The Statin Choice Decision Aid was created to help patients and
their clinicians to arrive at the best decision to reduce the risk of
future cardiovascular complications. The content reflects the best
available research on these medicines. This tool was developed by
the Mayo Clinic – Shared Decision Making Resource Center, based
on work conducted by researchers at the Knowledge and Evaluation
Research Unit (KER Unit). These researchers developed this tool
with the help of patients and clinicians with expertise in the
management of cardiovascular disease. The KER Unit does not
receive funding from any for-profit corporation including drug and
device companies.
