Overview
This document provides an overview of the modifications, changes and enhancements made to the
SDRconnect Application Software.

To operate this release with nRSP-ST, the firmware must be updated to at least 1.0.6

Added
• Center frequency drag tuning
• Hardware control indicator under the frequency display
• Controls for touchscreens

Changed
• Increased max FFT rate in the web client to match the desktop client

Corrected Defects
• The duration field in timed recordings had an issue when trying to select > 60 minutes
• Manual frequency entry cancels if selecting another control
• Recording folder in preferences didn’t support UNC paths
• Adjusting the filter bandwidth in VRX caused a crash

Notes:
• The administrator app supports configuring scheduled recordings to a network share (requires
1.0.6 firmware)
• The administrator app allows you to configure the IARU region for the web client (requires 1.0.6
firmware)

Preview 5 Update 2 build 0c0a9d6d7 (23rd November 2024)

Changed
• Incorporated an upstream fix in the UI toolkit that caused a memory leak on some platforms when
resizing the window
• Fixed a few missing scroll bars in various places

Defects
• Addressed the issue where the LO frequency was incorrectly parsed from an IQ wav file used in
IQ playback
• Fixed the antenna port selection sometimes automatically switching to the first port when setting
certain LO frequencies

Note: This is anticipated to be the final Preview release prior to 1.0

• Main and Aux waterfall contrast adjustment

• Updated to the latest Microsoft VC++ redistributable for Windows

Corrected Defects
• Crash and/or exception caused by preset filter parser in non-English locales
• PPM manual entry field now accepts negative values
• Frequency module missing a scrollbar around the tabs at the bottom of the panel
• Server service for Linux/ARM64 didn’t support correct use of systemctl disable/enable
• Reset layout disabled the ability to re-dock floating windows and now forces a close of
SDRconnect
• Band frame button state cleared when switching from KeyPad to Bands

* Note: on some platforms/OS distributions there are issues with floating docked windows including
resizing, repositioning and being the incorrect size/position when the application is started. This is related
to the latest version of the UI kit. The layout can be reset using the reset button in the Preferences menu.

• Improvements to the installer for Linux/ARM64 platform

Corrected Defects

More fixes and improvements, including:

• Fixed PMR bandwidth

• Server service not starting correctly on older OS versions after a reboot

Preview 4 build 5dce37273 (18th September 2024)

Added
• RDS decoder – supports both USA and rest of the world standards. Adds selected station name
into the spectrum view.
• Profiles – save and recall custom radio profiles.
• Timed recordings.
• USB surprise removal support in the client.
• Network disconnection support in the client.
• Installer option to setup SDRconnect as a server service for Linux/ARM64 platform.
• Step sizes added: 2.5 kHz and 7.5 kHz

Changed
• All platforms now moved to .NET 8 and latest versions of the UI/docking kit.
• Power measurement text moved to save space.
• Play button disabled whilst the device list is being refreshed.

Corrected Defects

Quite a number of fixes and improvements, including:

• Marine band should have used a wider sample rate.

• Prevent HDR and overload indicators remaining on under certain conditions.
• Fixed potential crash if IQ filename was manually modified.
• Server antenna selection always caused an update of all the hardware settings.
• Fixed audio start-up on Linux.

Defect fix to the updated Preview 3 public release:

• Changing sample rate did not always complete successfully during band framing.

Preview 3 Update 1 build 27e92b0c3 (19th May 2024)

Defect fixes and changes to the Preview 3 public release:

Changed
• Frequency module behaviour with cut/copy & paste and selection.

Corrected Defects
• Mac (x64 and ARM64) – crashes on exit due to issues with the json output.
• Some of the text either clipped by a bounding box or edge of a panel.
• VRXs not receiving changes from the main receiver.

Preview 3 build ab08e01fe (10th May 2024)

This release is the product of over 100 fixes and improvements including:

Added
• RSPdxR2 Support.
• Tabulated frequency module to store and manage frequencies.
• Audio recording pre-roll buffering with up to 10 seconds history.
• MPX view for WFM signals.
• Spectrum peak hold with decay added to the Audio SP view.
• Recording settings are now saved.

Changed
• Layout has been adjusted to make it look better on smaller screen resolutions.
• Several updates to both the spectrum and waterfall displays to improve the overall look and feel.

Corrected Defects
• RSPduo - in dual tuner mode, starting the stream would sometimes cause a crash.
• RSPduo – in dual tuner mode, changing the sample rate on the Primary tuner caused the
spectrum to stop until the stream was stopped/started or the sample rate was changed on the
Secondary tuner.
• Tuning the centre frequency past the 2 GHz upper limit using the scroll wheel.

Preview 2 Update 1 build 0274e9dcd (30th November 2023)

• When loading an IQ file saved in SDRuno, use the LO frequency from the file header.

Corrected Defects
• 40m band not showing the correct frequency span for regions 1 and 3.
• IQ file dropdown does not prompt for a file when it’s the only source available.
• Notch filter could be removed when adjusting the asymmetric filter.

• Server sometimes crashing on new client connections when max client limit reached
• Reset zoom to 0% when band framing to avoid the chance of displaying out of bounds bins
