
medals in 100m and 200m races. In the seventh grade, I began playing football with my
buddies and became really interested in the game. Coaches intensified my training, leading to
my selection at the state level. Through this, I have won numerous awards and played with
great passion.

Once on a ministry visit, we went to a village in the Tirunelveli district. Upon arrival, we noticed
a board that read, “No entry for outsiders.” Our team members had already left us behind. The
village seemed utterly deserted, with not a soul in sight. As we walked a bit further, we noticed
two elderly women sitting on a porch, deep in conversation. When we approached them and
handed them a gospel tract, saying, “Jesus loves you,” the brother who came with me suddenly
felt the Holy Spirit urging him to “Pray for the sick.”
We right away enquired, “Is there anyone sick in this village? We would like to pray for them.”
They promptly pointed to a house at the far end of the village, saying, “There is someone who has
been ill for many days in that last house.”
We headed for the house with determination. When we approached a woman there, she guided us directly to the
patient’s house. Inside, we found an old man bedridden with a urine bag attached. We started preaching the gospel
by sharing my testimony and explaining how Jesus saved me from a family that did not know Him. After that, we
both prayed for the man.
As we were praying, the Holy Spirit descended upon us, granting a vision. “Tell him to rise and walk,” the Holy
Spirit instructed me. Grasping his hand, I firmly commanded, “Rise and walk!” To our amazement, he stood up and
began to walk. As we were urging, “Open your mouth and say ‘Jesus,’” the man, who had been mute, immediately
proclaimed, “Jesus!” loudly.
A week later, we checked on him, and to our delight, we learnt that he was fully healed and had returned to work.
Today, the entire family has accepted Jesus and regularly attends church. Glory be to the holy name of God. Amen!

Anand Megalingam was born into a humble family in Chennai,
where his father worked as a tractor driver. Despite his
modest beginnings, Anand harboured big dreams. After
completing his schooling, he pursued a degree in Electrical
and Electronics Engineering. However, the path was far from
easy. Anand failed all his subjects in the first semester, leading
to his expulsion from college. Two years passed without
progress, but his passion for sports earned him a spot in a
private college under the sports quota. This time, he chose
Aeronautical Engineering and began to thrive.
During his studies, Anand’s fascination with flight led him to
craft gliders and paper planes, winning numerous
competitions. The prize money from these victories fuelled his passion for innovation, allowing
him to create even more projects. Anand’s relentless pursuit of excellence earned him over 500
certificates and the prestigious Young Scientist Award, presented by the Chief Minister of
Pondicherry under the APJ Abdul Kalam International Trust.
Anand graduated with a B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering, achieving an impressive 9.8 CGPA.
He then pursued a Master’s in Anti-Drone Technology, a field that presented numerous
challenges. Despite the obstacles, Anand’s determination never wavered. In 2021, alongside his
father, he founded Space Zone India—a firm dedicated to rocket development, learning, and
teaching.
Space Zone India’s mission is to advance space technology and promote the value of education
among schoolchildren. The company gained national recognition when the Prime Minister of
India commended their achievement of launching 100 satellites from Rameshwaram in 2022. A
year later, they successfully launched the first hybrid rocket from Chennai.

India boasts the fourth-largest railway network in the world, with approximately 68,525 kilometres of
track in operation. Recent reports estimate that the nation undertakes 5 billion train journeys annually.
The convenience of trains, equipped with amenities such as food, water, and restrooms, makes them
the preferred mode of transport for the elderly, children, and the unwell. The Indian Railways, a colossal
public sector enterprise, not only stands as a symbol of national pride but also serves as a significant
revenue generator.
Recognizing its importance, the Union Government allocated a dedicated budget exclusively for the
railways, with a separate minister overseeing the department. However, the Union Government
discontinued this practice and now incorporates the railways into the general budget. The functioning
of the railways has increasingly come under scrutiny, with the number of accidents and fatalities on the
rise.
In a recent incident on July 30, a passenger train travelling from Howrah to Mumbai derailed near
Barabambo, Jharkhand. Tragically, 18 carriages derailed, resulting in the loss of two lives. This accident
occurred at the same location where a freight train had previously derailed. Unfortunately, such train
accidents are becoming alarmingly common. Just last year, on June 2nd, a catastrophic collision involving
three trains in Balasore, Odisha, claimed 293 lives and left around 900 injured. The Indian Railways
Ministry attributed this devastating accident to human error.
There have been over 10 reported train accidents in just the past two months (June and July). Historical
data reveals a disturbing trend: On March 20, 2015, the Janata Express derailed en route from Dehradun
to Varanasi, resulting in 34 fatalities. On November 20, 2016, a major train accident near Pukhrayan,
Kanpur, claimed over 150 lives. On January 22nd, 2017, a derailment in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram
district led to the deaths of 39 people. Such incidents continue to plague the nation.
The Union Government’s decision to privatise profit-making entities like the LIC and Indian Railways
instead of focussing on initiatives to bolster them poses a grave threat to progress. The Indian populace
earnestly hopes that the government will prioritise the development of the railway sector, a critical
transportation hub, and implement measures to reduce accidents.
