12-Volt Battery
Service in EVs
GM Electric Vehicles (EV), such as the LYRIQ, Blazer EV
and Silverado EV, are equipped with a high-voltage
battery system for vehicle propulsion and a 12V
battery system that is used to power a number of
electrical loads, including the instrument cluster and
infotainment, lighting, rear defrost and heated seats.
Here’s a look at the 12V battery and several related
features and their role as part of the charging system.
The purpose of the charging system is to maintain
the 12V battery charge and vehicle loads. The main
difference between a conventional generator charging
system and this system is that the generator has been
replaced by the T18 Battery Charger, which provides Data parameter Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Battery

the power to charge the battery from the high-
voltage system.
Charging system modes of operation include:
• Pre-Sleep Mode (Active when the vehicle is off)
• Enhanced Battery Support Mode (Charging the 12V
battery when off; active when the vehicle is off)
• Transport/Logistics Mode
• Normal Mode
• Battery Sulfation Mode
• Battery Saver Mode
• Headlamp Mode
• Voltage Reduction/Fuel Economy Mode
TIP: Only disconnect the 12V battery/system as
indicated by a service procedure. In addition, minimize

HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE LOCKOUT
Enabling the High-Voltage Service Lockout (HVSL) performs two

functions: it opens the electrical connections and it prevents the DISCONNECTION AND
closing of those connections using a locking device. CONNECTION
Before disconnecting the battery negative cable, check if the
Battery Maintenance Mode is inactive. The mode can be active
with the ignition off regardless of whether the vehicle charge
cord is plugged in or not. When the mode is active, the T18
Battery Charger will energize the 12V battery cables and charge
the 12V battery.
Check the 12V battery voltage with a digital multimeter before
disconnecting any battery cable leads. If the voltage is 13.5 volts
or above, the Battery Maintenance Mode is active. Technicians
must wait for the Battery Charger to deactivate before
disconnecting the battery negative cable.
TIP: Disconnecting the battery cables while Battery Maintenance
Mode is active may result in an electrical shock or a burn from
hot battery cable leads.

Before removing the battery negative cable, engage the High-
Voltage Service Lockout (HVSL). When the lockout is engaged,
the indicator tab wording changes from ON to OFF.
Place a tie strap or the High Voltage (HV) Disable Padlock through
the exposed HVSL hole to prevent improper re-engagement.
When using the HV Disable Padlock, be sure to remove the key
and store it in a safe place.

Once the 12V Battery is disconnected and reconnected, it will
cause the BCM to use a 65% default SOC. After 4 ignition cycles,
the BCM will exit the default SOC behavior and begin integration
of the SOC from that point. If vehicles with the VIP architecture

HUMMER EV 37-Inch Tires
Calibration
HUMMER EV trucks feature standard 35-
inch tires that are specially engineered to
deliver outstanding traction and towering
ground clearance. In addition, the pickup can
fit tires up to 37 inches without any vehicle
modifications other than a calibration (RPO
RWQ) to allow for accurate speedometer
readings.
Dealerships can access the special speedometer
calibration file when installing 37-inch tires
by contacting the Techline Customer Support
Center (TCSC). Refer to RPO RWQ when calling
the TCSC.
The installation of larger 37-inch tires is
a customer pay option. Any fees for the The HUMMER EV truck’s tires are specially engineered to deliver

of the tires is the customer’s responsibility.
When removing and installing the tires, be sure
to follow the appropriate Service Information
procedures. It may be difficult to remove the
wheel due to foreign material or a tight fit
between the wheel and the hub/rotor. Before
installing the wheels, remove any corrosion
buildup on the wheel mounting surface using
the appropriate special tools.
While mounting large tires, keep in mind that
it may take up to 70 seconds for all the air to
completely exhaust from a large tire. Follow the
proper wheel attachment and tire mounting
procedures to avoid damaging the wheel at the
mounting surface.

Inoperative Front Heated
Seat Switch Indicator Lights
The heated seat switches may be inoperative.
It may appear that the front heated seats do not turn on in
some 2023-2024 Silverado and Sierra trucks. When a front
heated seat is turned on, any combination of the three
“on” indicator lights, or all of the lights, in the heated seat
switch may be inoperative. Since the indicator lights do not
illuminate, it may appear that the front heated seats are not
heating properly. However, the heated seats will still operate
normally.
The inoperative heated seat indicator lights may be due to
an issue with the A26 Front HVAC User Interface Control.
Do not replace any parts at this time as the replacement
parts will have the same issue. Updated parts are being
developed.
Customers should be informed that the front heated seats A26 Front HVAC User Interface Control
will continue to operate normally when turned on; however,
the switch indicators will not illuminate. When the vehicle

Connector X175
A number of powertrain DTCs may be set along with an
illuminated Check Engine MIL on some 2023-2024 Colorado,
Canyon; 2024 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 models equipped
with the 2.7L turbo V6 engine (RPO L3B).
Before making any engine or transmission repairs, inspect the
X175 transmission connector, located under the vehicle at the
rear of the automatic transmission.
Remove the connector and check that all terminals are properly
seated.
Verify proper terminal tension.
In addition, review the appropriate Service Information and, using
the correct terminal tension tool, verify proper terminal tension.
If poor terminal tension is found, repair or replace the terminal as
needed and check for proper operation.
