EGGSHELL AND CUBS MANURE

AS AN ALTERNATIVE
FERTILIZER TO THE GROWTH
OF MUSTARD( BRASSICA
JUNCEA)
GRADE-12 GRYFFINDOR BOYS
INTRODUCTION
Eggshell powder is recognized as a beneficial soil amendment
that enhances the morphological response of mustard plants. It
provides essential macro and micronutrients crucial for plant
growth, particularly effective at a dosage of 5g per stem. The
incorporation of eggshells can increase plant height, fresh
weight, and dry weight significantly, positively affecting overall
crop yields.
Cubs manure, rich in organic matter and nutrients, serves as an
effective substitute for inorganic fertilizers in mustard cultivation.
Its application can enhance soil fertility, providing necessary
nutrients that support the growth and development of mustard
plants. The organic nature of cubs manure also contributes to
improving soil structure and promoting beneficial microbial
activity, which further aids in nutrient availability to plants.
The synergistic effects of combining eggshells and
cubs manure on mustard growth and soil health
have not been extensively studied. Existing
research often examines these fertilizers
individually rather than in combination, particularly
focusing on their interactions with each other and
their collective impact on mustard growth, soil
nutrient profiles, and overall soil health."

Exploring how these two types of organic

fertilizers work together could provide insights into
their combined effectiveness and potential benefits
over using each one separately.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This is study, intends to determine the effect of eggshell
powder and cubs manure as an alternative fertilizer to
the growth of mustard (Brassica Juncea)
What are the possible insect attempt into the mustard?
What is the most effective treatment among four
treatments?
Is there a significant difference among mustard growth
height and yields?
Is there a significant difference on the different
treatments?
RESEARCH DESIGN
This study utilizes a true experimental design with a
randomized complete block design (RCBD) to
evaluate the effects of eggshells and cubs manure as
alternative fertilizers on the growth and yield of
mustard (Brassica juncea). Four treatments will be
tested: (1) eggshells, (2) cubs manure, (3) a
combination of eggshells and cubs manure, and (4) a
control group with no fertilizer or standard chemical
fertilizer. Each treatment will be replicated at least
three times, with random assignment to treatment
groups to ensure unbiased results.
DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENT
The following instruments will be utilized for data
collection in this study on the effects of eggshells and
cubs manure as alternative fertilizer on mustard
(Brassica juncea), These instruments are designed to
gather accurate and reliable data regarding the
growth, yield, and soil health in response to the
various fertilizer treatments.
1. Measuring Tape or Ruler: Used to measure the
height of the mustard plants (in centimeters) weekly
to track growth over time.
RESPONDENTS

The study involved the participation of 5 Grade

12 students from the Gryffindor section of Ueg
National High School. These participants were
selected through convenience sampling, a non-
probability sampling technique that relies on the
availability and accessibility of participants.
DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of eggshells

and cubs manure as alternative fertilizers in enhancing the
growth, yield, and soil health of mustard plants.
1. Preparation of Soil and Fertilizer Treatments: The
experimental pots will be prepared with uniform soil. Fertilizer
treatments, including eggshells, cubs manure, a combination
of both, and a control group will be applied to the designated
plots.
2. Planting Mustard Seeds: Mustard seeds will be sown in
each pot, ensuring an equal number of seeds per treatment to
maintain consistency. The seeds will be watered regularly, and
environmental conditions such as sunlight and temperature will
STATISTICAL TOOL
To analyze the collected data and to determine
if there are statistically significant differences
in plant growth, yield, and soil properties
among the different treatment groups
(eggshells, cubs manure, combination of both,
and control). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is
appropriate for comparing means across
multiple groups and is commonly used in
agricultural experiments to analyze the effect
of different treatments.
1. Possible insects/pests of mustard

None of the possible insects/pests harmed or affected the mustard.

2. Mustard's growth for 6 weeks in centimeter

Treatment 3 (eggshells and cubs manure) is most effective treatment for

the growth of mustard.

3.Students observations on the effect of eggshell and cubs

manure as fertilizer to mustard ( brassica juncea )

4.Majority of the checklist are present evident as it is agreed by

the respondents

There is significant difference of heights among the mustard.

CONCLUSION

Based on the findings of the study, it was

conducted that using eggshell and cubs manure
as an alternative fertilizer to the growth of
mustard (brasica Juncea) is effective and
efficient and have the potential to boost crop
productivity and yields when used as soil
amendments.
1. Crashed eggshell and cubs manure should be used by
the farmers as an alternative fertilizer for mustard.
2. Farmers should plant a mustard in the month of
September to February.
3. Farmers should monitor mustard interms of amount of
water and place where mustard should be planted.
4. Farmers should test the nutrience of the soil where
planted the mustard.
5. Farmer should measure the distance of the mustard for
the actual farm.
6. Farmers should check the quality of seed to fix the
nutrience of the soil.
7. Future researchers may conduct a Study with the same
variables but strictly monitor and check the amount of soil
per plot for more reliable and valid results.
8.Research with larger sample size or different crop types it
recommended to validate this findings and gain more
comprehensive understanding of their effectiveness.
