Chapter 19: Spread Sheet

The spreadsheet Student contains information on Students


It has four Worksheets called info, marks, payment, chart. Some function required to use different
worksheets.
Open the spreadsheet Student
Open the spreadsheet info
Enter “task A1,” your name, roll and class in the header

Task A1 a
(i) Insert a new row at the top of the spreadsheet and enter the heading ‘Cordova Intl School and College
in cell B1 (1)
(ii) Merge and centre cells B1 to H1 (1)
(iii) Use a spreadsheet function to insert an automated date and time in cell A1 (1)
(iv) Set the formatting of the heading row to:
• shading – dark
• font colour – white
• font enhancement – bold and underline
• row height – 28
• text alignment – vertically centred. (4)

Task A1 b
(i) Use one spreadsheet function to display the full name for roll 1. (3)
(ii) Enter a formula to calculate the: Age for roll 1. (3)
(iii) Replicate the calculations for all the students. (1)

SAVE the spreadsheet as TASK A1


Task A1 c
(i) Insert a new row at the top of the spreadsheet and enter the heading ‘Marks Sheet’ in cell B1 (1)
(ii) Merge and centre cells B1 to H1 (1)
(iii) Use a spreadsheet function to insert an automated date and time in cell A1 (1)
(iv) Insert a new row at the bottom of the heading ‘Class: IGCSE Part 1 (January)’ in cell B2 (1)
(v) Merge and centre cells B2 to H2 (1)
(vi) Use one spreadsheet function to display the total marks for roll 1. (3)
(vii) Enter a formula to find the remarks (those students get 90 or more than 90 they will achieve
“A*” and rest of the students will get “U”) (3)

Replicate the calculations for all the students. (1)


(viii) Use one spreadsheet function to display the dropdown list for remarks and Number of
Students got A*
(ix)Use one spreadsheet function to display the: (3)

• highest number from total number.


• lowest number from total number.
• Average number from total number.
(x) Sort the data into descending order of roll number.
(xi) Use one spreadsheet function to display the specific (name, total, remarks) (6)
when you insert value.

Task A1 D
Format the Payment worksheet so that:
(i) Insert a new row at the top of the spreadsheet and enter the heading ‘Marks Sheet’ in cell B1 (1)
(ii) Merge and centre cells B1 to H1 (1)
(iii)currency values show the currency symbol (£) with two decimal places (1)
(iv)cell A2-D2 uses text wrap to use the space efficiently (1)
(v) Use one spreadsheet function to find the due for roll 1 (1)
(vi) Replicate the calculations for all the students. (1)
(vii) Use one spreadsheet function to find the Total due. (1)
• gridlines are displayed when the spreadsheet is printed (1)
• all data is visible. (1)
SAVE the spreadsheet as TASK A1

(Total for Task A1 = 44 marks)


Task A2
Create a chart showing the number of different students:
• a suitable title
• labels for the x and y axes. (6)
RESAVE the spreadsheet as TASK A1
(Total for Task A2 = 6 marks)

Task A3
OPEN a new word processing document.
ENTER ‘Task A3’, your name, candidate number and centre number in the header.
SAVE the document as TASK A3
Answer these questions in document TASK A3
(i) Explain one reason why absolute referencing is used in a spreadsheet. (2)
(ii) State the purpose of the length (LEN) function in a spreadsheet. (1)
(iii) Explain one reason why an automated date and time field is used in a spreadsheet. (2)
