4.1- Observation of whole mount of permanent slide of Hydra.
Classification-
Phylum : Cnidaria
Class : Hydrozoa
Order : Hydroida
Family : Hydridae
Genus : Hydra
species : Hydra viridis

 Identification characters are-


1. Body long and tubular.
2. At the anterior end oral cone and hypostome present.
3. Tentacles are present around the oral cone.
4. At the posterior end basal disc present.
5. Lateral buds are present in the body.
 Identification-
The supplied specimen in the permanent slide of whole mount of
Hydra.
4.2- Observation of permanent slide of section of Liver.
 The supplied sample is sections of Liver.

 Identification characters are-


1. The liver is divided into small lobules.
2. Each lobule consists of numerous polygonal
hepatic cells.
3. Blood-filled spaces known as synusoids are
present, between the lobules.
4. Each lobule has central vein or portal vein and
bile duct.

 Identification-
The supplied specimen in the permanent slide of
sections of Liver.
4.3- Observation & identification of permanent slide of sections of stomach.

 The supplied sample is sections of stomach.

 Identification characters are-


1. There are five layers in tha wall of stomach- Serosa,
Muscularis, Sub-mucusa, Muscularis mucusa and Mucusa.
2. Muscularis layer is divided into longitudinal, circular and
oblique muscles.
3. Numerous micro folds, called rugae are present in the
mucosa.
4. Gastric glands are present in the sub-mucosa layer.
5. Areolar tissue is present in the sub-mucosa layer.

 Identification-
The supplied specimen in the permanent slide of sections of
stomach.
4.4- Observation & identification of permanent slide of sections of small intestine.

 The supplied sample is sections of small intestine.

 Identification characters are-


1. There are five layers in tha wall of intestine- Serosa,
Muscularis, Sub-mucusa, Muscularis mucusa and Mucusa.
2. Muscularis layer is divided into longitudinal and circular
muscles.
3. The inner layer produces finger like projections called
Villi.
4. Areolar connective tissue is present in the sub-mucosa
layer.

 Identification-
The supplied specimen in the permanent slide of sections of
small intestine.
4.5- Observation of permanent slide of Blood Corpuscles.
 The supplied sample is Blood corpuscles.

 Identification characters are-


1. Blood with plasma and three types of cells.
2. White blood cell (WBC) are much less
common than red blood cells (RBC).
3. RBCs are anucleated, biconcave and rounded.
4. WBCs are large, irregular shape and lobed
nucleated.
5. Platelets are small and anucleated.

 Identification-
The supplied specimen in the permanent slide of
Human blood corpuscles.

5.1- Observation of the human skull.


 Identification-
The given sample is a human skull.

 Identifying characters are-


1. The skull is made up of the bones of the skull,
bones of the face, the Cartilage and Highway bones.
2. The jaw and sensory organs (nose, ears, eyes)
exist.
3. The bones of the skull are-
A) Frontal b) Parietal
C) Occipital d) Temporal
E) Sphenoids f) Ethmoids.

5.2- Observation of Human bone of Humerous.


 Identification-
The given specimen is humerous.

 Identifying characters are-


1. It consists of long, tubular bones and two
edges.
2. At the top is a smooth, round, cartilaginous
head.
3. At the lower extremities convex capiculum and
crane-like trochalia exist.

5.3- Observation of Femur.

 Identification-
The given sample is Femur.

Identifying characters are-


1. Hard, tubular and the largest bone in the
body.
2. At the top are the head, neck, large and
small trochanter.
3. Between the two condyles is a hole
called inter-condyle notch.

5.4- Observation of Rib cage.

 Identification-
The given specimen is a human Rib cage.

Identifying characters are-


1. The ribs are attached to the thoracic on one side
and the sternum on the other, forming a cage-like
structure.
2. It has a sternum, 12 pairs of vertebrae and 12
thoracic vertebrae.
3. The sternum is divided into three parts-
Manubrium, Body, Giffoid Process.

5.5- Observation of Human bone of Pelvic girdle.

 Identification-
The given specimen is Pelvic girdle.

 Identifying characters are-


1. Consisting of two equal parts, a characteristic
shaped bone.
2. It consists of ileum, ischium, pubis.
3. There is a large perforated obturator foramen
surrounded by ileum and pubis.

2. The human skeletal system is divided into two main parts.
3. The axial skeletal system has a total of 80 bones.
4. The appendix skeletal system has a total of 126 bones.
5. The bone number of the skull is 8.
6. The number of facial bones is 14.
7. Ear bone number 3+3=6.
8. The number of bones in the thorax is 25.
9. The number of bones in the thoracic bone is 4.
10. The number of bones in the hand is 30+30=60.
11. Patellar number 1+1=2.
12. The number of bones in the leg is 30+30=60.
13. The largest bone in the skeleton is the femur.
14. The smallest bone is the inner bone called the steps.
