3. WINMAG plus versions
Depending on version, WINMAG plus can be operated with different options. It is possible to change the
versions and to change the options.
3.1 Demo version
The demo version gives you an overall picture of the WINMAG plus performance capabilities. The demo
version permits unlimited operation as single-station version with all options. Networks can be connected and
messages/alarms processed. All editing functions are enabled.
The demo version support all Honeywell products (1 object each), but only with 15 I/O devices. WINMAG
plus enables to run all the available options, and will NOT allow the WINMAG plus network functionality
(Clients). A total of 15 I/O devices can be configured.
To enable demo operation without sensors and far-reaching knowledge of the system, demonstration data
are available that can simulate different types of alarms for demonstration purposes. Hereto, please refer to
the menu “Table view”, option “Simulation” for simulating alarms/messages.
After online operation of the demo version, you can still use the demo version for editing and simulation
through the menu option “Simulation” and is valid only for 15 I/O devices.
3.2 Single-station version
The single-station version permits the operation of WINMAG plus at one time at one station. Programming
and data environment is identical with the demo version.
In addition, the copy protection plug (dongle) and the license file contain the acquired option rights and a
unique update number. This number is required to order option extensions and updates.
Every computer can be configured to individual requirements and execute different functions. A connection
to the access control software "IQ MultiAccess" can be established in conjunction with the WINMAG plus
option "Access Control".
3.3 Multi-station version
The multi-station version permits the distribution of alarms/messages/signals through a computer network.
One or more computers can be assigned as a distributor (server) and other computers (clients) can request
data.
Prerequisite: Set-up of a TCP/IP service.
The number of connections is not logically limited. Practical limits are set by computer and network
performance.
Multi-station
One or several computers act as server that supply alarm/message data to other computers (also interactive).
Multi-station includes network distribution of messages through the WCF. Data synchronization between
multiple stations happens through WCF.
The stations are configured with other station details to establish communication. All the files/directories
present under the WINMAG+ > Sync folder are synchronized.
Changing of the I/O device list and to the network structure cannot be executed by the client.
After installation, WINMAG plus is divided into four applications:
8 Installation Instructions WINMAG plus
• WINMAGCore
• WINMAG
• WINMAGCONFIG
• WINMAGReporter
The WINMAGCore runs as a service in the background.
3.3.1.1 Prerequisites
♦ The client computer must be defined as multi-station client at the data master.
♦ A TCP/IP connection must exist between data master and client.
♦ The host name of the client must be defined at the data master.
♦ A dongle with Multi-station option is necessary at the network master.
♦ The same WINMAG plus version must be installed on all computers.
3.4 Gateway including OPC server
With this option, WINMAG plus can be used as an OPC server. An OPC data access server is a software
package that provides other programs (OPC clients) with process data in compliance with precisely defined
rules (OPC specification). Primarily, OPC data access servers are used as a substitute for device drivers that
would otherwise have manufacturer-specific interfaces. With random OPC clients it is then possible to
exchange the process data provided by the OPC server.
Installation Instructions WINMAG plus 9
4. Install WINMAG plus
The WINMAG plus DVD includes:
1. The WINMAG plus installation in DVD main directory with optional German/English version.
2. WINMAG plus manuals such as .pdf -files in the “DOC“ DVD subdirectory.
4.1 General remarks on the WINMAG plus installation
Described below is the installation of WINMAG plus under the operating system Windows 10. The installation
under other operating systems takes place analogue to this. Pay attention to the specific features of the
operating system.
If you would like to install a network version or a connection to MultiAccess on another computer, before
installing WINMAG plus, setup the TCP/IP services in your network. If the network is not setup accordingly,
the Novar network drivers cannot be registered.
4.2 Backup of the WINMAG plus data prior to upgrading/updating
When installing an update, the existing database is filled with the latest system data. The user- defined data
from the database will not be overwritten. If the data in the computer is dated older than the data on the
DVD, the data can be overwritten.
If you overwrite the data, then the following elements are effected.
• Layer pictures in the directory Common > Layer
• Drawings/graphics in the directory Sync > Graphic
• WINMAG system database in the directory Database > *.FDB
The WINMAG plus V06 may not be installed into the folder where the older version of WINMAG
plus is already installed. You must install WINMAG V06 in a new folder.
After the installation is successful, the installation will start the conversion tool automatically to
migrate the existing data from the older version of WINMAG plus.
For more information on Conversion Tool, see chapter Conversion Tool later in this
documentation.
