Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.
Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the
engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is
not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.
Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before
removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when
the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with
your bare hand.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair

of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop
Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Mark all components for correct installation. When you disconnect the hoses, cap the ports and
plug the hoses in order to keep the system clean.

1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a container suitable for storage or for disposal.
Note: Guard (1) weighs 57 kg (125 lb).
2. Fasten a nylon strap and a suitable lifting device to guard (1) (if equipped).
3. Remove eleven bolts (2) and remove guard (1) from the machine.

4. Remove nine bolts (3). Remove hydraulic tank enclosure (4) .

5. Disconnect three electrical connectors (5). Remove the bolt with clip (7). Cut the tie straps.
6. Remove two bolts and clip (8) .
7. Remove three bolts (6). Position hydraulic oil filter (9) out of the way.

8. Disconnect four hoses (10) from the hydraulic tank.
9. Remove bolt (11) from the hydraulic tank.

12. Install tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to the hydraulic tank.

Note: The hydraulic tank weighs 88 kg (195 lb).
1. Use tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to position the hydraulic tank on the machine. Install two
bolts (15) under the fender. Remove the hoist and remove tool (A) .

2. Install three bolts (14) in the mounting bracket.
3. Install handhold (13) and install two bolts (12) .
4. Install bolt (11) to the hydraulic tank.
5. Connect four hoses (10) to the hydraulic tank.

6. Position hydraulic oil filter (9). Install three bolts (6) .
7. Install two bolts and clip (8) .
8. Install the bolt and clip (7). Install the tie straps on the wire harnesses. Connect three electrical
connectors (5).

10. Use a suitable lifting device to install guard (1) on the machine (if equipped). Install eleven bolts

11. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil.
