Hùng Anh (Host):
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Green Earth Talk Show! Today, we’re discussing a very
important topic—Global Warming. This issue not only affects our lives today but also the future
of our planet. Joining me are two special guests: Tùng and Kiệt. Welcome, Tùng and Kiệt!
Tùng & Kiệt: Thank you, Hùng Anh! We’re excited to be here and talk about such an important
issue.
Hùng Anh (Host):
Thank you both for joining us! Let’s dive right in. Tùng, can you explain to our audience what
global warming is and why it happens?
Tùng:
Of course! Global warming is the gradual increase in Earth’s temperature over time. The main
cause is human activities, especially burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. We use these
fuels to produce energy for cars, factories, and daily life. When we burn these fuels, they
release greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane into the atmosphere. These
gases trap heat, just like a giant blanket around the Earth. Normally, some heat escapes into
space, but with these gases, more heat stays in, making the planet warmer.
Hùng Anh (Host):
Thanks for explaining that so clearly, Tùng! Now, Kiệt, why do you think global warming is such
a big problem for the world?
Kiệt:
That’s a great question, Hùng Anh. Global warming isn’t just about warmer weather. It causes
huge changes in the climate, making weather more extreme and unpredictable. We’re seeing
stronger storms, longer heatwaves, and serious droughts in places that used to have plenty of
water. These changes don’t just affect the weather—they also impact plants, animals, and
ecosystems that we depend on. For example, in areas with severe droughts, farmers can’t grow
crops easily, which can lead to food shortages.
Hùng Anh (Host):
That sounds really serious. Can you share some specific examples of these effects?
Tùng:
Sure! For instance, in the Arctic, ice that has existed for thousands of years is melting rapidly.
This causes sea levels to rise, which is a major problem for coastal areas around the world. If
sea levels keep rising, cities like Miami in the U.S. or the Mekong Delta in Vietnam could face
flooding. Even places far from the sea are affected. Melting ice also threatens animals like polar
bears and seals because their habitats are disappearing.
Hùng Anh (Host):
That’s very worrying. So, global warming affects both the natural environment and human
communities. Let’s talk about what we can do to slow it down. Tùng, do you have any ideas?
Tùng:
One of the easiest ways to help is to save electricity. When we use electricity, it often comes
from burning fossil fuels, which releases greenhouse gases. Simple actions like turning off lights
when not in use, using energyefficient LED bulbs, and unplugging devices can make a big
difference.
Hùng Anh (Host):
That’s a great idea, Tùng. Saving electricity is simple, and anyone can do it. Kiệt, do you have
other suggestions for reducing our impact on global warming?
Kiệt:
Yes! Another important action is rethinking how we travel. Cars and motorbikes produce a lot of
CO2. So, if people can use public transport like buses or trains, ride bicycles, or even walk short
distances, it helps a lot. For example, if one person cycles instead of driving just one day a
week, they can reduce about 10kg of CO2 emissions per month. Imagine if millions of people
did the same—the impact would be huge!
Hùng Anh (Host):
That’s a fantastic idea, Kiệt! And I think this is also good for our health, right? Walking or cycling
not only reduces emissions but also keeps us active. Small actions can create big changes.
Tùng, do you have another suggestion for helping the environment?
Tùng:
Absolutely. Planting trees is a wonderful way to help. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release
oxygen, making the air cleaner. They act like natural “air filters” for the planet. Even planting one
tree can make a difference. If everyone planted one tree, we’d have millions or even billions of
trees helping to reduce CO2. There are also global reforestation programs where people work
together to restore forests. Supporting these programs or joining local treeplanting events is a
great way to contribute.
Hùng Anh (Host):
Those are all amazing ideas! Thank you, Tùng and Kiệt, for sharing such valuable information.
Global warming is truly a big challenge, but as you’ve both pointed out, everyone can do
something to slow it down. If we all make small changes in our daily lives—like saving electricity,
choosing sustainable transportation, and planting trees—we can make a real difference for our
planet.
Tùng & Kiệt:
Thank you, Hùng Anh! We’re glad to share these ideas and hope our audience feels inspired to
take action.
Hùng Anh (Host):
And thank you to our viewers for watching the Green Earth Talk Show. Remember, the future of
our planet is in our hands, and even small actions can lead to big changes. Let’s work together
to protect Earth. See you next time!
