ACCORDING TO IS 15627:2022
This Product Manual shall be used as reference material by all Regional/Branch Offices &

various products. The document may also be used by prospective applicants desirous of

2. Sampling Guidelines:
a) Raw material : ---
Each type of Tyre as per the approved Family of Tyres
according to Clause 6.2.5.2 of IS 15627:2022 shall be tested
for GoL/CSoL.
b) Grouping guidelines : If a Tubeless Tyre version is approved, Tube version for the
same Tyre Designation may also be covered in the Scope of
Licence based on the Manufacturing/Testing capabilities of
the Manufacturer.
3 Tyres - As per Table 21 of IS 15627:2022 (4 tyres - in case
c) Sample Size : of compliance to clause 4.2.2). Also see Item 5 below.

5. Possible tests in a day :

Marking, Tyre Strength Test (Plunger Test), Tread wear indicators
Note: However, during surveillance inspection (of 3 days), complete factory testing shall
be carried out, for which visit charges for 2nd and 3rd day shall be realized from
licensee as per the prevailing rate of special inspection charges. No factory sample shall
be drawn during surveillance inspection. Two Market samples shall be drawn during
an operative year for which testing charges shall be borne by BIS.

ANNEX B

Scheme of Inspection and Testing

1. LABORATORY - A laboratory shall be maintained which shall be suitably equipped (as

per the requirement given in column 2 of Table 1) and staffed, where different tests given in
the specification shall be carried out in accordance with the methods given in the
specification.

1.1 The manufacturer shall prepare a calibration plan for the test equipments.

2. TEST RECORDS – The manufacturer shall maintain test records for the tests carried out
to establish conformity.

3. LABELLING AND MARKING – As per the requirement of IS 15627:2022.

4. LEVELS OF CONTROL - The tests as indicated in column 1 of Table 1 and the levels of
control in column 3 of Table 1, shall be carried out on the whole production of the factory
which is covered by this plan and appropriate records maintained in accordance with
paragraph 2 above.

4.1 RAW MATERIAL CONTROL – All the incoming raw materials shall be tested and
proper records maintained before releasing material for production. Alternatively, the raw
material shall be accompanied by the test certificate of the supplier. Recommended list of
various raw materials is given in Annex I.

4.2 PROCESS CONTROL – The frequency of inspection and parameters shall be according
to the approved plant quality audit programme. The recommendatory areas of manufacturing
given in Annex II may be covered in this programme. During each stage, the given
parameters and equipment set up shall be controlled, audited and recorded.

5. REJECTIONS – Disposal of non-conforming product shall be done in such a way so as to

ensure that there is no violation of provisions of BIS Act, 2016.
