Objective: The objective of this “Campus Hire Policy & Induction Program” is to streamline the
process of Campus Hires in the organization. The purpose is also to prepare them for various future
strategic roles through focussed development programs.
Scope: This policy is applicable to all locations of Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd.
Types of Campus Hires:
Category 1: Management & Technical Graduates from B-Schools & other Technical
Institutes
These are permanent employees hired on basis of “Merit .
Budgeting: All of these campus hires are a part of corporate central pool for one year. After
one year, they are allocated to specific businesses/ functions basis their performance,
acumen & interest. The allocation of businesses / functions is decided by corporate HR. For
the first one year, the cost of these hires is allocated equally to all businesses.
Selection Procedure & Panel: The hiring of candidates is done centrally from corporate
office only. The selection panel consists of minimum of three members, one each from HR,
Business and function. Initial screening & preliminary selection process is conducted by HR,
followed by final selection by the panel. The panel is empowered to make final offers on the
spot. The selection of these candidates is basis Merit, the parameters considered are: profile
of the candidate, past experience, %ages in various examinations, performance in group
discussion, interview and ability test (if required).
Types of Hires: These Campus Hires are further categorised into the following:
1. Lateral Hires
Lateral Hires are experienced candidates hired either from one year Executive MBA
Program from Premier Institutes or experienced candidates from two years regular
MBA program. Candidates having minimum of 3 years of experience are considered
under this category.
2. Management Trainees (MTs)
Management Trainees are fresh Management Graduates from B-Schools or
experienced candidates with not more than 2 years of experience.
MTs Level 1: These are the candidates hired from premier institutes. The list of
institutes for MT Level 1 is given in Annexure.
MTs Level 2: These are candidates hired from regular B-Schools. The list of institutes
for MT Level 2 is given in Annexure.
3. Management Trainees –Technical (MT-Technical)
MT – Technical are graduate engineers from IITs, BITS Pilani, IT-BHU, UDCT Mumbai.
The idea is to differentiate them from Graduate Engineer Trainees hired from other
regular technical colleges.
4. Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs)
GETs are graduate engineers from technical institutes like NITs and others as per the
list mentioned in the Annexure.

Category 2: Management & Technical undergraduates from B-Schools & other Technical
Institutes.
Campus hires under this category are students undergoing management/ engineering or
other professional courses and are required to undergo short duration industry trainings as
part of their curriculums. Basis merit, these candidates are taken as interns or trainees and
the duration of their training can be from minimum of two weeks to maximum of six
months.
Direct applications by students for their internships are entertained on first-cum-first-serve
basis depending upon the availability of suitable projects.
Budgeting: These campus hires are a part of corporate central pool during the period of
their internship and the cost is allocated equally to all businesses. In case of direct
applications, the cost is allocated to hiring business / function.
Project Assignments: During their internship with the organization, these candidates are
assigned proper projects so that they get maximum benefit out of this learning opportunity
as well as it contributes to the “Brand Building” of our organization. After completion of
their internship, their project performance is reviewed in order to assess them for future
roles in the organization. Deserving candidates are given Pre-Placement offers for next year.
The allocation of businesses / functions and projects are decided by corporate HR.
Project assignments & evaluations are not applicable in case of direct applications for
internships.
Selection Procedure & Panel: The hiring of candidates is done centrally from corporate
office only. The selection panel consists of minimum of two members, one each from HR and
Business/ Function. Initial screening & preliminary selection process is conducted by HR,
followed by final selection by the panel. The panel is empowered to make final offer for
internship on the spot. The candidates are selected on the basis of Merit.
Types of Hires: These campus hires are further categorised into the following:
1. Management Interns / Summer Trainees
Students pursuing MBA / PGDBA/ other post graduate management courses from
various B-schools or other equivalent institutes, required to undergo two weeks to
six months training as a part of their curriculum in various organizations.
2. Technical Interns / Trainees
Students pursuing BE / BTech/ or other post graduate technical courses from various
institutions, required to undergo 2 weeks to six months training as a part of their
curriculum in various organizations.
List of Campuses
The list of Campuses to be visited for each type of Campus Hires is detailed in the annexure 1. This
list is subject to the revision every year by corporate HR basis the quality of candidates being hired in
the previous year from these institutes, availability of required talent in the current year, their latest
rankings and geographical presence. OD & training team maintains continuous campus engagement
process by way of providing short projects to the students, guest lectures etc. and always strives to
get preferred dates and days of the campus placement programs at various institutes.

