(iii) Use graph paper for this question. (a) Plot the points A (3, 5) and
B (-2, -4). Use 1 cm = 1 unit on both axes. (b) A' is the image of A when reflected in the x
axis. Write down the coordinates of A' and plot it on the graph paper. (c) B' is the image of
B when reflected in the y axis, followed by reflection in the origin. Write down the
coordinates of B' and plot it on the graph paper. (d) Write down the geometrical name of
the figure AA'BB'. (e) Name two invariant points under reflection in the x axis.

(i) Manit deposits Rs 80 per month in a cumulative deposit account for six years. Find
the amount payable to him on maturity if the rate of interest is 6 % per annum.

11, 12, 14,18, (x + 4),30,32,35,41 arranged in ascending order is 24. Find x and
find the Mean. [Ans: x= 20, mean =23.67]

(iii) The line joining P (- 4, 5) and Q (3, 2), intersects the y axis at R. PM and QN are
perpendiculars from P and Q on the X axis. Find: (a) the ratio PR: RQ. (b) the co-
ordinates of R.

(i) A(1, 4), B(3, 2) and C(7, 5) are the vertices of a ∆ABC. Find: (a) the coordinates of
the centroid G of ∆ABC. (b) the equation of a line, through G and parallel to AB.

(ii) Using Componendo and Dividendo solve for x:

(iii) In the figure given below, P is a point on AB such that

Calculate the length of AR.

(i) The volume of a conical tent is 2156 m3 and the area of the floor is 616 m2.
Calculate the (a) radius of the base (b) height of the tent (c) length of canvas
required to cover the tent if the width is 2 m.( Give your answer to the nearest m)
[Ans: r =14, h = 10.5 , length of canvas = 385 m]

(ii) If b is the mean proportion between a and c,

Question 10

(i) A cylindrical can with a base radius of 3.5 cm contains sufficient water so that
when a sphere is placed in the can, the water just covers the sphere. Given that
the sphere just fits into the can, calculate (a) the total surface area of the can, in
contact with water when the sphere is put in it. (b) the depth of water in the can
before the sphere was put into the can. (Take π=22/7)

(i) The given block is made of two solids: a cone and a hemisphere. If the height
and the base-radius of the cone are 24 cm and 10 cm respectively and the
diameter of the hemisphere is 10 cm; find the total surface area of the block.
(Take π = 3.14)

[Ans: TSA = 1208.9 cm2 ]

(ii) Amidst the chilling whispers of a werewolf hunting Baskerville Hall, Sherlock
Holmes, from a 100 m tower, notices a beast with a 450 angle of depression. If
the beast is moving at 5 m/s, how much time Sherlock has before the figure
reaches the tower's base?
