identification of pathological syndromes for further use in studying digestive system in different aspects. In the
learning process of the course the student must learn to work with medical records, results of laboratory and
instrumental studies in the future, the ability to use scientific research activities.

The program incorporates training skills communication with patients and colleagues on the basis of medical ethics
and deontology.Individual work of students are carried out according to the plan, prepares the student for
independent work with sources, develops critical thinking, thus supporting the aspiration of the student's
continuous improvement.

Pre requisites

A course in "digestive system" builds on the basic knowledge students acquired in the study of normal and
pathological anatomy, normal and pathological physiology, biochemistry. The result is the strategy of integration of
the goals and objectives of teaching students of the medical faculty of the discipline linking the teaching of therapy
such as "vertical" (between adjacent courses) and horizontally (between subjects one course).

Post requisites

Therapy, general surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, urology, oncology, resuscitation , therapy of infectious diseases,
epidemiology, medical rehabilitation

As a result of studying this subject in medical students formed important professional skills examination of
digestivesystem of the patient, fundamentals of clinical thinking and medical ethics and deontology. The course is
an integral and fundamental part of the clinical training of young professionals.

INTEGRATED CURRICULUM

comprises of system-based modules such as Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Biochemistry of

digestive systemand Radiation diagnostics of digestive pathology, digestive diseases in adults and children, which
links basic science knowledge to clinical problems. Integrated teaching means that subjects are presented as a
meaningful whole. Students will be able to have better understanding of basic sciences when they repeatedly learn
in relation to clinical examples. Case-based discussions, computer-based assignments, early exposure to clinics,
wards, and skills acquisition in skills lab and physiotherapy department are characteristics of integrated teaching
program.

The objectives (results) of teaching the course of digestivesystem

1. Ability to conduct physical examination of the patient, to identify pathological syndromes of

digestive system.
2. The ability to Express their thoughts about syndromes and symptoms orally and in writing in public
official language.
3. Ability to work in a team with other students using the medical terminology and the message to
doctors and nurses.
4. Knowledge of the main forms of syndromes.
5. The ability to participate in the scientific researchs in therapy by using of basic skills.

Boundary control- testing, boundary control- teachers evaluating of progress, activity, attendance,
copies and SIW
Final control- oral examination.
3. Policy of the academic discipline
Visits: You need to be at every lecture and practical class. If you will be not at the lecture or practical
class, you must white re-work.
Home task: You need to do home task after every practical class, because you can understand topic
better.
Final control: You get total grade on the final control, but you cannot use your lectures and small
topics on the final control.
Your attention: You cannot be late at the lectures and practical classes; you need to turn off your
mobile phone and you cannot talk at the lectures and practical classes.
Recommendations: You must be active in the practical classes, write all lectures, do not be late, also
you need to prepare every home task.

EVALUATION CRITERIA
Current control and final control (exam). The knowledge of the student, his rating is evaluated on a 100 scores scale.
The rating of current and boundary control is 40 scores (20 scores for the 1st module and 20 scores for module the
2nd), the remaining 60 scores is obtained at the final control. The ongoing monitoring involves systematic
monitoring of student work in each class during the period of the semester:
- attendance in class by the student;
- student’s activities in the classroom;
- preparation for the classes;
- mastering of studied theoretical material, etc.
Midterm control of student’s progress is carried out twice a semester according to the approved schedule of the
modules. Midterm control is carried out by an Independent inspection of AsMI, for realization of pure education
policy. Midterm control summarizes current control; midterm control is carried out of the remaining 10 scores in a
written test on the topics of the discipline of the current module.
Interpreting of 20 scores into mark during current\midterm controls

Policy of the academic discipline

Ophthalmology studied on the base of theoretical and practical classes. Studying of eye diseases, develop
medical thinking and scientific approach in the main fields of medicine.
The main forms of the training are practical, classroom activities and lecture classes which include:
1) the explanation of main topics related to eye disease such as topical and differential diagnosis,
treatment and prevention of disorders.
2) the explanation of most common factors affecting the diseases, their etiology, pathogenesis, clinical
manifestation, prognosis, approach to treatment, prevention measurements.
4) reading, making notes, retelling learnt topics, learning by heart important information
5) working with patients by gathering complaints and making a history of diseases; case-study, MCQ,
small competitions between two or more groups.

 Student must be in class at-time, according to schedule

 Students should be dressed in white medical gowns, medical caps, and be neat.
 The student can use the mobile phone only with the approval of the teacher and exclusively for the purpose
of mastering the discipline
 In the case of not attending classes, the student must work out (orally, in writing) the missed topic in full
scope
At the end of the course, students must:
1. show a necessary knowledge of theoretical course of “Ophthalmology” (lecture notes) within the
studied limits, as well as practical skills performed at the patients and practical class;
2. show a well-mastered knowledge of learnt material during practical classes, modules,
exams, by performing given tasks correct, giving right answers to asked questions.
3. show a firm knowledge of made and learnt new terms and be able to explain the meaning, and give
right definition;

Monitoring and Evaluation of Learning Outcomes

Types of control (current, boundary)
1. Current control – everyday activity and progress evaluating
2. Boundary control 1 – testing, boundary control
3. Teachers evaluating of progress, activity, attendance, copies and SIW
