I. Greetings

Hello, Good Morning Class!

Learners: Good Morning Maam!

How are you today?

Learners: We are doing great Maam.
Very good!

II. Prayer

Now let’s start the day with a prayer.

Let us all stand to prepare for the
prayer.
( All the learners will stand and bow their heads
for the prayer.)
Ana, kindly lead the prayer?
Ana: Yes Maam.
( The learner will lead the prayer)
Let us all remember that we are in the most holy
presence of God. Lord, we offer to you our class
today. We pray for your divine guidance may
all participate actively in discussion and
activities, may all of us learn more while having
fun may we apply what we will learn for your
greater glory all this we ask in your powerful
name. Amen.
III. Action Song

Before we start our lesson, we will start

first in our action song. The title of the song
is “ Ang mga Ibon na lumilipad” okay sing.

(All the students will start to sing)

Ang mga ibon na lumilipad ay mahal ng Diyos
di kumukupas, ang mga ibon na lumilipad ay
mahal ng Diyos di kumukupas wag ka ng
malungkot oh praise the Lord. Ang mga bata na
naglalaro ay mahal ng Diyos di kumukupas, ang
mga bata na naglalaro ay mahal ng Diyos di
kumukupas wag ka ng malungkot oh praise the
Thank you class, before you sit down, Lord.
please pick all the trash and throw it
into the trashcan and arrange your
chair properly.

(All the students will start to pick up the trash

IV. Checking of attendance and arrange the seats)
Class who is absent today?

V.Recall of the classroom rules Learners: Nobody is absent today Maam.

David, can you please recall and state

our classroom rules?

David: Yes Maam.

First, nobody is allowed to talk unless
being called.

Second, No eating in the classroom.

Third, avoid creating noise and respect

Good job David, Hope that are all one another.
clear to you.

B. Reviewing previous lesson

Now who remembers our previous

topic?

Okay Aira, what our topic last (Aira raising her hand)
meeting?

Aira: Maam, as I remember it is all about the

Thank you Aira, before we proceed to our cell theory.
next topic what are cells?

Okay Gia, what are cells? ( Gia raising her hand)

Gia: Maam, the cells are the smallest unit of

living things that can carry out basic processes
of life.it says that our body composed of more
cells. It is like a many small rooms inside of our
body. And most cells are microscopic or it can
be seen with microscope because it cannot be
seen by the naked eye. So with the help or using
of microscope
That’s correct! Gia, thank you for
sharing what you learned in our
previous topic.

I think everyone learned something

from the previous lesson so we will
go to the next topic.

C. Establishing A Purpose for

the Lesson
I. Motivational

Now class, today we will have game and it is

called message relay. I will divide you into
five groups and you will choose who will be
in front to give the message. When the
message finally arrives, he will get the photo
from the box mentioned in the message and
paste it on the board. And tell what is that
objects and functions.

( Students paste the photos mentioned in the

message)

Group 1:
Door
the function is to allow entry and exit to home.
.

Group 2

Wall
the function of that is to support the
roof and the floor

Group 3
Refrigerator
And the function of that is for storing food.
Group 4
Chef
His function is for cooking food.

In all the pictures you pasted on the board

where can they be found?

Very good class. all the pictures posted on Group 5

the board can be compared later to our topic The table and the chairs
today. the function is to provide support for the seated
person's body.

II. Objectives
In the restaurant Ma’am.
Before we proceed let us read first our
objectives for today.

At the end of the discussion, you should be

able to do the following; Anyone who can
read the first objectives?

( Students will read the objectives)

Student 1
a.) Describe the basic components of a cell
and their functions

Student 2
b.) Construct a Venn Diagram to show parts
that are common to both and

animal cells
D. Presenting Examples Student 3
c.) Give the importance of understanding of

study about?

