CP Geometry Midterm
All of the information listed below is eligible content for the midterm. You will have 1 class period for each
section of this exam. The midterm is not eligible for retakes and will count toward your MP2 grade.
You will be given one 3x5 index card, to fill with whatever information you deem necessary. You will be required
to turn it in the day before the exam (Tuesday, 1/21/25), and it will be collected after each section.
Unit 1 Transformations
● Apply a transformation to an image including reflections, translations, rotations, and dilations.
● Determine whether a figure has line symmetry, rotational symmetry, and/or point symmetry.
Unit 2 Geometry Basics
● Identify and name segments, lines, rays, angles, and planes.
● Apply the distance formula to find the length of a line segment.
● Apply the midpoint formula to find the coordinates of the midpoint of a segment.
● Solve problems by using angle relationships (vertical, complementary, supplementary, linear pair).
Unit 3 Logic and Proof
● Use a counterexample to prove a false statement.
● Determine the truth value of a compound statement (both conjunctions and disjunctions).
● Given a conditional statement, identify the inverse, converse, and contrapositive.
● Determine the truth value of a bi-conditional statement.
● Recognize and use all symbols of formal logic (~, ∧, ∨, →, ↔, and ∴) and translate verbal arguments
into symbolic form.
● Use the Law of Detachment and the Law of Syllogism to give valid conclusions.
● Use Venn diagrams to represent relationships, such as the intersection and union.
● Interpret Venn diagrams.
Unit 4 Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
● Solve problems using the relationships between angles formed by the intersection of two parallel lines
and a transversal, including corresponding angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles,
and consecutive interior angles.
● Use algebraic and coordinate methods to prove whether two lines are parallel.
● Apply the slope formula to find the slope of a line.
● Write the equation of a line.
● Compare the slopes to determine whether two lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither.
