STANDARDS MATTERS

In terms of the Standards Act, 2008 (Act No. 8 of 2008), the Board of the South African Bureau of Standards has acted in
regard to standards in the manner set out in the Schedules to this notice.

SECTION A: DRAFTS FOR COMMENTS

The following draft standards are hereby issued for public comments in compliance with the norm for the development of
the South Africa National standards in terms of section 23(2)(a) (ii) of the Standards Act.

overhead, pad-mounted, dry vault and submersible single or multi-pole attenuating
current automatic circuit reclosers for rated maximum voltages above 1 000 V and
up to and including 38 kV.
SANS 22301 Societal security - Business continuity management systems – Requirements. 2020-04-15
Ed 2 Specifies requirements to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review,
maintain and continually improve a documented management system to protect
against, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare for, respond to, and recover
from disruptive incidents when they arise
SANS 22316 Security and Resilience - Organizational resilience - principles and attributes. 2020-04-15
Ed 1 Provides guidance to enhance organizational resilience for any size or type of
organization.
SANS 8892 Standard for Performance-Rated Cross-Laminated Timber. This standard provides 2020-04-14
Ed 1 dimensions and tolerances, performance requirements, test methods, quality
assurance, and trademarking for CLT panels.
SANS 17088 Specifications for compostable plastics. Specifies procedures and requirements for 2020-04-14
Ed 1 the identification and labelling of plastics and products made from plastics that are
suitable for recovery through aerobic composting.
SANS 90003 Software engineering - Guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2015 to 2020-04-17
Ed 1 computer software. Provides guidance for organizations in the application of ISO
9001:2015 to the acquisition,supply, development,operation and maintenance of
computer software and related support services
SANS 61010-2-033 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and 2020-04-17
Ed 1 laboratory use - Part 2-033: Particular requirements for hand-held multimeters for
domestic and professional use, capable of measuring MAINS voltage. Specifies
safety requirements for hand-held multimeters for domestic and professional use,
capable of measuring mains.
SANS 60335-2-89 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety Part 2-89: Particular 2020-04-17
Ed 3 requirements for commercial refrigerating appliances with an incorporated or
remote refrigerant unit or compressor. This part of IEC 60335 specifies safety
requirements for electrically operated commercial refrigerating appliances and ice-

makers that have an incorporated motor-compressor or that are supplied in two

units for assembly as a single appliance in accordance with the instructions (split

SANS 60335-2-51 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety Part 2-51: Particular 2020-04-17
Ed 3 requirements for stationary circulation pumps for heating and service water
installations. This international standard deals with the safety of electric stationary
circulation pumps for household and similar purposes intended for use in heating
systems or in service water systems, their rated voltage being no more than 250 V
for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.
SANS 60335-2-114 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety -Part 2-114: Particular 2020-04-17
Ed 1 requirements for self-balancing personal transport devices for use with batteries
containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes. . Deals with the electrical safety
of self-balancing personal transport devices for use with batteries containing
alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes.
SANS 60335-2-86 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety Part 2-86: Particular 2020-04-17
Ed 3 requirements for electric fishing machines. This part of IEC 60335 deals with the
safety of electric fishing machines by means of which water may be electrified for
the purpose of catching fish or for providing barriers to all animals living in the
water.

