By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to listen to the text and note down at least seven
M places that are mentioned.
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to match correctly at least ten words in the box with
C the places on the map of London.
1. Write on board: ‘Town’, ‘City’.
2. Elicit which is bigger and names of towns and cities in Malaysia.
Pre-lesson
3. Ask: Do you live in a town or a city? If neither, ask where e.g. a village, the countryside.
4. Pupils say if there is something famous in the place where they live.
5. Activity 1:
a. Pupils look at photos and drawings of famous places in London Guide p.12–13 of
the Student’s Book.
b. Find out if pupils have been to London and if they went to any places in the Guide.
c. Read the 14 sentences aloud and say ‘mmm’ for gap in each sentence.
d. Read aloud the vocabulary in the box on Activity 1. Pupils repeat each word.
e. Check meaning of vocabulary pupils don’t know.
f. Distribute worksheet. Pupils match fourteen of the words in the box with the places
on the map.
a. Play the audio CD-1.13 for pupils to check their answers.
b. Check answers with the class and that pupils understand all the country names.

6. Activity 2:

a. Pupils watch the video or listen to CD-1.14 and note down the places that are

b. Ask: How many places do the people say? (10)
7. Activity 3:
a. Pupils read sentence starters in Activity 3.
b. Give pupils clues to help them listen for answers.
e.g. In sentence 2, does the person live in a town or a city? What’s the adjective in
sentence 3?
c. Pupils listen to CD-1.14 again and complete the sentences. (Assessment)
8. Activity 4:
d. Pupils look at the underlined words in activity 3.
e. Elicit which nouns are singular and plural.
9. Post lesson 6: Play ‘Make The Word Ladder’ with the pupils to review and consolidate
