CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Online Library Management System is an application that refers to library systems that are
generally small or medium in size. It is used by a librarian to manage the library using a
computerized system where he/she can add new books and the College of Department. Books
and student maintenance modules are also included in this system, which would keep track of the
students using the library and also a detailed description of the books a library contains. With
this computerized system, there will be no loss of book record or member record, which
generally happens when a non-computerized system is used.
. 4. Research questions
4.1. System Efficiency and Usability
How user-friendly is the current library management system at Jinka University for both
students and staff?
What challenges do users face while interacting with the library management system at
Jinka University?
How does the system’s performance (speed, accuracy, reliability) affect the user
experience?
4.2. User Satisfaction
What is the level of satisfaction among students and faculty members with the current
library management system at Jinka University?
How do users perceive the accessibility and ease of use of the system?
4.3. Challenges and Improvement Areas
What are the key technical and operational challenges faced by the library staff in
managing the library system at Jinka University?
What features or improvements do users believe would enhance the current library
management system?
5. Statement of the problem/gap
File lost
When a computerized system is not implemented, the file is always lost because of the human
environment. Sometimes, due to some human error, there may be a loss of records.
Difficult to search record
When there is no computerized system, there is always a difficulty in searching for records if the
records are large in number.
Space-consuming
After the number of records becomes large, the space for physical storage of files and records
also increases if no computerized system is implemented.
Limited Accessibility
Some libraries struggle with providing seamless access to their resources, especially in cases
where physical visits are not possible. Ensuring remote access to digital resources and online
catalogs is a common challenge
6. Objectives
The general objective of an online library management system is to efficiently and effectively
manage the resources and services in the catalog and the user based on appointment time to use
the books.
6.1. Specific objectives of the research
Ordering of book.
Reserved books for the user
Borrowed book for user or students
To add new books in the bookstore, check immediately.
The book is distributed fairly for the user, or all students access the book by appointment
time.
The user returns books by appointment time. check the attendance
To reduce loss of time
7. Methodology
Design Methodology of Online Library Management System
1. Requirements Gathering: The first step in designing an online library management system is
to gather requirements from stakeholders, including librarians, administrators, and users. This
involves understanding the needs and functionalities expected from the system.
2. System Design: In this phase, the architecture of the online library management system is
designed. This includes defining the database structure, user interface design, and system
modules.
3. Implementation: After the design phase, the actual development of the system takes place.
Programmers write code based on the design specifications to create the online library
management system.
4. Deployment: Once testing is complete and any issues are resolved, the online library
management system is deployed for use by librarians and users. Training sessions may also be
conducted to familiarize users with the new system.
5. Maintenance and Support: After deployment, ongoing maintenance and support are
essential to ensure the smooth functioning of the online library management system. Regular
updates, bug fixes, and user support are provided as needed.
Analysis methodology
Online Library Management System Analysis Methodology An online library management
system is a complex software application that requires a systematic approach to analyze and
evaluate its functionality, performance, and usability.
