01.07 Performance
The aluminum curtain wall system has a face width of 50 mm. The support structure is always located on
the inside of the facade, and is composed of vertical and horizontal box profiles which are self-supporting
with a tread in function of the span. The insulated panels are attached using aluminum clip lists. The whole
is finished with aluminum cover strips which clips on side of the terminal blocks.
The system can be applied both vertically and at a certain angle.
The performance of the system must be demonstrated by various certificates and test reports which list is
given below:
• ISO 9001 certification of the system supplier (quality from development to delivery).
• the results of the system performed thermal calculations (according to EN 10077-2 and are covered with
the calculations under certification BCCA), lie between the following values:
2.05 < U ≤ 2.47 W / m2 K for insulated panel thickness of 24 mm
• a comprehensive European ETA approval for the structural bonding of the wings for the top hung with A /
G 020 123.
• Wind, water and air tightness test in accordance with current European standards.
• ITT test reports in accordance with the product standard EN 13830 which is applicable in the context of
CE marking which is required.
Copies of these certificates and test reports shall, upon request of the architect, immediately can be
submitted.
The manufacturer should work according to the applicable product standard EN 14351-1. The CE marking
must be submitted documents (CE-label, controlled substances declaration and the declaration of
conformity) to be like a trial certificate, issued by a Belgian Notified Body, which demonstrates that the
production conforms to the EN 14351-1.
01.07.01 Profiles
The aluminum profiles are extruded from the alloy EN-AW6060B according to EN 573-3 with additional
requirements in order to increase corrosion resistance: Zn ≤ 0.15%, Cu ≤ 0.02%, Pb ≤ 0.022%, Si: 0.30 -
0.55%, Fe: 0,10 - 0,30%, Mg 0.35 - 0.60%, Mn ≤ 0.10%, Cr ≤ 0.05%, Ti ≤ 0.10%, other elements
individually ≤ 0.05%, along ≤ 0.15%. The mechanical characteristics conforming to the standard EN 755-2
abatement T66 or DIN 1748-1 with F22. Tolerances are based on standard EN 12020-2 and DIN 17615-3.

The vertical supporting profiles are composed of a chamber profile with drainage channels, screw
channels, and sealing channels for the panel gaskets. In the chamber profile can be slid an aluminum
reinforcement profile or a standard galvanized steel tube. The depth of the vertical support profiles should
be chosen in function of the span and to include in the load and may vary from 41.5 mm, 62.5 mm, 83.5
mm, 104.5 mm, 125.5 mm, 146.5 mm, 167.5 mm, 188.5 mm to 230,5mm.
The horizontal cross sections have a depth of 23.7 mm, 46.2 mm, 67.2 mm, 88.2 mm, 109.2 mm, 130.2
mm, 151.2 mm, 172.2 mm or 193.2 mm. This allows to place their inner surface or recessed relative to the
inner side of the carrier profiles, in function of the loads and the desired aesthetics.
The clamping frames are special stainless steel screws and washers in plastic in the continuous screw
channel of the base attached with a H.O.H. distance of 300 mm.
They ensure optimum clamping of filler panels. Then, the aluminum cover profiles are clipped onto the clip
lists.
The clamping frames and caps on the outer side have a width of 50 mm.
To ensure a proper connection between the covers, we opt for a different depth for vertical and horizontal
caps.
The standard horizontal and vertical cover profiles are of the type *:
• rectangular (completion of 3 mm) closed with a depth of 14.3; 17.3; 22.8; 49.3; 75 or 100 mm
• rectangular (completion of 0.5mm) closed with a depth of 13, 15 or 22 mm
• rounded with a depth of 30.7 or 50 mm
• elliptical in shape with a depth of 114 mm
• in U-shape with a depth of 37,3 mm
• in U-shape with a depth of 35 mm with a regular and visible positioning of the screws every 30 cm,
without cover confirmed
• flat with a depth of 6.8 or 9.5 mm with a regular and visible positioning of the screws to the 30 cm.
• rectangular with a fin of 8 mm wide and a total depth of 35 or 55 mm
• rectangular with a fin of 10 mm in width and a total depth of 32.8 mm
• trapezium shaped, with a depth of 33.7 mm
• trapezium-shaped clamping strip having a width of 46 mm, a depth of 12.5 mm and an additional cover
profile with a width of 19.5 mm for concealed fixing
• Area with a depth of 5 mm, placed countersunk screws, which are covered by means of a seal or
sealant. The profile is placed with a continuous glazing seal made from one piece.
The structural profiles have a nominal thickness of between 1.7 and 4.7 mm. This wall thickness is
system-related and is calculated by the system supplier, depending on the profile geometry, the size of the
profile and the functionality.

