Tanzania Women's Leadership Summit

Theme: Women-driven Economy to Power Nation Building

Women represent a significant untapped resource for Tanzania's economic development. While they
comprise over 50% of the population, their full potential remains largely unrealized due to various social
and economic barriers. Investing in women's empowerment is not just a moral imperative; it is a strategic
economic necessity.

 Economic contribution: Studies by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund estimate
that closing the gender gap in labor force participation could add $2.5 trillion to global GDP by
2025. In Tanzania, a 10% increase in female labor force participation could boost GDP by 3%.
 Untapped talent pool: Women represent a vast pool of talent and skills currently underutilized.
Tanzania faces a skills gap in various sectors, and women's participation could significantly
address this issue.
 Entrepreneurship: Women are increasingly driving entrepreneurial activity globally. In
Tanzania, 43% of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are owned by women,
contributing significantly to job creation and economic growth.
 Improved health and education: Investing in women's education and health leads to better
outcomes for their families and communities. Educated mothers are more likely to have
healthier children and invest in their education, creating a virtuous cycle of development.

Addressing the Gap

The Tanzania Women's Leadership Summit aims to bridge the gap between women's potential and their
actual contribution to the economy. By bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors, the
summit will foster collaboration and generate concrete strategies to:

 Identify and address barriers: The summit will identify key challenges faced by women in
different sectors, such as access to finance, education, and childcare.
 Develop actionable strategies: Through pre-summit focal group discussions led by sector
experts, the summit will develop national strategies and implementation frameworks for key
areas like healthcare, financial inclusion, and talent development.
 Mobilize resources: The summit will engage stakeholders in securing resources and partnerships
to implement these strategies effectively.
 Promote leadership and mentorship: The summit will provide a platform for women leaders to
share their experiences and inspire others, fostering a culture of mentorship and support.

These disparities not only limit individual opportunities but also hinder national economic growth and
development. Studies by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund estimate that closing the
gender gap in labor force participation could increase GDP by up to 25% in some countries.

Addressing the Challenge: The Tanzania Women's Leadership Summit

The Tanzania Women's Leadership Summit is a premium platform created to engage key stakeholders
from private sector, development partners and policy makers, aimed at finding pathways to accelerating
women inclusion in nation building. Relevant barriers leading to women low -productivity level will be
discussed, ranging from less access to quality education for the girlchild, healthcare system, cultural
norms, poor access to financial solutions tailored for women in the informal sector, and adaptive work
environment to enable women climb corporate leadership ladder. With these roadblocks fully addressed
sustainably will unlock the full potential of Tanzanian women as drivers of economic growth. This 2-day
event will bring together key stakeholders, including:

 Top government officials: The President, Ministers, policymakers, and decision-makers.
