Wire Products Limited (WPL), a member of the IPS Group of Companies; an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development
Network (AKDN), has since 1967, been committed to producing the best quality galvanized steel products in Kenya and in
East Africa. Widely known for SHAMBA the brand, our products range from heavy gauge chain links, colour-coated chain

We make nails of all kinds and for all uses. Types of nails include:

 BARBED WIRE

Things to look out for:

• Strength of wire: Wire can either be high tensile or low tensile. High tensile barbed wire is of superior quality. SHAMBA is made of high tensile
wire with a break load of 650kgs which is 6 times stronger than ordinary barbed wire. When used for fencing, there is no sagging and spacing
between posts can be wider. This type of wire is an effective barrier for controlling and protecting large animals like cattle and horses.
• Length per roll: Length in meters is clearly displayed on each packed roll; the thinner the wire the longer the barbed wire.
Available lengths are: 500m, 610m, 480m, 220m and 180m.
• Size of wire: The available gauges are: 16g (1.60mm diameter) & 12.5g (2.50mm diameter).

Weld Mesh Sheets BRC Sizes
We make Weld mesh sheets of various sizes, depending on customers’ requirements; the following
are some of the critical parameters one needs to know before buying the required weld mesh sheets. A. IN ROLLS
Overall dimensions: Consider the length and width of the sheet required. LENGTH WIDTH NOMINAL MESH SIZE
Common sizes include:  8 ft by 4ft  8ft by 6ft  8ft by 10ft (M) (M) DIAMETER (mm)
Note that as long as one side of the weld mesh is 8 feet or less, the length can vary. (mm)
Mesh size: This refers to the hole size of the mesh. Common sizes include:
 50mm by 50mm  60mm by 60mm  75mm by 75mm A 610 48 2.10 2.50 190 x 190

The galvanized form does not need any further painting or rust prevention measures, while the black

Galvmesh is a new, modern, durable and versatile mesh that has a smooth surface and a beautiful LENGTH WIDTH NOMINAL MESH SIZE
finished look. The unique structure and pattern of this mesh makes it very strong and sturdy. Common (M) (M) DIAMETER (mm)

BRC’s
British Reinforced Concrete, (BRC’s) are used in the construction industry for reinforcing concrete.
In order to increase the bonding strength between concrete and the mesh, the BRC’s we make are
ribbed, a process only available at WPL at no extra charge. (See circled in the picture).
The actual indentation on the wire reads “WPL”.

 CHAIN LINK
Things to look out for:
• Width of chain link: The standard sizes are between 4 feet to 8 feet, but other sizes up to 3.0 meters can be made as per the customer’s requirements.
• Mesh Size: The holes’ size is important. The smaller the size, the stronger the chain link. Available sizes are 80x80mm, 50x50mm and 25x25mm.
• Size of wire: This refers to the thickness of wire being used. The thicker the wire the stronger the chain link.
Available sizes range from 1.20mm to 4.00mm diameter.
• Zinc coating: The amount of zinc coating on the wire determines the life of the chain link; commercial coating will have a lifespan of 5 to 10 years
depending on the environment, while heavy coated wire will serve up to 20 years. It is generally recommended that coastal areas fencing material should
be heavily coated due to high humidity and salty sprays.
• Length of roll: The packaging per roll is also important. Typical lengths are not less than 18 meters.
• Type of Edges: Wire edges are either barbed end or knuckled edge. Barbed end provides better security as it is not easy to open a link and gain access.
These are used mainly for high strength chain link as opposed to knuckled edge, which is preferred for light weight chain link.