4.3 WINMAG plus and additional software
WINMAG plus is a modular security management system with high requirements to the computer
performance. By means of the connection of subsections various system configurations are possible.
Therefore the WINMAG plus PC should not be burdened with additional software. We cannot guarantee
faultless functioning of WINMAG plus in connection with software of other manufacturers.
For WINMAG plus computers, Honeywell recommends to operate no additional software or only
imperative programs together with WINMAG plus.
10 Installation Instructions WINMAG plus
4.4 Installation of WINMAG plus
Before installing WINMAG plus in the Windows control panel, you must check for at least two users
in the user accounts. One of the users must have administrator rights, as (depending on computer
set-up) system data may have to be installed and registration data adapted.
If only one user is existing, you must create a new account. Note the passwords of the users as you
will need them for restarting the computer after installing WINMAG plus.

If the installation screen does not appear automatically, then, locate the WINMAG plus folder on the
DVD and double-click the Setup.exe file to begin the installation.
2. The setup program requests the required language. Mark the desired language and confirm your
selection with "Next".
Only the installation language is selected here. During the installation of WINMAG plus
all existing language resources are completely installed. After successful installation,
the WinmagCore service will always use the default Windows language and generate a
database in this language selection.
This means that an English database is always generated on an English operating
system and a German database on a German operating system, or a Russian database
on a Russian operating system ...
If a customer wishes to have his default database permanently in a different language
(compared to the default Windows language settings), he must change the default
Windows language before installing WINMAG plus.
It is also possible to start WINMAG.exe and WINMAGConfig.exe on a WINMAG station
later in a different language. To do this, a link to the corresponding "exe" file must be
created and started with the start parameter "-cn = ??".
For example, if Winmag.exe is to be started in Italian, the following start parameter must
be used: Winmag.exe -cn = it

Installation Instructions WINMAG plus 15
4.6 Update of installation
For updating, please start the installation program from the DVD. The “Modify” dialogue also appears. The
default setting is “Repair”
For the update select the option “Modify”.
For safety reasons, please protect your user-specific data as WINMAG plus overwrites old files (for
example, databases and SIAS programs) during standard installation.
We recommend the copying of the entire WINMAG plus directory into another directory prior to updating.
Possibilities for protecting data:
• Update date of your own files prior to updating WINMAG plus.
• Save data in other directories and “manually” copy to new version.
Files with individual data:
• Backup and Configuration files (*.xml) under Sync > Prot-“User’s GUID” directory
• Edited SIAS programs in the directory Sync > WINMAGEX
• WINMAG plus Database (*.FDB) in the Database folder
• Edited drawings in the directory Sync > Graphic
• Edited layers in the directory Common > Layer
During program start, WINMAG plus updates the database to the current version. Resetting to old format is
not possible! Thus, we recommend you to create a backup copy of the database prior to installing the
update.
Usually, you need an adapted license for a new version of WINMAG plus. The options of the dongle/license
can be updated with the file "LIZ_XXXXXXXXXX.txt". This update can only be used for a dongle with
identical update number. Hereto, copy the update file into the WINMAG directory Common > Update.
After WINMAG has restarted, the new options are adopted by WINMAG plus.
Driver Developer Kit
Programmers who use the following WINMAG-SDKs need to update to current versions of the respective
driver. The drivers are located in the following directory:
C:\Honeywell\WINMAG+\Common\Drivers\common
• WinmagDriverHost.exe
• WinmagDriverHost2.exe (version V02.00)
• WinmagMultiDeviceDriverHost.exe
• .Net Framework version 4.72
For more information, refer to SDK-documentation.
4.7 Reboot after installation
In some circumstances, you may be prompted to reboot your computer when you install, reinstall, or modify
WINMAG plus. Please perform this reboot, as it may be necessary to update individual parts of the program.
5. File management
5.1 Directories and files
The following tips and information are provided for experienced PC users and offer you the possibility for
trouble shooting during installation.

5.2 Data safeguarding
In order to restore WINMAG plus files in the case of computer problems or editing failures, additional back-
ups should be made of customer-specific data and configuration files.
As the number of files is relatively large, we recommend storing the entire WINMAG plus-directory on an
external data carrier or network drive.
We also recommend safeguarding data before performing extensive editing work.
