Abstract

Abstract
Every student in India decides their career after completing their 10th standard. The step
which they take after 10th will decide their future. Career choice after 10th is not just an easy
task to decide upon. One needs to understand his strength, area of interest and then decide
which stream to take to have a fruitful career. Counselling the student after 10th is very
important because today there are many courses available in the colleges and schools.
Students are confused on what course to take and what course to leave. Just imagine a 10th
pass student has to choose his career with a mind full of confusion on whether to choose
between science, maths, commerce, computer science and to proceed on for 11th and 12th or
to choose a diploma and go to junior college. Besides traditional courses a 10th passed
student today has many other opportunities such as programming, catering, app development,
call centre courses and so on. Hence, choosing a career is not easy for students, a proper
guidance with proper assessing of the students calibre and interest will pave success in the
long run. If you have known any student who is doing their 10th standard or have completed
their 10th and dreaming about what to do after, then please direct them to us. We will help
them choose the best career after 10th.

Literature Survey

7
Literature Survey
To make the most of your career counselling process, students keep asking questions to
clarify their doubts. It’s actually a healthy way to start this career planning journey.
Sometimes, as a career counsellor, you are required to ask questions and break the ice. In
some cases, students create a list of questions to be asked to their counsellors and in this case,
this blog could really help you out.

Asking the students some questions to know them better and to know what they are feeling
Here are some questions that have been asked in a survey..

System Analysis

System Analysis
You cannot get complete information about the courses which can be select after 10th in one
search. Here we are trying to get you the complete information about the courses and how can
you build a great profile after 10th. Many of the websites will give you the information about
a specific course or half the courses but in this website u can have the complete information
about the courses which you have after 10th. “Choices are the hinges of destiny.”- Edwin
Markham.
The conclusion of secondary education happens at the end of the 10th standard. However, at
this point in your educational journey, you will have to choose between completing senior
secondary schooling in either the Commerce stream, Arts, or Science stream or opting
directly from a long list of courses after the 10th standard. Rather than moving to 11th
standard, many students go for skill development courses or training programs that can get
them placed in their field of interest. If you are planning to pursue a program right after the
10th but don’t know where to start, then you have certainly come to the right place! Here is a
detailed blog that elaborates on a comprehensive list of courses after the 10th standard and the
varied benefits they offer. So, Career Guidance After 10th gives confidence to students in
order to choose the right career after their completion of board examinations. There won’t be
any necessity to panic or become anxious even if they have scored lesser marks in it. The
matter of fact is that in today’s generation of self-starters, the number of options open to
students is several and varied. It is not recommended to make confusion between commerce
and science is an essential factor in simplifying the career after class 10. The course of study
after this class may be more generalized, but they are significant in giving a student a solid
foundation for career courses after schooling. Doing the research in advance can save
students time and, hasty decisions dues to parental/peer pressure. It is significant to pursue a
field that a student is usually passionate about. Students should seek career guidance as early
as class 10th and 12th. After everything, having to choose a lot in life.
An e-learning app found 10th grade students are unclear about their career path as they do not
know about the different fields or professions that they can explore. As a UX Designer, you
want to understand the behaviour of students with respect to their decisions related to career
and the factors that influence their decisions. Plan a research to identify the factors for the
business.
Most of the youth are suffering for the same. They’re being stressed out and depressed. Some
of them are even suiciding for choosing the wrong career paths. Because we don’t know what
is there in the user’s mind, we don’t know their context. So, we can’t jump directly to a
conclusion. If we assume ourselves as users, we design solutions for ourselves. It may not
satisfy the requirements of real users. It helps to gather more statistical, behavioural insights.
It helps to get much more information before jumping into user interviews and conclusion.
I’ve browsed several articles from national and international Papers, Magazines, and blogs.
These are the insights that I got while performing my desk research.

