Lesson Plan: At the Airport

Level: A2 (Adults)

Duration: 1 Hour

Topic: At the Airport

Lesson Objectives:

- Learn and practice vocabulary and phrases related to airport scenarios (check-in, security, gate).

- Practice speaking through role-play activities in realistic airport scenarios.

1. Warm-Up (5-10 minutes)


Activity: Find Someone Who...

- Students walk around asking questions to learn facts about their peers using prompts.

- Debrief: Share one or two interesting facts with the class.

2. Introduction (10 minutes)


Objective: Introduce the context and key vocabulary.

1. Show a picture of an airport or play a short video to set the scene.

2. Elicit ideas: "What happens at the airport?" "What do you say at check-in?"

3. Teach key vocabulary: passport, boarding pass, check-in desk, security, gate, boarding, luggage,

etc.

4. Provide example sentences:

- "Can I see your passport, please?"

- "Your gate is B12."

3. Listening or Dialogue Practice (10 minutes)


Activity: Practice key phrases.

1. Provide a dialogue script (e.g., at check-in).


2. Model the dialogue with a student:

- Agent: "Good morning! Can I see your passport?"

- Passenger: "Here you go."

3. Students practice in pairs, switching roles.

4. Role-Play Activity (20 minutes)


Objective: Practice speaking in a realistic airport scenario.

1. Divide the class into groups of 3-4. Assign roles: check-in agent, passenger, security officer, gate

agent, etc.

2. Provide prompts/scripts for each scenario: check-in, security, gate.

3. Rotate roles after 7-10 minutes.

Teacher's Role: Monitor, take notes on mistakes, and assist as needed.

5. Feedback and Closing (10 minutes)


- Error Correction: Discuss common mistakes from the role-play.

- Closing Activity: Quick Quiz

- Example questions: "What do you show at the check-in desk?" "What should you remove at

security?"

- Wrap-Up: Praise students and review key phrases.