Designation, Compensation & Terms of Appointment for Campus Hires:
1. Lateral Hires:
Designation Offered : Designation offered to Lateral Hires at the time of joining is based on
the candidate’s experience.
Compensation Offered at the time of joining: Compensation offered to these candidates is
basis the following:
1) Experience of the candidate
2) Level at which the candidate is hired
3) Market Benchmark
4) Internal Parity
Terms of Appointment: Terms of Appointment of these candidates is as per our regular
employees. The various employee benefits are applicable as per the level on which they are
hired. Their appraisal cycle follows the process as applicable for regular employees.
2. Management Trainees (Level 1):
Designation Offered :
Designation offered at the time of joining is “Management Trainees (MT)”. They are on
training period for one year. On successful completion of this training period, they are
regularised as Deputy Managers.
Compensation Offered at the time of joining: Compensation offered to these candidates at
the time of joining is Rs. 9.5 Lakhs per annum. Compensation on Confirmation?
Terms of Appointment: Terms of Appointment of these candidates are as per our regular
employees. The various employee benefits would be applicable as per the level 10 – Deputy
Managers. They are on training period for one year. On successful completion of this
training period, they are regularised as Deputy Managers and then follow the regular
appraisal cycle.
3. Management Trainees (Level 2):
Designation Offered :
Designation offered at the time of joining is “Management Trainees (MT)”. They are on
training period for one year. On successful completion of this training period, they are
regularised as Assistant Managers.
Compensation Offered at the time of joining: Compensation offered to these candidates at
the time of joining is Rs. 5 Lakhs per annum. Compensation on Confirmation?
Terms of Appointment: Terms of Appointment of these candidates are as per our regular
employees. The employee benefits would be applicable as per the level 9A – Assistant
Managers. They would be on training period for one year. On successful completion of this

5. Graduate Engineer Trainees:
Designation Offered :
Designation offered at the time of joining is “Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs)”. They are
on training period for one year. On successful completion of this training period, they are
regularised as Senior Executives.
Compensation Offered at the time of joining: Compensation offered to these candidates at
the time of joining is Rs. 4 Lakhs per annum. Compensation on Confirmation?
Terms of Appointment: Terms of Appointment of these candidates are as per our regular
employees. The employee benefits are applicable as per the level 9 – Senior Executive. They
are on training period for one year. On successful completion of this training period, they
are regularised as Senior Executives and then follow the regular appraisal cycle.
6. Management Interns / Summer Trainees (STs):
Designation Offered : Summer Trainee or Intern.
Stipend:
Stipend of Rs. 15,000/- per month is paid to trainees hired on basis of merit through
a selection process by HR. Trainees joining through direct applications & without any
selection process are not paid any Stipend.
The stipend is inclusive of accommodation charges. In case, accommodation is
arranged by the organization, equivalent monthly accommodation charges are
deducted from the monthly Stipend.
Official Travel is over & above monthly stipend and is reimbursed as per the “Travel
Policy”. Travel policy for level 9A is applicable in this case. This is also applicable in
case of Interns hired by Direct Applications.
Terms of Appointment: Not Applicable as they are not regular employees. On selection of
candidate, offer letter for Internship is issued by HR to the candidate. On successful
completion of project, certificate of completion is issued by HR to the candidate.
7. Technical Trainees / Interns (TTs):

Designation Offered : Technical Trainees or Intern.
Stipend:
Stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month is paid to trainees hired on basis of merit through
a selection process by HR. Trainees joining through direct applications & without any
selection process are not paid any Stipend.
The stipend is inclusive of accommodation charges. In case, accommodation is
arranged by the organization, equivalent monthly accommodation charges are
deducted from the monthly Stipend.
Official Travel is over & above monthly stipend and is reimbursed as per the “Travel

One year Induction Program

Once campus hires are on board they are taken through a well structured one year Induction
Program. The objective of this program is to develop, nurture and prepare them for future business
challenges. Through this process, they are given exposure in various aspects of businesses, plant
operations and support functions by way of challenging projects & rotations in these areas thereby
preparing them for future strategic roles. Throughout the process, regular reviews, hand-holding and
guidance of corporate OD & HR function ensures all campus hires make most out of their unique
learning experience. The structure of this program detailing various phases is as below:

The complete batch of all the Lateral Hires, MTs & MT-Technical joins on the same day at
corporate office.

Training program for Lateral Hires
Phase Stepping into 3.5 Months Once they get familiarised with the organization, they

to their area of specialization. Corporate HR in
consultation with business / function heads decides &
communicates the projects & departments to these new
hires.
The projects assigned are either at corporate office /
R&D centres or manufacturing sites.