13
Statistical Insights
93% of the students aged 14 to 21 were aware of just seven career options though there are
more than 250 different types of job options available in India. Around 85% of students are
concerned about which option to choose for higher education and 92% don’t get any
careerrelated guidance from their schools. India has seen a massive rise in cases of depression
and anxiety for people aged between 15 to 29 years. Parents tried to exert influence over their
choice of career or course, with 69% saying their parents tried to influence their choice of
university. 94% of engineering graduates are not fit for hiring. Only 1.7 % of engineers have
the skills needed to work in new-age jobs. 60 % of faculty doesn’t talk about the application
of concepts in the industry Factual Insights:
India has only a limited number of trained career counsellors available who can assist and
guide students to make the correct career decision among the plethora of choices available
today. Parents need to remember that shaping a student’s profile with the right set of activities
in sync with their strength, capability and dreams is the way forward. Very often we come
across students who have a broad idea of what they wish to do but don’t have the resources to
plan it end to end. In such scenario parents are often found to vary of such plans and this
leads to parents asserting their own choices. Way of learning & Teaching also plays a key
role. It’s all about Ratification, CGPA, Class Copy. It’s not about Research, Projects,
Entrepreneurship, etc. The fear of being judged for scoring less and making career choices
has always led to students choosing the wrong career. Lack of interest is the main reason for
lack of dedication. I have used these insights in the Primary research stage to frame questions
that are more precise. To give career guidance for them, so that they can choose the correct
career path. Lack of awareness in students, parents and teachers is the main reason for the
issue.
5 W’s — WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE & WHY to understand the Problem Statement:
It is important to understand the problem statement because without digging deep in it. I
would have a very broad perspective towards looking at user problems. To narrow down the
problem statement, it is necessary to dig deeper and understand the user to its core. Problem
statement just tells you the area where the research is needed but after digging it deeper i
could understand which part I could work upon to solve user problems.

WHO
Who are its primary users?
Students who are about to finish their school life in 2–3 years.
Who is most unclear about their career path?
Student who has less knowledge in which career he would be good at Who
all are already working towards this scenario?
Currently students could find career options related information on websites. Also can take
counselling sessions for career direction.
Who will be affected by this change?
Students would be able to make right decisions and parents would also have greater trust if it
is said/approved by the third person.

WHAT
• What can be the different career options? Today besides being a doctor and engineer,

14
there are many different options for students to carry on.

15
• What could be done for students to be clear about their career? A platform where
students could get all the career options in addition with a counsellor who guides them
what would be best for them.
• What initiatives have already been taken? There are existing counselling sites and
some review sites where career options could be selected from.
• What all factors influence their decisions towards choosing their career? Parents,
Resources, Awareness, Interests
• What kind of behaviour of parents plays a role in a student’s career options? Parents
who are ready to consider new career options for their children helps the child in
making the choice he is interested in.
• What tells students in which career they could be good at? A proper counselling session.

WHEN
● When students get ready to choose their career path? There is no age bias here but yes
by 12th class he should have an idea where he wants to go next.
● When students find most difficulty in their decisions? When they are less clear in
which Career they would be good at.

WHERE
● Where do students find all the career options? There is no particular site where all
career options come but students could search according to a particular field.
● Where do students get the career path according to their choices? Students get a career
path according to their choice when they know about the particular field they are
interested in.
● Where students find the most issues? In finding the right career choice for them.
● Where students let others take decisions on their behalf? When they trust that person
would suggest them right.
● Where students could choose a path and know about its pros and cons? Reading in
detail about the career path along with its reviews would help students.

WHY
● Why is helping students in making the right decision for a career important? So that
they don’t end up wasting their time on doing nothing. Also, making the right career
decision in their initial phase of education would be helpful.
● Why is proper awareness of each profession important? To choose the best option
suitable for them, students should have knowledge of each career path available for
them. ● Why is understanding the factors which influence the students’ decision
important? Understanding those factors would help further in making the right career
decision for the student.
● Why is an E-learning app important for the students? An application would be more
important where all the career knowledge as well as counselling sessions is at one
16
place.

17
Proposed System
After completing their tenth grade, every kid in India chooses a job. Their future
will depend on the actions they take after finishing grade 10. After grade 10,
choosing a career is not always simple. To choose a successful job path, one
must first determine their areas of interest and strengths. Because there are so
many courses accessible in colleges and schools today, counselling the student
after the tenth grade is crucial. Students are unsure of which subject to enrol in
and which to drop. Imagine a 10th grader who must decide between science,
math, business or computer science as a vocation and whether to continue on to
the 11th and 12th grades or to get a diploma and attend junior college. A student
who has completed their 10th grade now has a variety of different options,
including programmes in programming, catering, app development, call centre
training, and more. As a result, selecting a job is not an easy task for students.
Long-term success will be facilitated by competent counselling combined with
an accurate assessment of the students' aptitude and interests. Please refer any
students you know who are enrolled in or have completed the tenth grade and
are considering their options for the future to us. We'll aid them in selecting the
greatest post-tenth grade career.

