Lesson 1: The Human Person is Called to Live a Moral Life.

I. Motivation:
 Divide the students into small groups.
 Distribute handouts with various moral scenarios.
 Each group discusses their scenario and decides on the moral action
they would take.
II. Establishing the Lesson proper:
 What is Christian Morality?
III. Lesson Proper:
Christian Morality - refers to the ethical principles and values
derived from Christian teachings, primarily based on the Bible and the
life of Jesus Christ. It emphasizes love, compassion, forgiveness, and
justice. Key components include:
1. The Ten Commandments: Guidelines for ethical behavior found in the
Old Testament, covering duties to God and interpersonal relationships.
2. The Teachings of Jesus: Central to Christian morality are Jesus's
teachings on love, humility, and mercy, especially highlighted in the Sermon
on the Mount.
3. Love and Compassion: The commandment to love one's neighbor as
oneself and to show compassion, reflecting the idea that moral actions
should stem from love.
4. Sin and Redemption: Understanding sin as a moral failing and the
belief in redemption through repentance and faith in Jesus.
5. Social Justice: Many Christians emphasize caring for the marginalized
and advocating for justice, seeing this as a reflection of Christ’s teachings.

 Christian morality seeks to align one’s actions with the teachings of

Christ, aiming for a life that reflects love and ethical integrity.
- Christian faith is not selective of which Jesus’ teachings one would
like to follow.
 Christian Morality is not just a simple following of do’s and don’ts.
 Christian morality is the following of Jesus Christ in all our daily
actions, values, characters, and decisions.
 It is our positive response to Jesus daily calling “Come after me”
(Matthew 4:19)
 This positive response is our commitment to do well and avoid evil.
 To follow Jesus involves dying from our self-centeredness and sins in
order to rise to new life.

III. Activity:
