Mr. Brownlow offered the five-pound reward to anyone who can tell him where
Oliver is or tell him anything about his life.
2. “His parents were criminals; he was never happy with what he had.” Comment!
Mr. Bumble said these words to Mr. Brownlow when he went to Mr. Brownlow’s
house after he saw the notice Mr. Brownlow has written in the paper saying that
he’ll give five pounds to anyone who can tell him anything about Oliver’s life.
3. “Don’t try to escape, you can’t help yourself.” Comment!
Nancy said these words to Oliver when she was taking him to Bill Sikes’s place.
Because she thought that he might be thinking of escaping.

Because the board chose him to go to London to talk to a judge about two poor
people in the workhouse.

Because he was a good boy who didn’t like to get in trouble. He had a good
nature he always thought stealing was wrong.

Because he wanted Oliver to help him rob the house at Chertsey.

Her secret was that she once nursed Oliver’s mother when she was giving birth to
him. And that she stole the gold necklace that Oliver’s mother gave her to give to
Oliver in order to help him discover his mother’s name one day.
10. Why do you think Old Sally said her secret to Mrs. Corney?
