This assessment is worth 100% of the overall module mark and should
include your independent study to complete.
This Assessment Pack consists of a detailed assignment brief, guidance on what you
need to prepare, and information on how class sessions support your ability to
complete successfully. You’ll also find information on this page to guide you on how,
where, and when to submit. If you need additional support, please make a note of the
services detailed in this document.
How, when, and where to submit:
Submit via Turnitin link on Blackboard by 12:00 midday on Friday 10 th January 2025

Preparing for your assignment.
Your preparation will be supported by the module materials provided in lectures,
workshops and independent learning task undertaken and designated tasks related to
this portfolio. In the workshops, you will have the opportunity to start or complete
some of your portfolio tasks. You will also need to develop, complete, and refine your
portfolio as part of your independent study.
You will be expected to complete and store the required documents for your portfolio
in a timely manner throughout the duration of the module. You will obtain guidance
and be able to discuss your progress with the portfolio throughout the module. In the
interest of academic integrity please do not share your work with other students.
Some elements of your portfolio require you to undertake research as mentioned in
section 3 of this assessment brief. These must be fully referenced using the Harvard
Referencing System. References for those parts of the portfolio, should be included
within the text and in a reference list placed at the end of your submission.

Assessment Pack Contents
1. Introduction
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to enable the development of a personal
portfolio which demonstrates your development of skills and knowledge throughout
BM2047 The Business Professional module.
This work is designed to help you to maximise your potential and effectiveness
when developing your profile to enter employment. It is intended to demonstrate
your graduate skills and attributes in a consistent way and highlight your individual
skills to prospective employers.
2. Submission details
Format
The Portfolio will demonstrate your identification and selection of a specific range
of employability and personal development resources and organise and present
them in a coherent way.
Students are required to develop a Portfolio of Evidence with a 3000-word
equivalent using a clear structure. You are required to structure your portfolio as
outlined in this brief, dividing it into the five parts outlined and ensuring that you
include ALL the content that is listed. The tasks for producing the content will be
covered by the lecture content, will be supported by the activities in weekly
workshops and the independent learning tasks.
You will also be shared a BM2047 Portfolio Checklist. This will help you work
towards building your portfolio in a timely manner especially if you set mini
deadlines and complete the work as guided by the Module Leader and your Module
Tutor in lectures and workshops. Additionally, review sessions are built in to gain
feedback from tutors, see MIP for details.
This piece of coursework should lead to a professionally structured portfolio
containing examples and evidence that showcase your capabilities and potential
for prospective employers.
3. Detailed assignment brief
Portfolio Content Tasks (must include all elements in the correct order):
Part 1
An example of your own Career Development Plan and supporting document:
(25% of module grade)
a) Individual Action Plan (Personal Development Plan (PDP) using SMART goals
set throughout the module).
b) Your up-to-date Master Curriculum Vitae (CV) including contact information.
c) A summary of your LinkedIn Profile.
Part 2
Evidence of the following self-assessments and EdgeForward employability
programme that you have undertaken for the portfolio submission as follows:
(10% of module grade)
a) A Personal SWOT analysis
b) Two Aptitude Tests (e.g. via CareerEDGE, Belbin & others)
c) Careers - EdgeForward Employability award (Trek)
Part 3
A job application example related to a real or mock assessment centre application
that should consist of:
(30% of module grade)
a) Covering Letter (tailored to the job application)
b) Curriculum Vitae (CV) (tailored to the job application)
c) Company Research (specific to the job application) – i.e. labour market
research. Must include references.
d) Relevant Job and Role research (specific to the job application). Must include
references.
Part 4
A reflection using Gibb’ reflective model of 1200 – 1500 words in total. It must
include references in each of the following three parts:
(25% of module grade)
a) A brief summary of your reflection related to learning about yourself from the
aptitude tests (300 - 500 words)
b) A reflection based on your mock assessment centre experience (300 - 500
words)
c) A reflection on the module related to your professional development and
future career/aspirations (300 - 500 words)
Part 5
Portfolio presentation and structure including Harvard referencing:
(10% of module grade)
a) Work is presented professionally with appropriate structure and academic
standards.
b) You have used Harvard referencing style and provided a reference list.
