Assessment for Speaking and Listening

Listening: The practice of listening skill will be done throughout the year in various mode:
 Class Activities, Group discussions, integrated listening tasks
 Flipped listening assignments on Edpuzzle. The students should join this virtual
classroom using the invite link provided for each class. All tasks will be graded.
 Final Listening Assessment (5 marks)

Speaking: Continuous evaluation strategy is employed in speaking skill also


 Class Activities, Group discussions, integrated speaking tasks
 Flipped speaking assignments on Flipgrid. The students should join this virtual
classroom using the invite link provided for each class. All tasks will be graded.

Suggestions for the Project

 The Project can be inter-disciplinary in theme. The ideas/issues highlighted in the


chapters/ poems/ drama given the prescribed books can also be developed in the form of
a project. Students can also take up any relevant and age-appropriate theme.
 Such topics may be taken up, that provide students with opportunities for listening and
speaking.

Sample project

Choose any one of the following as your ASL project


1. Lesson- based Project

The ideas/issues highlighted in the chapters/ poems/ drama given the prescribed books can a
be developed in the form of a project. Watch the following videos to find the samples of

2. Interview based research

• Students can choose a topic on which to do their research/ interview, e.g. a student can
choose the topic: “ Evolving food tastes in my neighbourhood” or “Corona pandemic and
the fallout on families.” Read the available literature.

• The student then conducts interviews with a few neighbours on the topic. For an interview,
student will frame questions based on the preliminary research/background.

• The student will then write an essay/ write up / report etc. up to 1000 words on his/her
research and submit it. He / She will then take a viva on the research project. The project
can be done in individually or in pairs/ groups

You can choose any one of the following topics for interview-based research

a. How Tech Savvy are you?


b. My Home Town
c. Going Out trends in my neighborhood
d. Reading
e. Leisure time
f. Sports
g. How do you prepare for the exams

3. Listen to podcasts/ interviews/radio or TV documentary on a topic and prepare a report


countering or agreeing with the speakers. Write an 800 - 1000 words report and submit. A
viva will be taken on the report.

4. Students create their own video/ Audio, after writing a script. The video or audio can be on
a relevant age-appropriate theme or the themes highlighted in their prescribed textbooks.
The videos or audios can be based on any one of the following topics:

1. Time-travelling

2. Moving towards sustainable future.

3. Modern age dilemma and escaping the present

4. Friendship

5. Write, direct and present a theatrical production /One act play. This will be a project which
will be done as a team. It will involve planning, preparation and presentation. Students
should involve in researching, discussion, writing the script, auditioning and ultimately
producing the play. The project will end with a presentation and subsequently a viva. The
project can be based on following topics.

1. Time-travelling
Environment & Sustainable Development

2. Fear- overcoming
Transcience fear Life and Permanence of Nature
of Human

3. Modern
Growingage dilemma and escaping the present
Digital

4. Friendship
The project work will carry 10 marks - 5 marks for project file and 5 marks for viva.

Project-Portfolio/ Project Report


The Project-Portfolios is a compilation of the work that the students produce during the process
of working on their ALS Project. The Project-Portfolio may include the following:
 Cover page: includes title of project, school details/details of students.
 Acknowledgement
 Certificate: Certificate of completion under the guidance of the teacher.
 Objective: Statement of purpose/objectives/goals
 Index
 Project R: Materials such as scripts for the theatre/role play, questionnaires for interview,
written assignments, essays, survey-reports and other material evidence of learning
progress and academic accomplishment, the 800-1000 words essay/Script/Report
 Student/group reflections
 If possible, Photographs that capture the positive learning experiences of the student(s).
 Conclusion
 List of resources/bibliography