That’s right!
Yes Ma’am.
A cell just like a restaurant has many
components or parts in order for the cell to
work efficiently. You have a chef, tables,
chairs, refrigerator and so many more that
the restaurant can function just like a cells.
Cells have other body parts or other It’s all about Cells Ma’am!
components that help to function or help the
cell to work efficiently. So that this is our
main topic for today we will be discussing
the basic parts of a cell. All organism are
made up of cells and your own body has
more than 200 different kinds of cells within
your body. Plants and Animal cells have
several basic structures called organelles,
that help them to perform life processes. So
question what is inside a cell or organelles?
Very good class,

E. Practicing Skills

1. Objective # 1

Today we will have a group presentation

activity. Group yourselves into three ( Expected answer of the students)
.
When you have finished forming a group, 1. Cytoplasm
draw an animal cell and plant cell and
describe each structure and function. using 2. Nucleus
manila paper, markers and crayons. And how
do you compare all the previous picture of 3. Cell Membrane
the restaurant to the organelles. The group 1
will do and report the 4. Cellulose cell wall
Cytoplasm and Nucleus, to the group 2 will
do and report cell membrane and cell wall 5. Mitochondrion
And group 3 will do and report the 3
organelles Mitochondrion, Vacuole and 6. Permanent vacuole

member in your group. I will give you 10 7. Chloroplast.
minutes to finish it.

Our criteria is:

Accuracy of drawing- 30%

Content- 50%
Delivery- 20%
100%

Are you done class?

The group 1 will report the
Cytoplasm and Nucleus, to the group 2 will
report cell membrane and cell wall
And group 3 will report the Mitochondrion,
Vacuole and chloroplast.
It also support all cell’s structures and it
constantly moves through the cell.

Group 1

1.Cytoplasm - the cytoplasm is the region of

a cell within the plasma membrane, it is made
up of organelles suspended in the gel-like
cytosol. It is composed of 70-80% water and
other organic substances such as proteins, sugar,
and fatty and amino acids making semi-solid in
consistency.

It is also called “The brain of the cell.”

same as table and chair in our previous picture
at restaurant Ma’am.
3. Nucleus
typically, the nucleus is
the most prominent organelle in a
cell. It houses the cell’s DNA and
directs the synthesis of ribosome
subunits and proteins. It has
nuclear envelope, chromatin,
chromosomes, and nucleolus.

I will compare it to the “Chef’ because the chef

is responsible on what food to be served or what
actions to be done in a restaurant Ma’am.

Group 2

Yes that’s right!

4. Cell membrane
a phospholipid bilayer
with embedded proteins that separate the
internal contents of the cell from its
surrounding environment. A phospholipid is
a lipid molecule with two fatty acid chain
which is hydrophobic and a phosphate
containing group that is hydrophilic. The
plasma membrane controls the passage of
organic molecules ions, water, and oxygen in
and out of the cell. Wastes (such as carbon
dioxide and ammonia) also leave the cell by
passing through the plasma membrane.

the cell membrane is responsible for what is

coming out and coming in, in a cel llike the
door is allowing what goes in and what goes out
of the restaurant

That’s right!

5. Cell wall
Structure
external to the cell membrane. A
rigid covering that gives protection,
provides structural support and
gives shape to the cell. The major
organic molecule in the plant cell
wall is cellulose, a polysaccharide
made up of glucose units. It is the pressure of
water against the cell wall that
creates the stiffness that give the crunch in
fruits and vegetables.

it is also the outer covering that protects the

cells or the plant cell. Just like a brick wall that
protects the entire restaurant.

Group 3

6. Mitochondrion

are-oval shaped, double membrane organelles

and often called the “powerhouses” or “energy
factories” of a cell because they are responsible
for making adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
through cellular respiration using glucose and
other nutrients. It is important to point out that
muscle cells have a very high concentration
of mitochondria.

Very good!

