1. Summary
This document describes the steps to set up the SAP Cloud Applications studio on your local PC and
to create users.

Note: From release 1308, the SAP Business ByDesign Studio has been renamed to SAP Cloud
Applications studio.

2. Expected Result
...

When you complete the set up user creation, you will be able to use the ByDesign Studio from your
local PC or laptop to do activities such as create solutions, carry out testing etc.
3. Steps

Depending on your use case and situation, you may need to complete all or just some of the following
steps.

3.1 Install SAP Cloud Applications studio

Install the SAP Cloud Applications studio on your PC or laptop as described in the following WIKI:

Depending on which backend release you want to connect to, you need to install the corresponding
Studio Version 3.5 and 4.0.

For more information, see

https://wiki.wdf.sap.corp/wiki/display/BYDPDICOD/20110203+PDI+Build+and+Patch+Process

Note: Use the correction branch on version 3.5 and the consolidation code line on version 4.0.
It is good practice to reinstall the studio version each week (on Mondays) using these links (it is only
necessary to install the studio version and not the whole thing as described in Step 3.1. This process
should take only minutes to complete.)

3.3 Create a Development User for the SAP Cloud

Applications studio
Create a development user for the SAP Cloud Applications studio. For more information, see
User Setup Quick Guide.

Tasks:
 Create a service agent and request a user (for example, you can use the AKRON
user name EEYCKEN with the password INIT69)
 Assign a user ID and a password to the service agent (for example, you can use the
AKRON user name KJACOB with the password INIT69)
 Assign work centers to the service agent (for example, you can use the AKRON user
name KJACOB with the password INIT69)

3.4 Create a Business User for the Business Adaptation

Catalogue (BAC)
To check the BAC, you can use the AKRON user name AGILMORE_BC with the password INIT69.

3.5 Create a Test Workspace

If you do not have an appropriate workspace available in your system for testing (not for production)
you can create a new test workspace using the BCTADM transaction.
Note that you must not create a Main workspace.
As outlined in the following diagram, you select the Workspace Operation tab, select Create
Workspace, and enter a description for your workspace.

3.6 Connect the Studio to your Backend System

Configure the studio to log on to the system and tenant in which you want to work. You can do so by
selecting, Tools -> Options -> SAP -> General. You can manually include (there is no “Copy” function)
an entry such as the following example adapted to your system or tenant:

Name QPF003 (or whatever you want)

Host qpf-cust003.dev.sapbydesign.com

Port 50000

SSL 443

SysNc 0

Client 3

Language EN

Note: The port number and use of a proxy might depend on where in the system landscape your
system is. Save your changes when finished. You can then log on as outlined in the following diagram:
3.7 Create a Solution for Testing (if one is not already
assigned)
When working in a productive environment, a solution should have been created for you. For testing
purposes, you can create one yourself. Solutions marked as “Sandbox” are not deployed.
