Product Introduction
R421 is an advanced LT, CT operated, TOD / TOU type three-phase energy meter
used for large commercial and small/medium industrial connections. It has super
capacitor enabling it to display ON in-case of power outage/failure. To resolve
energy theft prevalent in local market, R421 is carefully designed with stringent
anti-tampering features. To offer highest level of flexibility, it can operate as a
standalone product.

Alternate Mode
Alternate mode is for security/diagnostic purpose. This mode is activated by
pressing the scroll button for 3 seconds. In this mode the window doesn’t scroll
automatically but it has to be scrolled manually. We can return to normal/
automatic mode by pressing the scroll button for 4 seconds, otherwise the
alternate mode switches to normal mode after 5 minutes. List of Alternate Mode
display windows are as under:
Remedy of Errors
If any error code from 01 to 25 and 42 to 45 appears on meter’s LCD, it is
recommended that the meter should be replaced. Whereas, if the meter shows
error codes from 26 to 40 then the meter should be reprogrammed.
Cautions
Caution is a precautionary expression which is displayed on the meter’s LCD
indicating a possible hazard. Caution does not indicate malfunctioning of the
meter but it represents only abnormal external condition (phase fail, over load
etc.). If any caution’s code displays, the meter will function accurately. Following
is a list of cautions with their respective codes, which will be displayed on LCD:
