(i) Write the equation of a line perpendicular to the line 3𝑥 + 2𝑦 − 7 = 0
and passing through point P, where P divides the line segment joining
A ( -2 , 6 ) and B ( 3, -4 ) in the ratio 2 : 3. [4]

(ii) The first term of a G.P is 243 and the fifth term is 48. Find: [4]
(a) The common ratio
(b) The sum of first 6 terms of the G.P.

(iii) Use graph sheet for this question. (Take 1 cm = 1 unit on both axes) [5]
a) Plot A ( 2, 4), B ( -2, 1) and C ( 5, 0).
b) Reflect points A and B in 𝑥-axis to get 𝐴′ and 𝐵′ and write their
coordinates.
c) Give a geometrical name to the figure formed by joining the points
𝐴𝐵𝐵′ 𝐴′ 𝐶𝐴 and find its area.
d) Write the coordinates of two points from the figure which are invariant
on reflection about the line 𝑥 = 2.

(i) Mohan has a recurring deposit account in a bank for 2 years at 6% p.a. simple
interest. If he gets ₹ 1200 as interest at the time of maturity, find:

a) The monthly instalment

(ii) Using properties of proportion, solve for x. Given that x is positive.

From a point on the ground, the angles of elevation of the top and the bottom
of the flagstaff are 60° and 30° respectively. Find the height of the pillar and
the distance of the point of observation from the pillar. [4]

(i) Find the middle most term of the A.P. : −11, −7, − 3, . . . , 45. [3]

(ii) Using factor theorem show that (𝑥 − 2) is a factor of the polynomial

(i) Using ruler and compass draw a circle of radius 3.5 cm. Take a point P at a
distance of 8 cm from the centre of the circle. Construct two tangents PA and
PB to the circle and measure their length. [3]

(ii) In the given figure, if AC = 3 cm and CB = 6 cm, find the length of CR. Given that
AP ‖ CR ‖ BQ. [3]

(iii) Find the value of k for which the given quadratic equation has equal roots.
Hence, find the roots of the equation. [4]

(iii) Mr. Verma invests Rs. 9600 in 5%, Rs.100 shares at Rs.80. After a year, he sold
these shares at Rs.90 each and invested the proceeds (including his dividend) in
9 %, Rs.50 shares at Rs. 57. Calculate
a) His dividend for the first year.
b) His annual income in the second year.
c) His percentage increase in his return on his original investment. [4]

(i) A manufacturer A sells a washing machine to a dealer B for Rs.12500. The
dealer B sells it to a consumer at a profit of Rs. 1500. If the sales are intrastate
and the rate of GST is 12%, find
a) The amount of tax (under GST) paid by the dealer B to the Central
Government
b) The amount of tax (under GST) received by the State Government
c) The amount that the consumer pays for the machine. [3]

(ii) 150 spherical marbles, each of diameter 1.4 cm, are dropped in a cylindrical
vessel of radius 3.5 cm containing some water, which are completely immersed
in water. Find the rise in the level of water in the vessel. [3]

(iii) Use ruler and compass only for the following question. All construction lines
and arcs must be clearly shown.

a) Construct a triangle ABC in which BC = 6.5 cm, ∠ABC = 60° and AB = 5cm.
b) Draw the circumcircle of the triangle ABC and measure its radius.
c) Construct the locus of the points equidistant from BC and AC.
d) Mark 2 points X and Y which are at a distance of 3.5 cm from A and also
equidistant from BC and AC. Measure XY. [4]
Question 10
(i) Each of the letter of the word ‘EXAMINATION’ is written on identical circular
discs and put in a bag. They are well shuffled. If a disc is removed at random
from the bag, what is the probability that the letter is:
a) A vowel
b) One of the last 10 letters of the English alphabet which appears in the
given word
c) One of the first 14 letters of the English alphabet which appears in the
given word. [3]

(ii) A and B are two points on the X-axis and Y-axis, respectively.
If P(2, -3) is the midpoint of AB, then find the: [3]

a) Coordinates of A and B
b) Slope of line AB.
c) Equation of line AB.

(iii) The area of a rectangular prayer hall is 300 m2. If the length of the hall is one
more than twice its breadth, Assume the breadth of the hall as x m, write
the length of the hall in terms of x. Using the given area, frame a quadratic
equation in x and find the dimensions of the prayer hall. [4]
