objectives you can use and apply it
in the field.

Acquiring New Knowledge

C.Presenting examples and

instances

(find connections between the

lesson and the real-life; find
instances in real-life that can
connect to your lesson. It can be a
pre-test)

2
.
To start our lesson let’s have an
activity; it is called “Arrange and
identify me”
I will divide the class into five
groups. (The groups will arrange the given
Each group will receive an envelope)
envelope. Inside the envelope it
contains jumbled letters, and you
will arrange it. This words are the
hints to what will be our topic for
today.
You have 5 minutes to finish
arranging the jumbled letters.

Words:
Roots
Stem
Leaves
Flowers
Fruit

Job well done everyone!

D. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills #1

(Introduce the target skill through

activities)

Based on our activity, our topic is

about Parts of the Plants.

Do you have plants at home, Yes, teacher

class?

What kind of plants? Rose

Manggo tree
Tomato
Eggplant
Sampaguita
Money tree
Wow! That’s an amazing plant, but
let us define first what is a plant!

Please read everyone!

Plant is a living thing that grows in the
earth and has a stem, leaves, and roots.
Now that we know plants have the
name of different parts, let’s learn
more about what each part does.
We’ll start with the roots and work
our way up to the fruit.

The roots are the part of the plant

that grow underground.
absorb water
Can anyone tell me what roots do anchor the plant
for a plant?

3
That’s correct! Roots absorb water
and nutrients from the soil and hold
the plant firmly in the ground so it
doesn’t fall over. Some roots, like
carrots and radishes, are also food
for us!

Next, we have the stem. What do supports the plant

you think the stem does for the carries water
plant?

Exactly! The stem supports the

plant, keeping it upright, and it acts
like a straw, transporting water and
nutrients from the roots to the
leaves and flowers.
Some stems, like sugarcane, are
also things we eat or use!

Now, let’s talk about the leaves.

What color are most leaves, and green because of chlorophyll
why?

Great! Leaves are green because

they contain chlorophyll, which
helps the plant use sunlight to
make its own food in a process
called photosynthesis.

(Show a real leaf and let students

feel its texture.)

Leaves are like tiny food factories

for the plant!

Now, let’s look at the flowers. Why

for reproduction
do you think flowers are important
attract pollinators
for plants?

That’s right! Flowers help plants

reproduce. They make pollen and
attract pollinators like bees and
butterflies, which help produce
seeds for new plants.

Finally, let’s talk about fruits. Do

you know why plants produce fruits to protect seeds
to spread seeds
Fruits protect the seeds of a plant.
Some fruits are eaten by animals
or people, and the seeds are
spread to grow new plants!

E. Developing mastery (leads to

formative assessment)

To measure if you really understand

our lesson let’s have a short quiz.

4
Instructions: Write True if the
statement is correct, and False if it
is incorrect.

1. The roots of a plant absorb

water and nutrients from the soil.
2. The stem of a plant is
responsible for making food
through photosynthesis.
3. Leaves are usually green
because of chlorophyll, which helps
the plant make food.
4. Flowers help plants reproduce
by attracting pollinators like bees.
5. The fruit of a plant protects the
seeds and helps spread them.
6. Roots grow above the ground to
support the plant.
7. The stem supports the plant and
transports water and nutrients.
8. Leaves are only used for
decoration and have no important
function.
9. Without flowers, most plants
would not be able to produce
seeds.
10. Fruits are the only part of a plant
that we cannot eat.

Answer key:
1) True
2) False
3) True
4) True
5) True
6) False
7) True
8) False
9) True

F. Finding practical application of

concepts and skills in real life

(Relate the learned skill in real-life; let

students apply the learnings from the
lesson to their real-life)

Now, let’s think about how we use

plants in our daily lives. What are
some ways plants help us? provide food
Oxygen
Medicine

5
Shade
How do you take care of plants at
home or in school? Why is it important for clean air, food, and shelter
to care for plants?

So, taking care of plants helps us stay

healthy and live better!
LOCALIZATION:

Assessment

G. Making generalizations and

abstractions about the lesson

(Let students share their

realizations about the lesson; what
are their conclusions)

Let’s think about the parts of plants

we’ve talked about today.
What have we learned? Roots take in water, stems transport it, leaves
make food, and flowers help with
reproduction.
Each part works together to help
the plant grow. Can anyone make
a sentence describing what
happens when one part of a plant The plant may not grow properly without
is missing or not working well? roots, or flowers, or leaves.

VALUES INTEGRATION:
(Incorporate the values learned)

Plants are part of God’s creation,

and they play a vital role in helping
by watering them
us live. How do you think we can
not picking them carelessly
show care and respect for plants? and ensuring they get sunlight and soil.

Taking care of plants is also a way

to show gratitude for the
environment and ensure we have
clean air and food.

H. Evaluating Learning
(can actually be part of G)
Let’s check your understanding
one more time.

6
Good! Now, for your
assignment…

I. Additional Activities for

Application
(can be assignments)
Find a small plant in your backyard,
garden, or neighborhood (with
permission).
Observe the plant carefully. Write
the following in your journal:
The name of the plant (if known).
A description of each visible part
(roots, stem, leaves, flowers, fruit, if
any).
What do you think each part is
doing to help the plant grow?

V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
