Modula LIFT® Benefits

Modular Frame Construction

Units feature a modular frame construction, being fully
structural and not relying on exterior cladding to add to the 4
unit’s strength. Unit heights can easily be increased or
decreased as needed in the future.

Steel Reinforced Toothed Belt Lifting Design

Heavy Duty, steel reinforced toothed lifting belts provide
unsurpassed safety with secure lifting on both sides of the
tray.

Tray Weight Monitoring

Units measure and log the tray’s product load each time a
tray is stored and automatically protects from the possibility
of overloading.

Dynamic Product Height Measurement & Storage

Products located in trays are measured precisely each time
stored, ensuring the highest storage density possible with 25
mm adjustability.

Internal or External Picking Bay Types

Internal-bay configurations available for smaller parts
storage and reduced unit footprints. An industry best
external-bay configuration is also available for the fastest
throughput rates and true top picking application.

Single-Level or Dual Level Tray delivery Types

Trays may be delivered to the user at either single lower
level, or where required, the second tray in queue is ready
and delivered above the lower after picking is complete.

Copilot Operator Interface

The 10.5” colour touch-screen interface provides full access
& information to the user from any task required, including
graphical tray layouts.

MODULA WMS Software

WMS Software with a wide range of functionalities available
allows for simple integration to your HOST system and
provides rich, simple information to users.

The MODULA LIFT® VLM is available in various product types that differ in size, capacity, load unit
and optional accessories in order to better meet your needs.
MODULA® LIFT – Standard features for all models

Modula® Lift sets the market standard in terms of efficiency, quality, ergonomic and safety. All the
units come from the factory with following integrated features:
5

Modular and Self Supporting Structure

MODULA’s structure has an extremely modern design and
consists of a load-bearing profile framework and metal sheet
plastic coated exterior panels. All structural components and
exterior panels are produced using a state of the art, highly
automated production line. Unit heights are modular up to
14,100 mm, available on 200 mm incremental steps. All
MODULA VLM units have a unit net capacity of 60,000 Kg.
Each unit is supported by eight (8) base plates, allowing the
unit to be placed on almost any surface and ensuring even
floor loading.

Central Elevating Lifting Platform

The central elevator lifting platform is located between the
front and rear columns of trays and delivers trays to the
delivery area as requested. Vertical tray movement is
accomplished by a steel reinforced toothed belt drive
system and a self-braking gear motor controlled by an
inverter. Vertical positioning is controlled by a count
encoder. Tray stability is provided by 8 rollers on each side
of the elevator which guide along the unit’s frame structure.
The automated tray load/unload operation is made by a
device with a cam drive system.

Flexible Height Management

All MODULA® VLM include a pair of product height check
photocells, which are located just inside the rear of the
picking bay; internal or external units alike.
The product height check photocells are used to measure
trays containing product as they moving inside the
MODULA® for storage. The unit can automatically
determine the best and most efficient storage location
within the unit and store the tray.
Tray Weight Monitoring

MODULA® VLM are provided with a security procedure

which automatically weighs all the trays before being
stored to avoid overloading problems. All the measured 6
weights are recorded in order to not exceed the total net
load capacity of the unit.
Overload trays are rejected and will not be stored inside
the unit until they do not respect the requirements.
The weight of each tray is displayed on the CoPILOT
Operator Interface.

Copilot Operator Interface

The CoPILOT is a compact industrial PC, with Microsoft CE
installed in, designed for harsh environments. Thanks the
large 10.4” TFT colour touch screen with 800 x 600
resolution, this HMI allows the operator to check all the
information regarding the Modula LIFT and to organize his
tasks.
Application SW: Lift OS

Touch Screen: Resistive

Connections: Ethernet and USB

Lift OS
Lift OS is a basic part of a multi-layer SW, comes with the
unit’s console and allows the operator or a HOST WMS
System to call by tray number. In addition to that, Lift OS
also allows the user to:
Perform the Unit parameters modification;
Manage the alarms diagnosis and the unit recovery;
Run the machine in manual mode and semi-
automated mode;
Furthermore, the Lift OS software automatically tracks a tray’s
usage and frequency so that the most frequently accessed
trays are stored in locations closest to the picking bay area to
ensure quick access and to minimize picking times.
Safety devices
All MODULA® VLM units come standardly equipped with
personal and products protection:
- Anti-intrusion photocell barriers to guarantee
7
maximum operator safety as trays move in and out
of the picking bay area.
- Emergency stop button, located on the CoPilot®
operator console/HMI.
- Automatic machine diagnostics on machine Start-
up.
- Front and rear tray stops hold trays securely in
place at all times.

Certifications
All MODULA® VLM units are TUV certified. The TÜV GS
certificate acknowledges the product safety standards,
which are above the minimum reliability requirements
provided for by Law.
The German GS mark is the acronym for Geprüfte
Sicherheit or 'tested safety', and is granted when the
product passes specific tests conducted by a duly
authorised independent third party.

WMS Software
Modula WMS software is a warehouse management
package ideal for automated storage equipment, such as
MODULA VLM’s as well as with conventional storage
methods (manual areas with shelving).
Modula WMS software is able to be used as the perfect
completion and addition to MODULA® VLM’s for additional
management or as stand-alone software tool for your
warehouse.
The WMS Software is available in various packages that
differ in functionalities in order to better meet your needs.