Problem Definition
Whichever your situation is, at one point or other, you have gone through or will go through
some queries. So we have found some solutions for that and here are the answers. When you
ask your students what are their biggest strengths, weaknesses, interests, and more, they
usually get confused. Surely, they list out some points but there could always be some major
points left behind. Identifying their personality traits can help them choose a career that they
enjoy. Their strengths include skills like research skills, communication, problem-solving
abilities, teamwork, interpersonal skills and more. This varies from person to person and the
profession they want to pursue. To articulate their strengths, you can assess them first with
the help of psychometric tests and accordingly suggest to them what and how to improve
further. This will only not help them build their strengths but also working on their
weaknesses as well.
Career planning is a long process. It does not work in such a way that students choose any
subject, any stream and suddenly, they start making career decisions. Planning itself is a
synonym for creating well-thought and research proposals. Hence, career planning is totally
dependent on stream, course, and subject selection. Once, students ask you how to choose a
course and career, ask them to list down their likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, and other
personality traits. Current academic performance, future goals, and so on, also play an
important role in course & career selection. You can also take up Course, Subject, Career
Selector Tests to help your student make the right decision. These are scientific &
personalized tools for students to determine the best-fit career, course, combination of
18
subjects etc. Through

19
a deep analysis of current academic performance, individual strengths, and future career
dreams, take a student from confusion to clarity.
In today’s world, the competition has been increasing rapidly. Students are getting good
marks and due to similar academic scores, universities & colleges have changed their
admission processes. Now, top universities look for a holistic student profile before granting
admission. Therefore, students look for professionals who can help them in building a strong
profile and getting them into their dream college. Therefore, you should understand various
aspects of admissions to lead universities. You can help students in creating a holistic profile
with the help of proMap. ProMap is a program that helps students in creating college-ready
profiles. Your student needs to stand out from the crowd and for this, he/she must build a
relevant profile. You can help them with advanced technologies & make their dreams come
true.

The majority of students go through a lot of pressure, anxiety and pressure while planning
their careers. Not only students, but their parents also feel the same until their kids find the
right career path. As a career counsellor, you can help these students and parents in career
planning and reduce anxiety & pressure. To do so, you need to make them understand that it’s
just a process & you’ll be there for them in every situation. You can start by talking to them,
break the ice and guide them in every stage. You can start with knowing their personality
traits & accordingly suggest courses, colleges, career options, etc. Meanwhile, tell them to
research various career opportunities according to their interests. If they are very anxious,
suggest them to make a proper routine, do some sort of physical activities, read inspirational
books, and of course, focus on their studies.

If you have conflicts between you and your parents, it’s important to resolve them. First, let’s
understand the situation, student’s requirements, parents’ expectations, their financial
condition, and accordingly, decide what to do and how. If handled properly, these conflicts
don’t turn into long-term problematic patterns. As a career professional, listen to both parties,
understand their requirements, and create a win-win situation for both sides. Don’t take side
any of the parties, just be fair & help them with the best career decision.

This is one of the most common questions asked in career counselling. In this advanced era,
kids are totally into technology. Along with their daily lives, they look for technical aspects in
everything, in career counselling also. That’s why as a career counsellor, you must use
21stcentury tools & technologies to help them effectively & in a satisfying manner. Along
with clients’ satisfaction, tools are also important to help you navigate through the
process. With the help of technology, it’s easier to know about the clients, their mindsets,
capabilities, and more. Not only about the clients, but you can also search for various career
options, courses, colleges, countries according to their interests and capabilities.
Objective
To make the students (10th passed out) have a better overview of the courses that they have in
hands and making sure that they choose what they like.

