Fourth Quarter: Capstone Project
Lesson Plan
Title: Fourth Quarter Capstone Project: Research Methods in Biblical
Studies, Developing a Ministry Plan, Presentation of Capstone Projects,
Reflection and Future Goals
Week 1-2: Research Methods in Biblical Studies
Learning Objectives:
Understand various research methods used in Biblical studies
Develop skills in conducting research in Biblical studies
Analyze and evaluate different sources related to Biblical studies
Activities:
1. Research Methods Scavenger Hunt: Divide students into groups and
provide them with a list of research methods commonly used in Biblical
studies (such as textual analysis, historical-critical method, literary
criticism). Each group will have to find examples of these research
methods in scholarly articles, books, or online resources. This activity will
help students familiarize themselves with different research methods and
how they are applied in Biblical studies.
2. Source Evaluation Workshop: Provide students with a selection of
sources related to a specific Biblical topic. Students will work individually
to evaluate the credibility, accuracy, and relevance of each source. They

will then present their findings to the class and discuss the importance of
critically evaluating sources in Biblical research.
3. Research Proposal Development: On the final day of Week 2, students
will be tasked with developing a research proposal for their Capstone
Project. They will outline their research question, methodology, and
expected outcomes. This activity will help students begin thinking
critically about their own research projects.
Week 3-4: Developing a Ministry Plan
Learning Objectives:
Understand the components of a ministry plan
Develop a ministry plan based on Biblical principles
Identify goals and strategies for implementing a ministry plan
Activities:
1. Ministry Plan Brainstorming Session: In small groups, students will
brainstorm ideas for a ministry project based on a Biblical theme or
passage. They will discuss potential target audiences, goals, and
strategies for implementing the project. This activity will encourage
students to think creatively about how they can apply Biblical principles to
real-world ministry.
2. Ministry Plan Development Workshop: Students will work individually to
develop a detailed ministry plan for their Capstone Project. They will
outline the mission and vision of their ministry, identify key stakeholders,
and create a timeline for implementation. This activity will help students
translate their ideas into a concrete plan for ministry.
3. Ministry Plan Pitch: At the end of Week 4, students will pitch their
ministry plans to the class. They will have a few minutes to present their
project, explaining the rationale behind it and how it aligns with Biblical

principles. This activity will help students practice public speaking and
receive feedback on their ministry plans.
Week 5-6: Presentation of Capstone Projects
Learning Objectives:
Communicate research findings and ministry plans effectively
Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills in presenting Capstone
Projects
Receive feedback and engage in a dialogue with peers
Activities:
1. Capstone Project Presentation: Each student will have the opportunity
to present their Capstone Project to the class. They will have a set amount
of time to summarize their research findings, discuss their ministry plan,
and highlight key insights from their project. This activity will allow
students to showcase their work and receive feedback from their peers.
2. Peer Feedback Session: After each presentation, students will provide
constructive feedback to their classmates. They will offer suggestions for
improvement, ask clarifying questions, and engage in a dialogue about the
Capstone Projects. This activity will help students develop their critical
thinking and analytical skills by evaluating the work of others.
3. Reflection and Revision: Following the presentations, students will have
time to reflect on their own Capstone Projects and incorporate feedback
from their peers. They will revise their work based on the feedback
received and prepare a final version of their project for submission.
Week 7-8: Reflection and Future Goals
Learning Objectives:
Generate another lesson plan! 06/26/2024
Reflect on the Capstone Project experience and identify lessons learned
Set future goals based on insights gained from the Capstone Project
Develop a plan for continued growth and learning in Biblical studies and
ministry
Activities:
1. Capstone Project Reflection: Students will write a reflection paper on
their Capstone Project experience. They will discuss what they learned,
challenges they faced, and how they grew as a result of the project. This
activity will help students consolidate their learning and identify areas for
future improvement.
2. Future Goals Setting Workshop: In small groups, students will discuss
their future goals in Biblical studies and ministry. They will identify specific
areas they want to focus on, such as further research, ministry projects, or
professional development. Students will create a plan for achieving their
goals and hold each other accountable for their progress.
3. Vision Board Activity: To conclude the quarter, students will create a
vision board that represents their future goals in Biblical studies and
ministry. They will use images, quotes, and symbols to visualize their
aspirations and motivations. This activity will help students stay inspired
and focused on their goals as they continue their journey in Biblical
studies and ministry.
