MALIN KUNDANG

n the old days, there lived a single mother with her puppet son named Malin,
they only lived alone in a village located on the coast because Malin's father had
died while sailing. Malin is a diligent child and always helps his mother moor the
boat on the Beach and catch fish. Although Malin lived in poverty, he had a very
big dream, namely to achieve success and wealth.

A few years later, when Malin was growing up, he saw a large merchant ship
docked in their village. Malin also thought that maybe this was an opportunity
for him to leave the village and seek luck in the country of Seberang to be free
from poverty. Then Malin went to see his mother to ask for permission to go to
the Opposite country, "Mom, Malin has decided to go sailing to the Opposite
country to find work and luck so that he can be free from poverty" Said Malin
"But Malin, if you go then who will accompany you here, I only have you my
only son" Said Mrs. Malin "but Malin doesn't want to live like this continuously,
ma'am, Malin wants to find luck out there, come on, Mom, let Malin go" said
Malin, after thinking for a long time, Malin's mother also said "Okay Son, Mom,
let you go, but remember to take care of yourself and go home immediately"
said Mom. Then the next day Malin also left for the country of Seberang and left
his own mother.

A few years passed, since living in the country of Seberang Malin had become a
captain who commanded many merchant ships, he was also married to a
beautiful princess of the king, while his mother was still waiting for him to
return. Once, their boat arrived at the village where Malin was raised, when his
mother was around the coast he saw a man who looked like his son "MALIN!!"
The mother shouted, then hugged her son "finally you came home, son, why
didn't you give me news for a long time" The mother cried emotionally hugging
her son, but Malin actually pushed her mother to fall "Who are you Women
don't know themselves, to the point of claiming to be my mother" said Malin
who pretended not to know his mother "Is that your mother Malin?" Asked
Malin's wife "No, she is not my mother, how can this beggar woman be my
mother, let's just go back, I feel uncomfortable here" Malin said, then pulled his
wife and left his mother who was still surprised by what her son said. Then he
saw his son's ship departing from the beach, because of the heartache of the
mother prayed and shouted "I SWEAR MALIN, WILL CURSE YOU TO STONE!!"
The mother screamed, suddenly there was a big storm that hit Malin and his
wife's ship, causing the ship to be destroyed, and Malin turned into a rock.
