1. The 2024 United States 60th presidential election was held on


November 5. Former President Donald Trump (Republican
Party) won against Vice President Kamala Harris (Democratic
Party) with a majority of the votes. As a result, Donald Trump is
set to become the 47th President of the United States. He
thanked his supporters after claiming victory.

2. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Haryana election on


October 8, 2024. Nayab Singh Saini was elected as the Chief
Minister of Haryana for the second time. He took oath on
October 17, 2024, as Chief Minister of Haryana at a ceremony
held in Panchkula.
3. Elon Musk's SpaceX successfully launched its powerful Starship
rocket in an exciting test on Sunday, October 13. The rocket,
built to carry heavy loads and potentially help people to travel
to Mars, flew into space and returned to Earth for the first
time. SpaceX used arms called “Chopsticks” to catch the rocket
booster as it came back down. This launch brings SpaceX closer
to making rockets that can be reused multiple times, making
space travel more efficient.

4. Ratan Tata, the Indian industrialist and chairman of Tata Group,


passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86, due to age-
related health issues. He was admired for his kindness and
strong values, often helping people and donating to many
causes. He played a significant role in making Tata Motors
successful worldwide and launched affordable cars like Tata
Nano. He was known for his love of animals, especially dogs. He
also inspired people to work hard and care for others.
5. Rhea Singha, a 23-year-old from Gujarat, has been crowned
Miss Universe India 2024 on September 22 and will represent
India at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico on
November 16, 2024.

6. South Indian Film star Chiranjeevi Konidela was honored as the


"Most Prolific Star" in the Indian film industry by Guinness
World Records in Hyderabad for his achievements on
September 20, 2024.

7. Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, resigned on September


15, 2024 and Atishi, a prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader
has taken over as the new Chief Minister. Atishi, known for her
work in education and will serve as the Chief Minister until the
February 2025 elections.
8. India's performance at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris was
impressive, with a total of six medals, including one silver and
five bronze.

Medal Winners:
• Neeraj Chopra: Won a silver medal in the men's javelin throw
event.
• Manu Bhaker: Won a bronze medal in the women's 10 m air
pistol event and another bronze in the mixed 10m air pistol
team event alongside Sarabjot Singh.
• Swapnil Kusale: Secured a bronze medal in the men's 50 m rifle.
• Indian men's hockey team: Won a bronze medal after defeating
Spain.
• Aman Sehrawat: Won a bronze medal in the men's freestyle 57
kg wrestling event.

9. India made history at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris by


achieving its highest ever medal count, winning a total of 29
medals, including seven gold, nine silver and thirteen bronze
medals.
10. The 45th Chess Olympiad was an international team chess
event organised by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in
Budapest, Hungary, from 10 to 23 September 2024. India
achieved a historic victory by claiming two gold medals in both
the open and women’s categories.
