Activity 1:

Project
Task The task group was designed to facilitate academic activities such as
group writing assignments, sharing research findings, and receiving

Social The social group aimed to create a friendly virtual environment where
group students, teachers, and the intern could interact informally. It helped

Students’ Perceptions
Accessibility Students appreciated the convenience of posting and
receiving feedback anytime, anywhere. However, limited
internet access outside the home was a disadvantage.
Rapport building Facebook fostered ease of communication and friendships
among classmates. However, fear of losing face due to weak
English skills discouraged some from posting.
Opportunities for Increased interaction in English with classmates, teachers,
L2 interaction and the intern. Students could ask questions and clarify
doubts outside class.
Provision of model Teacher-provided examples helped students understand
examples tasks better and complete homework effectively.
Data collection Facebook facilitated easy sharing of surveys and collecting
primary data for research projects.
Usability Facebook was user-friendly, allowing students to read and
share ideas. Some felt it led to copying peers' ideas.
Privacy Public posting led to hesitation for some students, fearing
judgment or embarrassment over language errors.
