Computer Laboratory Hands-On Activity: Statistical Analysis with JASP and

Google Forms

Objective:

Students will design a survey using Google Forms, collect data on college experiences using
Likert-scale questions, and analyze the results using JASP software.

Part 1: Creating the Google Form

Steps:

1. Set Up the Form:

o Open Google Forms (https://forms.google.com).
o Create a new form titled: "College Experience Survey."
o Add 10 Likert-scale questions related to college experiences.

Example Questions:

1. I am satisfied with the quality of teaching in my courses.

2. The college facilities (libraries, labs) meet my needs.
3. I feel supported by my professors and academic advisors.
4. The courses I take are relevant to my career goals.
5. I have opportunities for personal and professional growth.
6. The learning environment encourages participation.
7. I can access academic resources easily.
8. The college fosters a sense of community.
9. I am satisfied with the campus infrastructure (Wi-Fi, classrooms).
10. The college provides adequate support for mental health and well-being.

Likert Scale:

 Strongly Disagree
 Disagree
 Neutral
 Agree
 Strongly Agree

2. Distribute the Form:

o Share the form link with classmates to collect at least 20 responses.
Part 2: Analyzing Data with JASP

Steps:

1. Import Data:
o Download the responses from Google Forms as a CSV file.
o Open JASP (https://jasp-stats.org) and load the CSV file.
2. Data Preparation:
o Check that Likert-scale responses are correctly categorized as ordinal data.
3. Descriptive Statistics:
o Calculate the mean, median, and standard deviation for each question.
o Create frequency tables and bar charts to visualize responses.
4. Reliability Analysis:
o Conduct Cronbach’s Alpha to assess the reliability of the survey.
5. Correlation Analysis (Optional):
o Identify relationships between different survey items.

Part 3: Interpretation and Reporting

Tasks:

 Interpret Results:
o Analyze patterns in student responses.
o Identify strengths and areas for improvement in college experiences.
 Write a Short Report:
o Summarize key findings with visual aids from JASP.
o Include insights from reliability and correlation analyses.

Part 4: Submission Guidelines

What to Submit:

1. Google Form Link:

o Provide the link to your completed Google Form.
2. CSV File:
o Upload the CSV file containing survey responses.
3. JASP Project File:
o Export and submit the JASP project file (.jasp).
4. Report Document:
o Submit a short report (in PDF format) that includes:
 Survey questions.
 Descriptive statistics results.
 Graphical visualizations.
 Analysis interpretation.
Deadline:

 November 29, 2024, Friday

Submission Platform:

Expected Outcome:

Students will learn to design surveys, collect and analyze quantitative data, and interpret
statistical results using software tools like Google Forms and JASP.