7. Vacuoles
plant cells have a large central vacuole that
occupies most of the area of the cell.
It plays a key role in regulating the
cell’s concentration of water in
changing environmental conditions.
Have you ever noticed that if you
forget to water the plants for a few
days, it wilts? That’s because as the
water concentration in the soil
Energy from sunlight and converted it into becomes lower than the water
food. What we called this process? concentration in the plant, water
moves out of the central vacuoles and
cytoplasm. As the central vacuole

loss of support to the cell walls of plant cells
Very good, the process of photosynthesis. results in the wilted appearance of the plant. the
vacuole can store food as well and I compare it
They are green because they contain to the refrigerator can store food as well.
a chemical called Chlorophyll.

Can you proceed?

Okay class thank you for your participation.

8. Chloroplast
Chloroplasts are plant cell organelles that
carry out photosynthesis.

( Ana raising her hand)\

Ana: Photosynthesis Maam.
2. Practicing skills
Objective #2

Like mitochondria, chloroplasts have outer

and inner membrane but within the inner
membrane is a set of interconnected and
stacked fluid-filled membrane sacs called
thylakoids are found. Each stack of
thylakoids is called a granum. The fluid
enclosed by the inner membrane that
surrounds the grana is called the stroma.

What did you notice to the picture that I

showed?

Yes Gia,

Very good! Now, we have another activity

we have discussed earlier. You will construct
a Venn diagram to show parts that are
common to both and
parts that are only found in either plant or
animal cells

(Gia raising her hand)

Gia: What we have seen is that they have

F. Developing Mastery similarities and differences with other
organelles in plant and animal cells
Okay class! Now we will play a game again.
I have a big question mark, all you need to
do is to pass the question mark while the
music is playing and if the music stops the
one who hold or got a question mark will
guess the answer on what being ask. The one
can get the correct answer will have reward.

Questions to be ask

1. What specialized structures found

within cells that perform specific
functions necessary for the cell's
survival and activity?

2. It controls the passage of

organic molecules ions, water, and oxygen in
and out of the cell.

3. A rigid covering that gives

protection,
provides structural support and
gives shape to the cell what is it?

4. This is called a “powerhouses” or

“energy factories” of a cell because
they are responsible for making
adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
through cellular respiration using
glucose and other nutrients.

5. Except to the cell wall and vacuole

what structure that found in the plant
cell but not found to the animal cell?

Did you enjoy the activity class? 1. Organelles

That’s great!
2.Cell Membrane
G. Practical application of
concept
I have some questions, you will answer me
True if the statement is correct, if the
statement is wrong, you will answer False
and explain why.
3.Cell wall
1. There is a cell membrane around all
cells?

That right!

2. All cells have a cell wall?

4. Mithochondria

That’s great! 5. Chloroplast

3. The cell membrane controls what the Yes Ma’am.

cell will look like and how it behaves.

That’s correct!

H. Making Generalization/ 1. True

Abstraction

And now, what is the purpose of

mitochondria? 2. False –
The cell wall gives the plant cell a more
definite shape than an animal cell.
Animal cells do not have a cell wall.
They are surrounded by a cell membrane
only.

Mitochondria function as batteries that

produce more than 90% of the energy in your 3. False- The nucleus controls what the cell
body's cells. Mitochondria are really looks like and how it behaves
important in high-energy demanding organs
such as your heart, liver, muscles and brain.
40% of each heart muscle cell and 25% of
each liver cell are made up of mitochondria.

So all organelles are important in our lives

even if they have different functions but they
are united in the work. similar to the pictures
regarding the restaurant each one is needed
even though they have different tasks but it is
for one purpose.

I know you learn a lot from this topic, The classic role of mitochondria is oxidative
anyone who can summarize the whole phosphorylation, which generates ATP by
lesson? utilizing the energy released during the
oxidation of the food we eat. ATP is used in
turn as the primary energy source for most
biochemical and physiological processes, such
as growth, movement and homeostasis.

Good job!

The human body is composed of trillions of

cells. They provide structure for the body, take
in nutrients from food, convert those nutrients
into energy, and carry out specialized functions.
I. Evaluation
