Topic - Love Not The World (1) Basic 1-3

The Bible study outline for the National Convention 2022 focuses on the theme 'Love not the world' based on 1 John 2:12-17, emphasizing the need for children of God to remain separate from worldly influences. An object lesson using a bottle of water and oil illustrates the concept of separation, while activities encourage children to identify worldly versus godly things. The outline also discusses characteristics of friends of the world versus friends of God, and concludes with a reflection on what one loves the most in relation to their faith.

BIBLE STUDY OUTLINE FOR NATIONAL CONVENTION, 2022.

Topic : Love not the world

Text : 1John 2:12-17
Memory verse : 1John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in
him.

Main Emphasis
Children of God are called to be separate from the world. Even though we are in the world, we must not
love the world.

Object lesson
Materials needed:-
A clear bottle with a top, water, vegetable oil, food coloring. Fill the bottle about 1/3 full with water,

Add enough brightly-colored food coloring to make it readily visible. Add vegetable oil until the bottle is
about 2/3 full. The oil will float on the water, but when the jar is shaken vigorously, the oil and water will
appear to become one. But, if left to stand for a brief period of time, (about 30 seconds) they will separate
again.

There are two things in this bottle. Can you guess what they are? Colored water --- and oil. When we look
at this bottle with oil and water in it, the first thing that we notice is that they remain separate from one
another. Now, watch what happens when I shake the bottle. The water and oil appear to become one.

Leave the bottle to stand.

Look! The water and oil have become separate again. That shows us that even when they were all mixed
together, they were never really one.
This bottle is a pretty good picture of what Jesus wants us to be like in this world we live in.

'Do not love the world' - What does this mean?

It means not being devoted to the world's treasures, philosophies and priorities.
World's treasures:- precious metals, gems or other valuable objects.
Philosophies:- An activity people undertake when they seek to understand fundamentals truths about
themselves, the world in which they live and their relationships to the world and to each other.

Activity:
The children should circle out the worldly things and write letter G in front of the godly things.
