INTRODUCTION
The foundation of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra
University) was laid on the 1st of July, 1927, as a result of hectic efforts of a band of
enthusiastic educationists like Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana,
Dr L.P. Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr Brajendra
Swaroop. Rev. Canon A.W. Davis was the first Vice Chancellor of Agra University.
Original jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra, Central
India and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and students of which, 1475 students
belonged to United Provinces. Initially, there were only four faculties in the University
viz. Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture
(1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and
Management (1993) were added subsequently.
The Agra University, Agra was renamed as Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra
from 24.09.1995 vide U.P. Govt. Notification No. 33/XVII-V-1-1(ka)-43-1996, dated
06.01.1996). The University now caters to the educational need of the seven districts
of Agra Division namely Agra, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah and
Mathura. Besides, the University is proud of having affiliated to it, Sarojini Naidu
Medical College, which is one of the oldest and a premier Medical Institute of the
country. At present university has approx 200 affiliated colleges and 15 residential
Institutes spread out in its four residential campus viz. Paliwal Park, Khandari Campus,
Civil Lines Campus and Chhaleshar Campus. Furthermore, this university affiliates
colleges of Homeopathy, Ayurveda extending all over the State of U.P.
The University is steadily surging ahead as a centre for higher scientific vocational and
job oriented education and innovative research. The goal of the University is to
innovate in the field of education and to become a centre of excellence both nationally
and internationally. The University is not only confined to impart quality education but
also to satisfy the burning desire of the students who are exploring the creative
intellect. The University is making every effort to fulfill the spirit of University motto
"Tamso Ma Jyotirgamay" moving from darkness to light.
Though originally affiliating in nature, the University has over the years developed a

DEFINITIONS
In this Policy, definitions are as follows:
❖ “University” means Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU) Agra
❖ “Admission” means admission of the candidates in the Bachelors, Masters & Part
Time courses.
❖ “Website” meanswww.dbrau.org.in– the Official Website of University.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADMISSION
1. In Academic Session 2021-22 all admission in University will be done through Single
Admission Monitoring system.
2. Through University Admission Monitoring system, every eligible student/applicant can
register themselves for more than one course in single registration fees. Students can also
opt for their desired college according to the availability of the seats.
3. For admission in University, Eligible Students/Applicants can apply through University
Official Website www.dbrau.org.in
4. All admission related instructions, guidelines, notices, prospectus etc. are available on
University official website.
5. In case the student has submitted an application for leaving the course in between within
two months from the date of taking the admission, the University will reimburse 90% of
the total fees.
GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION
Online applications shall be invited for admission to Under-Graduate courses being run in the
Residential Wing/Affiliated Colleges of the University. Eligibility criteria for admission shall be
specified on the University Website www.dbrau.org.in.
➢ Information of the admission procedure shall be displayed on the University website
www.dbrau.org.in. Candidates are advised to check the University website regularly for
updates.
➢ Candidates may note that any discrepancy regarding fee or eligibility criteria or any
other alike due to printing or any other kind of error shall not provide any right to the
candidates for admission to any particular course. The candidate shall be required to
pay the actual fee applicable for the course at the time of admission.
➢ The applicant is required to ensure that he/she has checked the eligibility criteria of the
course concerned and correctly filled up the application form. Admission shall be
cancelled if the candidate is not found to be eligible.
➢ Reservation Rules for the admission shall be applicable as per U.P. Government Rules.
➢ The University reserves the right not to conduct any self-financing courses in
residential wing/affiliated colleges if sufficient number of applications/students are not
available. In such cases the fee of the applicant shall be refunded.
➢ After being admitted to any course, if a candidate fails to submit his/her eligibility
certificate within the stipulated time his/her admission will be liable to be cancelled
and the candidate shall solely be responsible for cancellation and fee shall not be
refunded.
➢ Any fee structure may be changed at any time as per the guidelines or norms of the
Hon’ble Court/Government/University without any prior information or notice to the
candidate and deposition of the same fee shall be binding upon the candidate.
➢ Minority Institution will take admission as per the prevailing rules of the UP
Government/University.
➢ Changed made, if any, in the admission rules/fee structure of any course shall be
applicable to candidate seeking admission even after registration. No separate
intimation letters will be sent.
➢ Check University Admission Committee minutes for rules and regulations, weightage
marks etc. The Rules for admission as prescribed by the Admission Committee of the
University for the session 2021-22 shall strictly be followed for weightage marks etc.
➢ Application forms shall be rejected in case:-
1. It has been received after last date; and
2. It has been received with invalid or incomplete documents. No correspondence shall
be entertained in this regard.
The University courses are categorized:
Regular Courses:
Where the faculty positions are substantive capacity and duly approved by the UGC/ State
Government. For these courses, permanent faculty will be engaged in teaching and in case of any
vacancy, guest faculty may be recruited against those posts.
Self-Finance Courses:
These courses are approved by State Government, but not funded by State Government. These are
self-sustaining courses. The funds are generated out of fee collection from the students to take
admission in the course. The faculty/Staff position are not substantive in nature. In these courses
teaching positions are of two natures, (a) contractual faculty and (b) visiting faculty. The vacant
positions, not filled up by contractual faculty, shall be filled up by appointing visiting faculty. Such
visiting faculty shall be appointed as per the norms of the University, on the payment of Rs.
25,000/- to Rs. 45,000/- depending on the financial resources of the course concerned.
RESERVATION OF SEATS
Reservation of Seats shall be as per the guidelines of State Government announced time to time,
provided that the candidate should produce valid certificates duly signed by competent authority
and issued on or after the 1st April of the Academic Year.
