Robo-Olympics
Introduction :
Welcome to Robo-Olympics, an exciting technical event that tests engineering and
programming skills in an intense line-following race! Teams will compete to design
and build an autonomous robot that can navigate a challenging course by following
a black line on a white background. The robot that completes the course in the short
-est time with the highest precision will be declared the winner.
Event Format :
• Team Event: Robo-Olympics is a team-based event with each team consisting of
3 to 4 members.
• Objective: The aim is for each team's robot to autonomously follow a black line
on a white background, including several 90-degree turns, and reach the destin
ation in the least time while maintaining smooth and accurate travel.
General Rules and Conduct :
• Autonomy Requirement: Each robot must be fully autonomous, without any manual
intervention during the race.
• Power Supply: Participants are required to arrange their own batteries and power sup
ply for the robot must be on the board.
• Team Leadership: Only the designated team leader is permitted to handle the robot
on the track before and after each race attempt.
• Track Conduct: Teams should avoid interfering with other robots or teams, and must
keep to designated areas during the competition.
• Team Identification: Each team will receive an identification number that must be vis
ible on the robot for tracking and judging purposes.
Event Rules :
• Race Setup: The course consists of a continuous black line with several 90-degree turns
on a white background.
• Track Navigation: The robot must remain on the line and complete the course without
losing track. Leaving the line will result in penalties or disqualification.
• Completion Requirement: The robot that reaches the endpoint in the least time with
minimal errors will be declared the winner.
• Handling Restrictions: During the race, only the team leader is allowed to handle the
robot, and only at designated times as permitted by the event coordinators.
Judging Criteria :
The judging panel will assess each team's robot based on the following criteria:
1. Time Taken to Complete the Track – The primary criterion for winning will be the
time taken to reach the endpoint.
2. Smoothness of Travel – The robot's ability to navigate the track smoothly without
jerking or sudden stops will be rated.
3. Sensor Accuracy – The precision with which the robot follows the line, particularly
through turns, will be evaluated.
4. Model Design – Judges will assess the overall build quality, stability, and creativity
of the robot design.
• Final Decision: The judges' decisions are final, and any disputes must be resolved by
adhering to the judges' ruling.
Safety and Conduct Protocols :
• Safety Measures: Teams must handle their robots responsibly to avoid
damage or injury.
• Respectful Conduct: All participants are expected to respect event
organizers, judges, and other teams. Misconduct or rule violations may lead
to disqualification.
Terms and Conditions :
• Intellectual Property: All designs and models are the property of the respective
teams.
• Liability: The organizers are not responsible for any damages or injuries during
the event.
