CONDITIONALS  okresy warunkowe

If + warunek, + rezultat
lub
Rezultat + if + warunek

when – kiedy
unless (if.. not) - chyba że, jeśli nie
as soon as – jak tylko
after – po
before – przed
until – dopóki, aż do

 0 okres warunkowy (Zero Conditional)

Używamy tylko w przypadku mowy o sytuacjach prawdziwych, tzn. kiedy coś jest zawsze prawdą, a także
mówiąc o zwyczajach.
Budowa:
If + Present Simple, + Present Simple
lub:
Present Simple + if + Present Simple
Przykłady:
If you don't drink, you are thirsty.
If you sleep well at night you feel relaxed.

 I okres warunkowy (First Conditional)

Stosujemy w przypadkach, kiedy mówimy o sytuacjach / zdarzeniach przyszłych, możliwych i realnych, kiedy
istnieje duże prawdopodobieństwo, że warunek zostanie spełniony.
Budowa:
If + Present Simple, + Future Simple (will + podstawowa forma czasownika)
lub:
Future Simple + if + Present Simple
Przykłady:
If you are hungry, we will go to the restaurant.
I will help you provided you tidy your room.

 II okres warunkowy (Second Conditional)

Stosujemy, kiedy mówimy o sytuacjach prawie nierealnych, praktycznie niemożliwych do spełnienia.
Stosujemy te konstrukcję mówiąc o teraźniejszości bądź przyszłości, aczkolwiek dany warunek nie ma prawie
żadnej szansy na zaistnienie. Okres ten jest podobny do trybu przypuszczającego w języku polskim.
Budowa:
If + Past Simple, + would + podstawowa forma czasownika
lub:
would + podstawowa forma czasownika + if + Past Simple
Przykład:
If I were you, I wouldn't buy this terrible blouse.
My friend would go around the world if he won a lot of money in lottery.

Zamiast słówka "would", wystąpić mogą też słówka: "could", "might".

W części warunkowej zdania - po "if" - w miejsce "was" najczęściej używamy "were".