Phase Manufacturing 2.5 Months After the campus hires had their first exposures of

centres in the previous stage are deputed to

Again the projects are assigned & communicated by
corporate HR in consultation with business / function
heads. The areas assigned in this phase are generally
related to the areas assigned in the previous stage. For
eg. People who spent their previous stage in one
business would be deputed to the manufacturing
function of the same business. This ensures a complete
understanding of a business operation while maintaining
continuity in their learning.
Phase Skill 2-3 days By now people complete their 6 months in the
4 Development organization in two important areas- Corporate &
Manufacturing Function. Before they start with another
stint, they are provided 2-3 days training on identified
common need of the batch.
The training need is decided by corporate HR in
consultation with business & function heads with whom
these people have worked in their previous months.

Phase Job Rotations 3 Months Again, with the view of overall grooming of these
5 campus hires, in this phase, they are rotated to other
Business businesses & sub functions.
Other Business
People who were allocated businesses in their first
Function assignments are rotated to another business of the
Sub Function organization. People who were allocated functions in
their first assignments are rotated to other sub-functions
of the same function.
This ensures their exposure to various other facets of a
business’s / function’s operations.
Phase Knowing other 3 Months With the view that they know the organization
6 Functions completely, campus hires spend their last three months
(SC, HR, Finance (approx. 20 of one year induction program by taking up short
& EHS) days each) duration projects in other enabler functions of the
organization.
Business
Function The functions covered in this phase are Supply Chain,
HR, Finance & EHS. Again the projects are allocated by
Function HR in consultation with function heads.
Other
Function / People who already had exposure in any of these
Business functions in any of the previous phase would be deputed
to a business for their exposure in business operations as
well.
Phase Final review & department allocations

Review Mechanism:
Project reviews are conducted at the end of each phase to evaluate the performance of the
candidate on that project. These reviews are conducted in presence of Process Owner (Corporate
OD), Business HR, Project Appraiser & Reviewer.
Lateral Hires: Confirmation of Lateral Hires is basis their performance and is governed by their
appointment terms. However, they continue to be on induction training for one year. On completion
of their one year induction program and basis their overall performance in all the phases of program,
Lateral Hires are assigned specific businesses and functions by HR.

Management Trainees: On completion of their one year induction program and basis their overall
performance in all the phases of program, Management Trainees are regularized and assigned
specific businesses and functions by HR.
2) Program structure For Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs):
The complete batch of all GETs joins on the same day at Gajraula Manufacturing Site.

Ph 1 Introduction to 10 Days The objective of this phase is to first introduce these

The details of 10 days induction program are as below:

functions at Gajraula Site. The functions
include Production, Engineering, QC, QA,
SC, Accounts, Projects, R&D, BE, OHC,
EHS and CSR.
Day 9 & 10: Two days training program
on Campus to Corporate
Phase Stepping into 3.5 Months Once they get familiarised with the organization &

Phase Plant Rotations 2.5 Months After the campus hires had their first exposures of
3 industrial projects, they are rotated in different
manufacturing sites for their understanding of
Plant operations in varied environments, systems & processes.
Another Plant
Again the projects are assigned & communicated by
Corporate corporate HR in consultation with function heads. The
Plant areas assigned in this phase are generally related to the
areas assigned in the previous stage. For eg. People who
spent their previous stage in the production department
at one manufacturing location would be deputed to
production department of another manufacturing
location.
People based at corporate office in the previous stage
are also deputed to the same function at manufacturing
sites in this phase.
Phase Skill 2-3 days By now people complete their 6 months in the
4 Development organization. Before they start with another stint, they
are provided 2-3 days training on identified common
need of the batch.
The training need is decided by corporate HR in
consultation with function heads with whom these
people have worked in their previous months.
Phase Job Rotations 2 Months Again, with the view of overall grooming of these
5 at Plants campus hires, in this phase, they are rotated to other
(1 month functions of the manufacturing locations allocated at the
each) time of their first assignments. People based at
Production corporate office at the time of their first assignments are
also deputed at manufacturing plants during this phase.
Engineering The rotations in this phase take place in two out of the
three areas – Production, Engineering & Projects. For
e.g. people who have already spent time in Production
Projects are deputed to Engineering & Projects for 1 month each.
This ensures their exposure to various other facets of a
plant operations.
Phase Knowing other 3.5 Months With the view that they know the organization
6 Functions completely, campus hires spend their last three and a
(QC, QA, R&D, (approx. 15 half months of one year induction program by taking up

Phase Final review & department allocations

Review Mechanism:
Project reviews are conducted at the end of each phase to evaluate the performance of the
candidate on that project. These reviews are conducted in presence of HR, Project Appraiser &
Reviewer.
On completion of first year and basis their overall performance in all the phases of induction
program, Graduate Engineer Trainees are regularized and assigned specific functions by corporate
HR.