Ed 2 requirements for robotic battery powered electrical lawnmowers. This document
specifies safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction
of robotic battery powered electrical rotary lawnmowers and their peripherals with
the rated voltage of the battery being more than 75 V d.c.
SANS 61010-2-081 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and 2020-04-17
Ed 2 laboratory use - Part 2-081: Particular requirements for automatic and semi-
automatic laboratory equipment for analysis and other purposes. This part of IEC
61010 applies to automatic and semi-automatic laboratory equipment for analysis
and other purposes.
SANS 60794-1-21 Optical fibres Cables - Part 1-21: General specification - Basic optical cable test 2020-04-17
ED 1 procedures - Mechanical test methods. Applies to optical fibre cables for use with
telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, and to
cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors.
SANS 60335-2-9 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety Part 2-9: Particular 2020-04-17
Ed 5 requirements for grills, toasters and similar portable cooking appliances. This
international standard deals with the safety of electric portable appliances for
household and similar purposes that have a cooking function such as baking ,
roasting and grilling, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V.
SANS 62275 Cable management systems - Cable ties for electrical installations. Specifies 2020-04-17
Ed 2 requirements for metallic, non-metallic and composite cable ties and their
associated fixing devices used for the management and support of wiring systems
in electrical installations.
SANS 61010-2-012 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and 2020-04-07
Ed 1 laboratory use -Part 2-012: Particular requirements for climatic and
environmental testing and other temperature conditioning equipment. Specifies
safety requirements for electrical equipment and its accessories within the
categories a) through c).
SANS 60947-7-4 Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear Part 7-4: Ancillary equipment - PCB 2020-04-17
Ed 2 terminal blocks for copper conductors. Specifies requirements for PCB terminal
blocks primarily intended for industrial or similar use.
SANS 60076-22-4 Power transformers -Part 22-4: Power transformer and reactor fittings - Insulating 2020-04-17
Ed 1 liquid to water heat exchangers. Applies to liquid to water heat exchangers, using
forced water and forced liquid circuits, used on liquid immersed power
transformers according to SANS 60076-1 and reactors according to SANS 60076-6
with and without conservator for indoor or outdoor installation.
SANS 14067 Greenhouse gases - Carbon footprint of products - Requirements and guidelines for 2020-04-17
Ed 1 quantification. This document specifies principles, requirements and guidelines for
the quantification and reporting of the carbon footprint of a product (CFP), in a
manner consistent with international standards on life cycle assessment (LCA) (ISO
14040 and ISO 14044).

Ed 1 health care. Specifies the discipline and professionalism required by an individual
who has acquired skills of being a THP as well as adherence to ethical conduct in
diagnosing, prescibing, dispensing, initiating and healing using ATM
SATS 19157-1 Geographic information - Data quality - Part 2: XML schema implementation.. 2020-04-20
Ed 1 This document defines data quality encoding in XML. It is an XML schema
implementation and data quality of related concepts from ISO 19112-2
SANS 17088 Specifications for compostable plastics. Specifies procedures and requirements for 2020-04-14
Ed 1 the identification and labelling of plastics and products made from plastics that are

SANS 10330:2020 Requirements for a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system.

electric tools and similar apparatus as defined below, whether powered by AC or DC
(including a battery).
SANS 27003:2020 Information technology - Security techniques - Information security management systems –
Ed 2 Guidance. Provides explanation and guidance on ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (published in South
Africa as an identical adoption under the designation SANS 27001:2015).

Ed 4 the requirements for the design, construction, testing and marking of Ex Equipment and Ex
Components with type of protection liquid immersion "o" intended for use in explosive gas
atmospheres.
SANS 10400-T:2020 The application of the National Building Regulations Part T: Fire protection. Provides
Ed 4 deemed-to-satisfy requirements for compliance with part T (Fire Protection) of the
National Building Regulations.
SANS 11138-2:2020 Sterilization of health care products - Biological indicators Part 2: Biological indicators
Ed 3 for ethylene oxide sterilization processes. Specifies requirements for test organisms,
suspensions, inoculated carriers, biological indicators and test methods intended for use in
assessing the performance of sterilizers and sterilization processes employing ethylene
oxide gas as the sterilizing agent, either as pure ethylene oxide gas or mixtures of this gas

SANS 15883-4:2020 Washer-disinfectors Part 4: Requirements and tests for washer-disinfectors employing
Ed 2 chemical disinfection for thermolabile endoscopes. Specifies the particular requirements,
including performance criteria for washerdisinfectors (WD) that are intended to be used for
cleaning and chemical disinfection of thermolabile endoscopes.
