Chapter 1 Outline
1.1 Equipment Functions
This equipment (JLR-8600) is a GPS navigator with the JLR-4350GPS sensor connected to the
NWZ-1650 display and the NDC-4100 processor.

JLR-4350, which is a multi-GNSS receiver capable of receiving data from GPS as well as GLONASS or
BeiDou, operates around-the-clock to measure positions with high accuracy anywhere in the world and
in all weather conditions by using the GPS satellite and the GLONASS satellite, or the BeiDou satellite,
and produces highly reliable positioning results. In addition, the GPS navigator can increase the
accuracy of position fixing by receiving correction data from the DGPS beacon station or SBAS
satellites.

Chapter 2 Installing a Sensor
2.1 Selection the Position for Installation

Caution
When connecting the cable attached to the equipment, do not bend it acutely, twist it,
or impart excessive force. Doing so sometimes causes cracks or damage to the
coating, resulting in fire or electrocution.

Do not install the sensor where there is excessive vibration.

Vibration may cause sensor failure.

Do not paint the sensor.

Doing so may result in reception problems.

Do not install the sensor where temperature exceeds 55 degrees Celsius and there
is covered with exhaust gas from funnel. Doing so may result in equipment failure
or malfunction.

Use a fitted cable, when connected to junction box.

The junction box rubber gaskets (25 f Gland side) fit φ 10mm – 20mm cables.

Install the sensor where there are no obstacles, in order to ensure that GPS signals
can be directly received from satellites without interference or reflection of signals
from surrounding objects.
Whenever possible, select a place with the following characteristics.
1. An open space, which allows uniform reception of satellite signals.
2. Far away from any high power transmission antennas.
3. Outside radar beams.
4. Away from the INMARSAT antenna by at least 5 meters and outside the
INMARSAT beam.
5. Away from the antenna of a VHF transmitter and a direction finder
by at least 3 meters.
6. Away from a Magnetic Compass by at least 1 meters.
7. Away from amateur radio antennas by at least 3 meter.
Every time, Confirms the proper performance of equipment can be obtained, when changing the
equipment location.

If it is difficult to find an ideal site, select a place temporarily and install the equipment.
Conduct a test to make sure that the proper performance can be obtained and then fix the
equipment in position. If it is installed at an improper place, reception accuracy may be
impaired.

2.2 Installation procedure
2.2.1 Sensor Installation Procedure

The sensor base contains 1 inch 14UNS-2B screw holes. It can be attached to poles with cut male
screws, or off-the-shelf adapters.

(1) When performing attachment, always hold and turn the sensor base. Holding and turning the
radome may result in a large amount of force applied at the junction of the base and the
radome, resulting in damage to the sensor.
When performing attachment, do not use adhesive for screw or other adhesive for screw part.
Adhesive component may attack to the radome, resulting in cracks.

3.1 Selecting an Installation Location

WARNING
Install this unit at least 1 m away from any magnetic compasses. Installation near a
magnetic compass may result in interference with the magnetic compass, and may
result in an accident.

This equipment can be installed on a floor or a wall.

Install on a flat floor or wall.
When installing on a wall, make sure that the cable insertion slot is positioned at the bottom.

3.2 Installation Procedure

The inside of the processor is shown below.
The processor comprises two circuit boards, a control unit and a terminal unit.
Note the following at installation.
Before starting installation/wiring, make sure that the main switch of the processing is turned off.
A power protection cover is attached to prevent anyone from touching the power supply. Do not touch
the power supply unit.
Before starting operation of the power supply unit, disconnect the circuit breaker.

3.2.5 Connecting a LAN cable for a display

CAUTION
Since a voltage for display power supply is output from the LAN connector for the
display, do not connect the LAN cable to any device other than the display. A
connection error may damage the connected device.

When using a general purpose cable, use a straight cable.

Since the connector on the display side applies a water proof structure, use a LAN cable (CFQ-7540)

3.3 Dual Installation Procedure
The processor is equipped with a switch and an 8-channel buffer unit.
By installing two GPS navigators, system switching and buffer output become possible by connecting
two navigators, thereby reducing the optional units that are necessary in the conventional configuration.
When installing two GPS navigators and connecting each other, only one sensor can be connected to
one processor. It is not possible to connect two sensors to one processor.
The cable length connected between 2 processor is recommended 5m or less.

3.3.5 Connection for manual switching

A switch built into the processor can be switched manually. For manual switching, an optional manual
switch (NCZ-1663) is necessary.
Priority is given to a manual switch over the switching control in the control unit.
When using automatic switching control while connecting a manual switch, set the manual switch to
"CH3".
When using processor No.1, connect a manual switch to processor No.1
When using processor No.2, connect a manual switch to processor No.2.

See below for the application of each terminal.

3.3.6 Power supply backup inter-connection

The power supply unit of processor No.1 and the power supply unit of processor No.2 can be
inter-connected.
At a failure of one power supply unit, the operation can be continued by using the other power supply
unit.
When applying mutual backup power supply, do not share the power supply units with any other
optional equipment. Otherwise, the power capacity may become insufficient.

1.LAN cable
Since the connectors on the display apply a waterproof structure, use a LAN cable that is attached as
standard (CFQ-7540).
Although a general-purpose LAN cable can also be used, a waterproof material cannot be applied in
that case. When using a genera-purpose LAN cable, use a straight cable.

2.Serial cable
Use a serial cable for data reception and power supply on a remote display.
On the main display, a serial cable is not required.

downgrade.
b) When the display program saved in the processor is latest, display is updated
automatically.
As a result, display NWZ-1650 can also be used in various systems (for instance, GPS compass and
depth sounder) that are planned to be deployed in the future.

When a processor is not connected, load operation is not performed.

rate, interval, or sentence may not be set depending on the content of the setting. In this case,
set a minimum necessary sentence.
 The available settings for a LAN port include NMEA/IEC data transmission, remote
maintenance, data transmission to a network printer, route sharing, and mutual monitoring.
 A processor is equipped with 8 buffer channels. However, the output cannot be set
individually.
 A tidal current, a water temperature, and a depth can be input.
