A communication model is the framework we use to share messages and

thoughts with others. They dictate how we interact with the people around
us and help to facilitate understanding and collaboration.

MODELS OF COMMUNICATION

LINEAR COMMUNIATION MODEL

- Communication is a one-way process

- Senders send message and receivers only receive
- Applied in mass communication like television, radio, etc.

There are different types of communication model based on linear

model
Such as Lasswell and Berlo’s model of communication but we will only
focus solely on Aristotle’s model of communication which will be
introduced and discussed later on the presentation.

EXAMPLES OF LINEAR MODEL: HOMILY OF A PRIEST, RADIO or

TELEVISION BROADCASTING
INTERACTIVEL MODEL OF COMMUNICATION

- Used of new communications like internet.

- has two sender-receivers
- Known as convergence model
- Communication becomes linear if receiver does not respond

EXAMPLES OF INTERACTIVE MODEL: A CONVERSATION OVER THE PHONE,

TEA FROM YOUR FRIENDS

TRANSACTIONAL MODEL OF COMMUNICATION

- Used for interpersonal communication

- Senders and receivers interchange roles
- Simultaneous feedback
- Feedback is taken as a new message.
- Two or more sender-receivers
Examples: a face-to-face meeting, a telephone conversation, a videocall etc.
QUESTION FOR EXERCISE

personal history.

Summary: The document discusses three models of communication: the

linear model, interactive model, and transactional model. The linear model
describes communication as a one-way process and was originally proposed
by Aristotle. It involves a sender, message, channel, and receiver. The
interactive model, proposed by Wilbur Schramm, adds feedback to the linear
model. It depicts communication as a two-way process between sender and
receiver. The transactional model, proposed by Dean Barnlund, views
communication as a continuous and simultaneous two-way process that
occurs within a shared experience between participants.
