Factory Radio Removal


1. Before proceeding, eject disc(s) from factory unit
if present. FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative battery Instrument Trimpanel


cable to prevent any electrical short.
Driver’s Knee Panel
3. Pry off driver’s knee panel (Figure 1).

4. Remove one (1) phillips screw from instrument


trimpanel exposed by removal of knee panel
(Figure 2).

5. Pry off instrument trimpanel. Disconnect wiring


harnesses to remove (Figures 3 & 4).

6. Pry off panel in storage compartment beside power outlet

7. Remove two (2) 8mm screws from cavity exposed by removal


of panel (Figure 6). Storage Compartment
8. Pry around radio/climate control assembly. Disconnect
wiring harnesses and remove assembly (Figures 7 & 8).

OEM Integration
This page addresses integrating aftermarket accessories such as
Bluetooth Adaptors, Auxiliary Input Adaptors, iPod Adaptors, etc., with a
R

factory radio system.

1. Remove factory radio following instructions on the previous pages.

2. Follow instructions supplied with the accessory device.

3. Connect optional adaptor to input as shown.

4. Reconnect all wiring harnesses including airbag, then reconnect battery. Test
operation of adaptor and reassemble dash by reversing disassembly steps.

1. Secure receiver to mounting bracket following (2 of 4 screws
instructions supplied with the dash kit. Outer Rings shown)
2. Pry off outer rings on factory climate control knobs
(Figure 1).

3. Remove four (4) phillips screws from rear of climate


control assembly (Figure 2). Secure assembly to new (1 of 2 shown)
mounting bracket in the same manner.

4. Remove vent assembly, airbag light and hazard switch


from factory panel. Secure each to new mounting
bracket.

5. Make wiring connections following instructions


supplied with the receiver wiring adaptor.
If vehicle has factory-equipped amplifier: See the Receiver Assembly
next page to access and bypass the amplifier (if not
using the integration adaptor which retains the
amplifier). Return to this page to complete receiver
installation.

6. Hold receiver assembly near dash. Connect receiver


wiring adaptor to vehicle harness. Using the antenna
adaptor, plug antenna lead into rear of receiver.

7. Slide assembly into dash and secure with screws


previously removed.

8. Reconnect all wiring harnesses including airbag, TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Bypassing the amplifier is not necessary if


using the receiver wiring interface that retains
the steering wheel controls, factory amplifier FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2

1. Use a 14mm open end wrench to loosen gear shift
nut. Unscrew gear shift knob and nut to remove
(Figure 1).

2. Pull up shift boot trimpanel to release clips and


remove (Figure 2).

3. Pry up shift trimpanel to release clips and remove Shift Boot Trimpanel
(Figure 3).

4. Disconnect wiring harnesses from amplifier (Figure 4).


Connect bypass harness following instructions
supplied.

1. Locate the amplifier under the driver’s seat.

No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from
Crutchfield for this speaker location. It will be necessary to

splice wires in order to install an aftermarket speaker.

No speaker adaptor bracket is available at this time for this


location. A mounting bracket must be fabricated in order to
install an aftermarket speaker.
Speaker/Grille Assembly
1. Pry up speaker/grille assembly starting at pry point
and work toward center of vehicle (Figure 1). Pry Point

2. Once rear edge is loose, lift assembly and pull toward


rear of vehicle. Disconnect wiring harness and
remove.

3. Pry speaker off of grille (Figure 2).

4. Determine a method to mount the new speaker to the


factory grille. Secure speaker to grille. Note: It may
be necessary to acquire mounting hardware. FIGURE 2
5. Make wiring connections following instructions on
page 16. Return to this page to complete installation.

6. Install speaker/grille assembly.

1. Pry off “sail” panel to remove (Figure 1).

2. Pry out tab on cover behind door release to

6. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel to release clips.

assembly. Pry speaker from the top, then lift,
disconnect and remove (Figure 8).

to vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker/bracket
assembly to location with screw previously removed. FIGURE 7b
10. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel by
reversing removal steps.

1. Pry out tab on cover behind door release to


remove (Figure 1).

2. Remove one (1) exposed phillips screw.

5. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel to release clips.
Lift panel out enough to release door lock and door FIGURE 5a
release cables. Remove panel (Figures 5a & 5b).

6. Remove one (1) phillips screw securing speaker. Pry


speaker from the top, then lift, disconnect and remove Door Release and Door Lock Cables
(Figure 6).

7. Secure speaker to adaptor bracket.

8. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker


to vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker/bracket
assembly to location with screw previously removed.

9. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel by FIGURE 5b


reversing removal steps.

1. Fold down rear seat back using seat release in trunk.

2. Remove two (2) phillips screws from front edge of rear deck panel,
if present (Figure 1).

3. Pry up rear deck panel to release retaining clips (Figure 2). Rear Deck Panel

4. Pull down trunk light trimpanel to access brake light harness.


Disconnect brake light harness from trunk side (Figures 3 & 4).

5. Work center seat belt through slot in rear deck panel.
Lift panel and pull toward front of vehicle to remove
(Figure 5).

6. Remove one (1) phillips screw securing speaker


assembly (Figure 6). Disconnect speaker wiring
harness and remove speaker.

7. Secure speaker to adaptor bracket.

8. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement FIGURE 5


speaker to vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker/

9. Using a utility knife, carefully cut the thin plastic ring

on the back of the factory grille to allow for sufficient
speaker height (Figure 7).

10. Test speaker operation and reassemble rear of vehicle


by reversing disassembly steps.

! CAUTION:
Always be careful when drilling or cutting in a vehicle. WEAR

windows, fuel lines and safety devices. Check depth and
location to avoid damage to vehicle appearance.

1. Starting at the front inner edge and working toward the


trunk, pry up speaker grille to release. Lift grille and pull

toward side of vehicle to remove (Figure 1).

2. Remove one (1) phillips screw securing speaker. Lift


speaker, disconnect wiring harness and pull toward center
of vehicle to remove (Figures 2 & 3).

3. Secure new speaker to adaptor bracket.

4. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker to


vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker/bracket
assembly to location with screw previously removed.

Rear Deck Subwoofer (EX & SI Coupes Only)


! IMPORTANT:

The factory speaker receives only bass frequencies. If
replaced with an aftermarket speaker, the new speaker Rear Deck Panel
will only produce bass.

The speaker purchased may or may not be supplied


with mounting screws and it may be necessary to

1. Fold down rear seat back.

2. Pull up front edge of rear deck panel to


release hooks (Figure 1).

3. Place hand under center of rear deck


panel, then push up to release ten (10)
retaining clips. Work seat belt through FIGURE 3
slot in panel and remove (Figure 2).

4. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing


speaker to bracket. Pull out speaker,
disconnect and remove (Figure 3).

5. Place new speaker in location and mark


new mounting holes. Remove speaker
and drill holes with a 1/8" bit.

6. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle speaker
harness. Secure speaker to location.