The files containing user-specific data are:
• In the WINMAG plus main directory
- system database WINMAG.FDB
• Program files in the WINMAGEX directory
• Drawings in the GRAPHIC and other directories
• Driver configuration files in the DRIVERS directory
6. Austrian standard F3003

Operating rights must be restricted
The standard defines 3 operating rights:
- No customer should receive operating stage 3 (configuration rights)
- Equip users with the operating stages 1, 2 and 2a (2a = 2 is extended to authorize editing
of user data)
The I/O point texts must be imported from the central control unit data, as the texts at the
management system must correspond with those of the central control units.
The additional text for the detector should contain the detector group number and detector
number.
The tool bar must provide the authorized users with a tool icon with control functions for
simultaneously switching off the acoustic of the fire detection control unit and the management
system. The example (toolhandler2.efm) must be adapted to the specific conditions.
7. Important updates made in former program versions
See the file WINMAG – version-overview.pdf on the WINMAG plus DVD in the directory DOC/English.
8. Licensing/Dongle
8.1 General
To use WINMAG plus permanently, the program must be licensed. Licensing enables program options and
authorizes you to use the program.
Upon licensing WINMAG plus you receive a dongle that is to be connected to a USB port of the WINMAG
plus computer. For multi-station systems, every computer that includes connections needs a dongle.
Workstations without own connection do not need a dongle.
With an update from an older WINMAG plus version (before V6.0) to WINMAG plus a dongle will be
automatically included in the delivery.
If the dongle is removed when the program is in operation, WINMAG plus runs for max. 72 hours in online
operation without the dongle.
The demo version of WINMAG plus is an executable editing environment. All components (except the
adoption of alarms/messages) function. Thus, any event can be simulated using the demo version. All edit
functions can be used.
8.2 How to license WINMAG plus?
Licensing is awarded with a dongle and a license file. The license file contains individual details and the
activated options.
The following specifications must be known for licensing:
• Name of customer
• New license, update, upgrade
• Type of dongle (USB port)
• Connection structure (=> number of dongles, options)
• Update number
Please find the USB dongle in the attached package. It is not only a simple USB pen drive, but a
software protection dongle which enables the operator to use the software. The dongle contains all
the WINMAG licences and is the property of the operator after purchase. The operator must secure
the USB dongle against removal, theft, unauthorised use, loss or damage.
The USB dongle should be inserted into an INTERNAL USB interface (e.g. inside the PC), or be routed via a
USB extension to the PC case. If this is not possible, and if it is used in an external USB port (PC case), the
USB dongle should be protected against theft by a cable lock (e.g. ABUS), e.g. in combination with a
Kensington Lock (anti-theft protection for portable computers, projectors, etc.).
Installation Instructions WINMAG plus 19
9. Licensing information
License parameters are displayed in WINMAG in the info dialog
using the Help / Info about WINMAG menu.
The executable full version and the demo version are identical.
You do not have to replace programs to turn a demo version into
a full version. The difference is the dongle.
The license parameters can also be shown through the License
file Liz_XXXXXXXX.txt. The License file contains the dongle no.,
the object name, the customer name as well as the
corresponding product Licenses.
10. Ordering WINMAG
WINMAG is a modular program, thus the WINMAG software comprises several part numbers.
To help you configure your WINMAG software components, please use our WINMAG Order Form which
you can request from our Sales Department.
For creating a new system you need the WINMAG pus basic version (item no. WM2010).
Depending upon the peripheral devices connected, you will also require one or more program options and so
on:
WM3020 Option Intrusion Galaxy
WM3110 Option Fire system Esser
WM3120 Option Fire system Gent
WM3130 Option Fire system Notifier 013626
WM3200 Option Access Control IQMA Integration
WM3201 Option for ProWatch Integration
WM3203 Option for WinPAK Integration
Every WINMAG station connected with System/HE requires a dongle with the base license and appropriate
option set.
You need a client License for every computer to which data is routed (for example, routing to 3 computers =
3 client Licenses):
WM2200 WINMAG Client - single license
WM2210 WINMAG Client – licenses, 5 pcs
WM2220 WINMAG Client - licenses, 10 pcs
WM2230 WINMAG Client - licenses, 25 pcs
You can order program options separately to upgrade your basic program. For every change of option you
will receive a License update file "Liz_XXXXXXXXXX.txt”. This update/upgrade file must be loaded into the
WINMAG Common > Update directory.
An old version of WINMAG can be updated to the current program version. Please note that the License
applies to a specific version.
As a rule, a revised License is required when changing the version (update is made with the files
"Liz_XXXXXXXX.txt" and "W_Update.liz"). If you wish to change from a WINMAG version up to 5.0 to the
current WINMAG version, you require a dongle for every computer that is connected to WINMAG
components.