Visual Studio Code

Visual Studio Code is a lightweight but powerful source code editor which runs on your
desktop and is available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
22
Visual Studio Code, also commonly referred to as VS Code, is a source-code editor made by
Microsoft with the Electron Framework, for Windows, Linux and macOS. Features include

23
support for debugging, syntax highlighting, intelligent code completion, snippets, code
refactoring, and embedded Git. Users can change the theme, keyboard shortcuts, preferences,
and install extensions that add functionality. In the Stack Overflow 2022 Developer Survey,
Visual Studio Code was ranked the most popular developer environment tool among 71,010
respondents, with 74.48% reporting that they use it.

Features-
Visual Studio Code is a source-code editor that can be used with a variety of programming
languages including C, C++, Fortran, Go, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Python, Rust. It is based
on the Electron framework, which is used to develop Node.js web applications that run on the
Blink Layout engine. Visual Studio Code employs the same editor component (codenamed
"Monaco") used in Azure DevOps (formerly called Visual Studio Online and Visual Studio
Team Services).

HTML
The Hyper Text Markup Language or HTML is the standard markup language for documents
designed to be displayed in a web browser. It is often assisted by technologies such as
Cascading style sheets (CSS) and scripting language such as JavaScript. Web browser receive
HTML documents from a web server or from local storage and render the documents into
multimedia web pages. HTML describes the structure of a page semantically and originally
included cues for its appearance.
HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages. With HTML constructs, images and
other objects such as interactive forms may be embedded into the rendered page. HTML
provides a means to create structured documents by denoting structural semantics for text
such as headings, paragraphs, lists, links, quotes, and other items. HTML
elements are delineated by tags, written using image input angle brackets. Tags such
as and directly introduce content <p> into </p> the page. Other tags such as
and surround and provide information about document text
and may include sub-element tags. Browsers do not display the HTML tags but use them to
interpret the content of the page
CSS
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of
a document written in a markup language such as HTML or XML (including XML dialects
such as SVG, MathML or XHTML). CSS is a cornerstone technology of the World Wide
Web, alongside HTML and JavaScript.
CSS is designed to enable the separation of content and presentation, including layout, colors,
and fonts. This separation can improve content accessibility; provide more flexibility and
control in the specification of presentation characteristics; enable multiple web pages to share
formatting by specifying the relevant CSS in a separate. CSS file, which reduces complexity
and repetition in the structural content; and enable the .CSS file to be cached to improve the
page load speed between the pages that share the file and its formatting.

24
Separation of formatting and content also makes it feasible to present the same markup page
in different styles for different rendering methods, such as on-screen, in print, by voice (via
speech-based browser or screen reader), and on Braille-Based tactile devices. CSS also has
rules for alternate formatting if the content is accessed on a mobile device. The name
cascading comes from the specified priority scheme to determine which style rule applies if
more than one rule matches a particular element. This cascading priority scheme is
predictable. The CSS specifications are maintained by the World Wide Wb
Consortium (W3C). Internet
media type (MIME type) is registered for use with text/CSS CSS by RFC 2318 (March
1998). The W3C operates a free CSS validation service for CSS documents. In addition to
HTML, other markup languages support the use of CSS including XHTML, plain XML,
SVG, and XUL. CSS is also used in GTK widget toolkit.

A polytechnic course is a progressive learning experience in which students
can pursue a diploma or vocational degree based on technical education. These
courses are a legitimate alternative to degree programmes, and students can
pursue them after finishing high school. Polytechnic courses emphasize on the
development of skills and practical experience over theoretical knowledge.
Students obtain a diploma upon completion, which often qualifies them to seek
for jobs in their selected sector.

Conclusion
Career guidance can benefit individuals at various stages of their lives, including students
deciding on a college major, mid-career professionals seeking a career change, or individuals
who are unemployed and looking for new job opportunities. It can help individuals
understand their strengths and weaknesses, identify suitable career paths, and develop a plan
to achieve their career goals. Effective career guidance involves a combination of self-
assessment, exploration of career options, and practical strategies for achieving career goals.
This process can be facilitated through various channels such as career counselling, career
fairs, mentorship, online resources, and networking. Career guidance can be provided by
different professionals, such as career counsellors, coaches, and mentors. They can offer
advice, information, and resources to help individuals navigate their career journey. In
conclusion, career guidance is essential for individuals to make informed decisions about
their career and achieve their professional goals. It can provide them with the necessary
support to explore different career options, set achievable goals, and develop the skills and
knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen field.
