PROCEDURE TO OBTAIN THE APPROVAL OF THE ETHICS COMMITTEE

TO DISPATCH A RESEARCH/SENIOR PROJECT WHEN THE WORK


INVOLVES HUMAN PARTICIPANTS
(Spring 2023)

(The procedure should be handled by the Student with the support and overviewing of the Project
Supervisor)

Many of the ASB Researches/Senior Projects resort to conducting surveys, and


carrying out meetings and other forms of contacting Human Beings for coming up
with data that serve their projects.
It is the University’s Policy not to carry these contacts before getting the formal
authorization of the Ethics Committee of the University for such contacts.

To get the authorization, follow please the below listed steps:

 Step 1: Students must fill in the e-form preliminary link

language of the research/work. This link is available on the website

 Step 2: Once the e-form is filled in, students will receive an email on their UA account that
redirects them to the ethics e-form, noting that the e-form is only accessed with the UA email.

 Step 3: Students must fill in the ethics e-form and attach all the requested documents, noting
that they have up to 30 days to edit the data before submitting it. It is advised for applicants to
consult their supervisor while filling in the e-form.

 Step 4: After submitting the e-form, both applicant and supervisor will receive the submitted
data via email.

 Step 5: The supervisor will also receive a “confirmation notification” (Power Automate) email
from the Ethics Committee (EC) to confirm the information submitted.

 Step 6: Once the supervisor confirms the submitted information, a member of the EC studies the
file and shares the report during the meeting of all the EC members.

 Step 7: Students and their supervisor will then receive the EC’s verdict. The request can either
be approved, partially approved (some information should be amended or clarified), or rejected.

Kindly note that the Ethics Committee will be meeting on dates that will
be announced on the WEB of the University.

Each meeting will be reviewing the forms received 7 days and earlier to its date.
The others will be automatically transferred to the meeting of the following month.
