1. Scope
This guide describes how to download, install and use the Cato VPN Client on your MacOS device.

2. Downloading Your Client for Installation

In addition to downloading the Cato VPN Client installation file, you can optionally download a
profile file that contains your configuration credentials, and enters your login details
automatically.
However, if you prefer, you can enter your credentials manually.

1. Click MacOS and click 1. DOWNLOAD VPN

CLIENT. You will be redirected to the Mac App
Store to continue.

2. Optional - Click 2. DOWNLOAD PROFILE and

note where you saved the file for later use.

3. Installing the Cato VPN Client for MacOS

To install the Cato VPN Client:

1. Click View in Mac App Store.

If the following dialog box appears, click Open App Store.

2. In the App Store window that appears, click Get.

3. Click Install App.

4. Click Open.

4. Logging into Your Cato VPN Client

5. In the following dialog box, click Always Allow.

Make sure you also install the Cato Networks SSL Certificate on your device. For more
information, click Certificates on the Cato Networks User Portal.

4. Logging into Your Cato VPN Client

When you start Cato VPN Client for the first time, you need to
configure your account using either of the following methods:
● Automatically by using the configuration file:
a. Click Open Configuration File.
b. Navigate to the location of the profile file you
downloaded in Section 2 - Downloading Your Client for
Installation
● Manually by entering your credentials:
a. Click Enter Credentials.

b. Enter your credentials as detailed in the email you

received from your administrator and the password
you defined.

After six consecutive failed login attempts, you will be locked out of your account for at
least 30 minutes. If you prefer, you can ask your administrator to unlock your account
earlier.

c. Click CONTINUE.

5. Getting to Know Your VPN Client Interface

The Cato VPN Client user interface consists of a vertical menu with icons for each of the main
functions:

● (Status) - displays basic information

about the connection status and your
credentials.

● (Connection Data) - displays detailed

information about your current connection.

● (Settings) - configure your Cato

VPN Client to connect using advanced settings.

● (User Selection) - define and switch

between different user accounts.

To connect to the VPN:

1. In the Cato VPN Client, click .

2. Click the VPN client button.

3. The connection status changes to Connected to indicate that your PC is connected to the
corporate VPN network.

To disconnect your PC from the VPN:

1. In the Cato VPN Client, click .

2. Click the VPN client button.

To view detailed information on your connection data:

8. Configuring Your Connection Settings

1. In the vertical menu, click (Connection Data).

Parameter Description
Bytes Sent Total number of bytes sent over the VPN connection since it was estab-
lished.
Bytes Received Total number of bytes received over the VPN connection since it was
established.
Local IP IP address of the host in the local wired or wireless network.
Cato IP IP address assigned by Cato Networks.
Connected PoP The Cato PoP to which this VPN is currently connected.
Distance To PoP Latency measured between this VPN client and the Cato PoP to which it
is connected.
Session Start Time Date and time when this VPN session was established.
Last Active The data and time when the latest packet was transferred in this VPN
session.

8. Configuring Your Connection Settings

You can configure your Cato VPN Client to connect using advanced settings.
To configure your Connection Settings:

1. In the vertical menu, click (Settings).

2. Configure the settings as described below.

Item Description
Manual Pop Selection To specify a specific PoP to connect to:
1. Select Manual PoP selection.
2. Enter the IP of the PoP.

You should receive the PoP IP from your IT admin or from

Cato Support.

Enable Proxy To direct traffic to a manual proxy:

1. Select Enable Proxy.
2. Click Path to PAC file and enter
the path to the PAC file specifying the manual proxy.

The PAC file is usually stored on a remote server. You should

receive the path from your IT admin.

VPN on-demand The VPN client is activated whenever it detects

traffic to the internet, and while active it
operates as configured.

shown in the following examples:

To upload a split tunnel definition file:
1. Select the Split Tunnel Enabled check box.
2. Click Upload Split Tunnel Configuration.
3. Navigate to the configuration file.

1. In the vertical menu, click (Settings).

2. Click Contact Support.

3. Fill in your details and describe your problem.

4. Click Send.

9. Defining and Connecting to Different User Accounts

You can define multiple Cato VPN Client user accounts and quickly switch between them to
connect through different accounts.
To access the user accounts window:

1. In the vertical menu, click (User Selection).

To switch to a different user account:

1. Click the required user account.

2. Click OK.

To add an account:

1. Click New.

To edit an existing account:

1. Click the account you want to edit.

2. Click Edit.