01.07.02 Assembling profiles
On assembly, the support and overlap each other transverse sections. This method makes it possible to
drain the horizontal cross sections in the vertical supporting profiles, without that the vertical drainage
chamber is interrupted.
In the gasket channel of the vertical support profiles is applied an EPDM-end seal that seals the overlap
between both profiles without the use of silicone. The horizontal cross sections are then secured with
stainless steel screws on the bearing sections in which the contact pressure between the two ensures a
good seal.
The connection of both profiles on the inner side can be realized in different ways *:
• Either by U-shaped connection T-profiles provided with different screw channels. These connectors are
screwed to the trunking and disappear completely in the rectangular room of the cross section.
• Either by inserting a pre-formed support piece in the space provided in the inner chamber of the cross
section. This connector has a spring system settles into a round hole of 10 mm in the trunking.
• For the fixation of oblique cross-sections, use is made of a circular T-connectors fitted with different
screw channels. These connectors are screwed to the trunking and disappear completely in the
rectangular room of the cross section.
Compound Cuffs at the height of the vertical transition with horizontal profiles can finish the whole along
the inner side.
01.07.03 Seal Rubbers
The panels gaskets and connection cuffs are in EPDM, according to TV 110.
Inner panel gaskets
The difference in level of the sealing channels, created by the overlap of the transverse and supporting
profiles, is picked up by the use of different panel gaskets in the carrier and transverse profiles.
In spite of their difference in thickness within the sight of the seals remains the same. L-shaped sealing
elements provided in the cross section which ensure this.
The couplings between the various inner rubbers should be sealed at the level of the corners with a
suitable vulcaniseer so that it remains completely airtight.
Outer panel gaskets
Small differences in thickness between the infills panels can possibly be compensated for by making use
of different rubbers with the same view.
If one were to make use of silicon, instead of the classic glazing gaskets, nylon spacers will be positioned
at the level of the clamping sections as justification. A joint bottom, followed by a flexible sealing can then
be easily fitted.

For sloped glazing is an additional aluminum adhesive butyl tape be provided on the glass edges as an
extra seal. The membrane is pressed onto the glass edge by means of the two EPDM rubbers, clamped in
the clamping strip.
01.07.04 Drainage
The partitioning EPDM rubbers are continuously placed on a hard PVC insulator that continuously, in turn,
is in the screw channel of the transverse sections. The insulator and the partitioning seal guiding water
from the cross sections into the mullions or directly to the outside through small drainage canals, milled in
clamming and cover profile and thus ensure that the possible infiltration of water never remains on the
panel edges.
At the height of the coupling of the vertical support profiles (in the same plane or at a certain angle) will be
in hard PVC drainage pieces screwed into the drainage channels and glued. As a result, the interruption of
the drainage channel is bridged, creating a continuous drainage channel for the drainage of any water
infiltration.
01.07.05 Vertical angles in facets
If the vertical angle between two neighboring filling panels is less than 150 °, the support profile is
adjusted by an auxiliary profile. For example, a corner is formed of 135 ° or 157 ° 30 '. This auxiliary profile
is screwed into the screw channel of the trunking.
In addition, the vertical angles can be up to 22 ° 30 'are picked up by the use of custom glazing gaskets.
By combining the auxiliary profiles with these custom glazing seals, a variety of angles is obtained ranging
from 120 ° to 210 °.
The auxiliary profiles receive a customized clip frame and cover.
The outside corners of 90 ° (plus or minus 15 °) and 135 ° (plus or minus 15 °) may also be carried out
with the aid of special support profiles.
01.07.06 Horizontal angles for transition façade - roof
The transition from a vertical to an inclined facade plane is performed as follows *:
• with two custom cross-sections, whereby the angle can vary between 95 ° and 135 °. This angle will get
a suitable clamping strip and a cover profile, whether or not provided with a channel profile. The density
between the two transverse profiles is assured on the inside by a hinged sealing in EPDM.
• with two transverse profiles in angle against each other, filled in with an aluminum sandwich panel.
Before placing the clamping sections are provided with a self-adhesive aluminium butyl tape.

01.07.07 Dilatation
The cross sections are fixed on the carrier profiles in such a way that the horizontal dilation remains
possible. On the inside a black EPDM seal can be provided between the vertical and the horizontal
support structure.
Vertical expansion joints are carried out with an aluminum expansion profile, adapted to the inner
dimensions of the inner chamber of the different support profiles. They are applied in the inner chamber of
two support profiles placed one below the other. The expansion profile is screwed together with the PVC
coupler in the upper bracket profile. Afterwards, this connector is sealed.
The joint between the supporting sections is also sealed with silicon in such a way that the density
remains assured between the support profile and the PVC coupling piece.
01.07.08 Fixed infills
Filler panels are along the outside mounted on extruded aluminum glass supports, which are hooked into
the transverse profiles (2 pieces per filling). the support is chosen in function of the panel weight.
Venting of filler panels must be provided.
The thickness differences between glass and / or filler panels can be accommodated by the use of
different thicknesses of inside rubbers (up to max. 4 mm difference). With larger differences, use is made
of aluminum infill profiles which are applied in the sealing channels of the carrier profiles, and wherein the
inner rubbers clips on side.
01.07.09 Placement and anchorages
The vertical support profiles will be on the structural elements of the building shell attached by means of
appropriate anchoring pieces in aluminum or galvanized steel.
The anchoring of the aluminum elements to the building should be so carried out to be taken care of
which movements of the building, without causing loads are transferred to the aluminum constructions.
In addition, the anchors are carried out in such a way that it remains possible for the free dilatation of the
facade. This means that there wind anchorages and weight anchorages must be provided.
It is recommended to design the fixings that can be accommodated tolerances for structural work.
EPDM waterproofing membrane provided between the shell and the drainage level of the wall
construction, should ensure waterproof and windproof. Particular care must be given to the correct
placement of these membranes in the corners so that it remains completely closed.
At the foot of the aluminum construction the sealing membrane should the possible infiltration of water
that comes into the vertical supporting profiles to be disposed outside. A milled indentation behind the
drainage channel of the trunking allows the membrane is clamped behind the drainage channel and thus
drain the water infiltration.
Custom distance profiles, consisting of an inert material with limited thermal conductivity, and having a
thickness similar to that of the fill material of the curtain wall, to ensure the correct placement of the

clamping sections and the covers around the aluminum structure.
On the outer side of the facade construction, the building connections, depending on the nature of the
building and the materials used.
When using an aluminum profile (default profile or creased plate), the gap must always be provided with a
sealing tape and an elastic joint sealant.
