Performance Management and Performance Manager+ - What is
this?
Performance Management is a family of applications for collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing performance data that is
coming from different sources. Raw data becomes meaningful information that is visualized in graphical and textual reports.

PM processes allows NetAct to store the performance data, from days to years, depending on your requirements. You can use the
PM data to generate various reports, analyze current network status, evaluate the utilization of resources and anticipate future
trends. Identification of bottlenecks and optimization of the network system is very important, and Performance Manager+ includes
several ready-made report packages for several technologies, allowing you to quickly analyze the information within your network.
The unified and scalable reporting environment also enables the creation of new reports or KPIs based on your network specific
requirements.

Collected PM data can also be exported from each NetAct and processed by umbrella reporting applications such as Nokia
Performance Manager+.

Introduction to Performance Manager+

Performance Manager+ is a centralized, multi-technology data warehousing and reporting solution, providing meaningful and accurate
information on network wide performance, usage and quality statistics.

The easy-to-use GUI allows real-time performance monitoring and advanced reporting on raw and aggregated data. By using the
Performance Manager+, you are able to:
• create, edit, share and delete boards and KPIs.
• access and visualize Nokia predefined content as well as user created content.
• drill in time and in network dimensions, as well as drill in KPIs.
• create and manage scheduled jobs for boards, store the results in a NetAct server on pre-defined or configurable folders and,
optionally, distribute them via e-mail in XLSX format.
• display FM information combined with the last occurrence of counters or KPIs managed objects.

Performance Manager+ - application overview

In Content explorer you can find:

• Reporting Suite area - allows you to navigate through different types of content, such as reports, KPIs and counters.
• My content - allows you to navigate through the content that you created. It is categorized by boards, reports and KPIs.
• Shared with me - allows you to navigate through the content shared by other users. It is categorized by boards and reports.

Performance Manager+ - Content tree filter
View Details
•Identifier: displays the identifier of the counter
•Short name: displays the short name of the counter
•Long name: displays the long name of the counter
•Description: displays the description of the counter
•Unit: displays the unit of the counter
•Formula (object): displays the formula used to
aggregate the object in network dimension
•Formula (time): displays the formula used to
aggregate the counter in time dimension
•Technology: displays which technology is used by the
counter
•Measurement: displays to which measurement the
counter belongs.

Content tree filter - The Filter functionality uses data that is visible and available to show results according to the typed criteria.
The filter starts when you type any character in the Filter... field. The items that contain the string typed are presented and
the tree is automatically expanded. When the filter does not have any results for a given panel, that panel is not expandable
and the icon is not displayed.

Performance Manager+ - Add to a New Board

Template name
•State View: Provides the latest results for the respective technology
root object level. When applicable, it shows FM information data.
•Predefined settings: Report predefined output type is used, when
output type predefinition is available.
•Custom: opens a dialog box to configure the panel parameters.
When a report is added to a board using this option, it is added as a
single new panel, and this panel inherits the report name.

Add to a New Board - You can add reports, KPIs and counters to a new panel in a new board. When adding a report to a new
board using the template or the configuration wizard, a board with a single panel is created.

Performance Manager+ - Scheduler

Scheduler - You can schedule a job by launching the scheduler job creation wizard in Board actions.
You can open a scheduled job created via Tools → Scheduler.

Export - The Export... option allows you to export and download the board execution output as an XLSX or CSV file.

Performance Manager+ - KPI Management

The KPI Manager functionality allows you to create new KPIs. All the mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
Technology– Select the technology to create the KPI.
Units - Select the KPI unit from the drop-down list. All the available units are provided in the drop-down list.
Only ten items are visible.

Introduction to Thresholder and Profiler (T&P)

Thresholder and Profiler is an optional feature. It allows you to set and manage thresholds, for the Performance Indicators (PIs)
and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) calculated in the Performance Manager+ application.

•Regularly compares the KPI values with the KPIs threshold.

•When a KPI value exceeds the threshold, a notification is sent.

A KPI profile is a set of parameters defining the pattern of the values for a measurement. The profile for a KPI is based on the
measurement data available from the moment that profiling is enabled.

Thresholder and Profiler supports intelligent profiles. Each KPI can have a profile that assumes that measurement values follow
a pattern. The adaptive profile used in Thresholder and Profiler monitors the KPI over time and aggregates an approximation
from the values. Thresholder and Profiler then updates the profile to this new calculated value.

Profiling ensures that the system learns what the typical KPI values are for a measured object. This way, the profile-based
thresholds are only crossed when deviations from the regular pattern are observed.
