Lab 01 - Box
Lab 02 – Rectangular Cross Section

Objective: To simulate 25 X 50 Rectangle Static Structurally

Step 1: Open Static Structural in Ansys Workbench

Step 2: Add Material in Engineering Data

Step 3: Select XY Plane and Use Look At Feature
In the sketching section, sketch a rectangle and give dimensions of 50m by 25m.

Then Extrude 1270mm:

Step 4: Generate Mesh

Step 5: Add Fixed Support and Force in the Analysis

Step 6: Solve the Study and Obtain Results
Lab 03 – I Beam
Objective: To design an I – Beam and perform static structural analysis.

Step 01:
Add Materials from Engineering Data Tab
1) Concrete
2) Titanium
3) Structural Stell

Step 02:
Open Design Modeller, From Concept Tab -> Insert I – Beam of dimensions 25X25X30 and
1X1X2.5

Step 03:
Open Mechanical and Generate Mesh of the I – Beam. (element size = 0.0010m)
Step 04:
Apply Constraints and Force:
1) Fixed Supports on 2 I – Faces
2) 1000N Force on the Upper Face

Step 05:
Solve to obtain results

Results

Lab 04 – T Beam with Convergence
Objective: To perform analysis on a T – Beam with convergence.

Step 1: Material Addition

Add the material of own choice using isotropic elasticity and Young’s Modulus of 1840 GPA
and Poisson Ratio of 0.25

Step 2: Geometry
Create a T section and extrude, fillet the longer edges by 0.005m
Step 3: Mesh
Generate Mesh

Step 4: Loading Conditions

Make the T cross sections fixed and apply a torque at the bottom face
Step 5: Solution
Solve the model and add convergence of 15%

Lab 05 – T Beam With & Without Sharp Edges

Objective: To perform static structural analysis on a T Beam with and without sharp edges
Step 1:
Add Material form Engineering Data Tab

Step 2:
Make a T Beam with Appropriate dimensions in Design Modeler

Step 3:
Apply boundary conditions, fix the 2 T cross sections and apply different magnitudes of force
on the bottom face
Step 4:
Generate Mesh of the T beam

Step 5:
Solve to get the results and obtain maximum stress on different magnitudes of applied
forces

Step 6:
In the Design Modeler add fixed radius on sharp edges of 0.0035m
Step 7:
Repeat Steps 3 – 5 to obtain maximum stresses for different magnitudes of applied forces

Step 8:
Compare the maximum stresses
