The Need for Sustainable Development and Its Effects on the Ecosystem

Sustainable development is an approach devoted to protecting,

restoring and promoting sustainable use of our environment which can be
sustaining forests, combating desertification, preventing and lessening the
effects of pollution and contamination, and preventing biodiversity loss. It is
a practice we maintain up today to avoid destroying our environment and
ecosystem, SDG goal 6,7,12,13,14,15 are goals that focus on maintaining
and sustaining our environment and ecosystem.

SDG 6 Clean water and Sanitation

SDG 6 aims to improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating

dumping, and minimizing the release of hazardous chemicals and materials,
in order to protect and restore underwater ecosystems like rivers, lakes,
oceans, and etc.

SDG 7 Affordable and clean energy

SDG 7 focuses on using renewable and sustainable energy sources like

solar, wind, and hydro. This aims to lessen the production of greenhouse gas
emission and to combat global warming.

SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production

SDG 12 aims to achieve sustainable management and efficient use of

natural resources, reduce waste generation, produce environment friendly
products. This SDG implements the 3R which are reduction, recycling, and
reuse to lessen waste generation. This SDG also emphasizes the importance
of waste disposal and management to avoid contaminating the ecosystem.

SDG 13 Climate Action

SDG 13 focuses on combating climate change and its constant effects

on our ecosystems and economies, which affect not only our environment
but also out communities. The aim of this goal is to lessen our greenhouse
effects with the implementation of SDG 7 which is renewable energy sources
like solar, wind, and hydro. Additionally, it aims to promote reforestation to
lessen carbon emission and protect and restore ecosystems.

SDG 14 Life Below Water

SDG 14 aims to reduce ocean acidification, ocean warming, plastic
pollution, and over-fishing. This goal implements us to avoid throwing
chemical waste in water sources and regulate and avoid overfishing to
conserve and sustain and restore underwater ecosystems, Lessening our
waste especially plastic waste that are thrown in underwater ecosystems.

SDG 15 Life On Land

SDG 15 focuses on protecting, restoring, promoting the sustainable use

of terrestrial ecosystems, preventing deforestation, combating
desertification, and conserving biodiversity. This SDG not only conserves and
protects terrestrial environment but it also aims to conserve and protect
terrestrial ecosystems and their habitats. Taking actions on illegal hunting
and trafficking of wildlife, this goal also controls and addresses invasive
species to protect local indigenous species and their habitat.
